K’Naan - 70 Excuses from Somalia
This is quite an inspirational song about having regrets and wishing for a better life but forgetting what’s even more important: loving oneself and being happy for the things that you do have.
K'naan was born in what is considered one of the most dangerous places to be on earth; Mogadishu, Somalia. He is a bit of an activist so in general his music is about politics, human rights, wars, overcoming struggles and other similar subjects. The Somalian part of the song goes like this: Hilila wa la halle, qabiilkii waa la daayay - Tribalism has been abandoned.
Dagaal la daa, rafaad la daa - War has been abandoned, Struggle has been abandoned.
Jaceeylkiiyaa waa la raayay - Love (social harmony) upended it (tribalism, war, struggle).
