i really like people. one of the best things ever is just subsuming yourself in the experience of watching someone else talk to you. all the little mannerisms, all the twists and turns and shifts, the intonation and the shifting topic and all the reactions. gradually constructing a mental image and watching it come to life. making predictions and watching them fail and making new predictions. an out of body experience every time.
last night i did a drawing of a game state in hangman. i wasn’t playing hangman, i was just drawing a moment in the game, like a still life. my friend tried to guess a letter & i had to tell her, no, we’re not playing it, it’s just a drawing of hangman, you’re losing the distinction between reality & fiction
discovered the library of mp3's i put together like.. at least 8 years ago based on file dates, but probably more like 2017?
it's. nearly 10gb. maybe 1100 mp3's total.
i sort of knew that i had this on a hard drive or an sd card somewhere, but i had No idea it was this big
anyway ive started going through it but it is 2-3 DAYS of music so its been like 2 hours and i am not out of the A's by artist and already some of this is fucking me up BAD
anyway i will try to post updates with fun stuff :)
got myself a lil birthday present :) loaded it up with my cumulative library of ~1600 mp3s (which is an insane thing to even say), i’m really loving this little thing so far <3
i also ripped an actual CD today, which i am now listening to. it is one of i think 2 total CDs i own? and im pretty sure i got this one at a thrift store like … 5+ years ago for thoroughly no reason.
the album is ‘you are here’ by dropline, who i guess made this one album in 2002 but it kinda fucking hits so far. good sound. tickles the general late 90s early 2000s alt rock-ey fancy
but yeah :) also opens up some fun possibilities in the future since the community has a RockBox port and apparently it runs on some old ass Mediatek chip with some mangled android 4.x version, haven’t done any android modding in … a decade???? seems like could be an option to fuck around with if i want
i finally finished the led strip mirror project i left at 90% for like three months! still needs a brightness control but it plugs in and looks great :)
normally i would put better pics here for a finished project but to be so real im too tired to do aesthetically pleasing photography of a mirror that also shines light directly at the lense. sorry :/
have a scuffed screenshot of the little box i designed to hold the cord and strip termination and on/off switch instead
i also "designed" the diffuser segments but that's literally just a hollow half-cylinder i printed over and over again and then glued to the mirror

Blondie - Eat to the Beat - Atomic (also Sound-A-Sleep) - i loved Blondie as a kid, but hadn't gone back around to listen to any more thoroughly and really enjoyed this :) Sound-A-Sleep is a bonus pick because look up Debbie Harry and tell me you don't want her to sing you a lullaby
Paramore - Riot! - how could i even pick - an album i adored back in hs but probably never listened to all the way through until literally last week, just fantastic stuff, no notes

finally turned the Ominous Grid of Letters into a game.
Conway's game of life simulation is happening, but additionally, there is an invisible 3 cell by 3 cell square Angel that is slowly moving across the board in a steady direction.
every step of the simulation, the Angel toggles the alive/dead state of the cells she covers, acting as an external influence on the regular Conway's life simulation.
find this Angel by noticing the abnormalities in the simulation, and click on her. it will let you know when you find her.

i havent been able to stop thinking abt this since i played it a few days ago. Angels are a Feature of a simulation. Angels are hard to see where the simulation is noisy, but easy to see where the simulation is quiet. Angels reverse the entropy of a simulation that would otherwise fall into a dead or stable configuration. Angels are invisible, except for the evidence of their presence.
