heroinesregret:
She’s entirely out of her element here. Islands appearing, seemingly out of nowhere. Islands floating in the sky. It’s like something from a fantasy novel. A work of fiction. A forgotten tale lost to time and history. A song someone’s forgotten to sing. And she’s been placed in the middle of it. It’s as overwhelming as awakening in that cursed academy, yet… for completely different reasons. Kaede can’t wrap her mind around it.
Time is spent wandering about. Avoiding and running from people that can’t be reasoned with. She wanders alone, until inevitably crossing paths with Claude. The first familiar face she’s seen in some time. Even she can tell he seems far more in his element than she is. She concedes to letting him to take the lead.
“Huh?”
A pause.
“Oh.”
Death… isn’t something that she handles well. Not anymore. Not after she… She falls a few feet behind him before she realizes. Geez! No time to think like that, Akamatsu. She reaches up and pats her cheeks. Pull it together. Speeding up, to catch up with him. “Isn’t that… weirdly far away from any towns? At least… it would be, where I come from.”
➼┊ Glancing back at her for a moment when she felt the sound of skin hitting skin and he witnessed her lightly patting her cheeks, assuming it to be some sort of ... encouragement to herself, as he recalls seeing some students do it before, maybe he should try it one day if he is feeling that down. Nevertheless, there was more important things to be thinking about right now and kaede brought up the point he already had in mind, this was a strange place for a graveyard ... perhaps this wasn’t the only one, or maybe there was a village once here that had gone to ruins ... But if that were the case there would be something left to at least support that people once lived here
❛ It is pretty far away from ... anything really. No towns, No forts, nothing ... at least not that we’ve seen. ❜ It was pretty strange to him. He wasn’t planning on disturbing the dead in anyway, he knew better then to dig up graves but he didn’t think there was any harm in simply checking gravestones, especially if they are in bad shape ... maybe cleaning them up would bring them some sort of good fortune. So the first gravestone he finds he crouches down in front of it, and it’s covered in dirt and looks very worn, having weeds sprouted in front of it as well. ❛ No one's been here for a long time ... Some people simply don’t take care of their loved ones after death but this whole place seems to be rotting ❜
➼┊ Maybe he was far to use to the Monasteries care for their dead. Having a very nice graveyard already on the grounds that buried the knights that passed, as well as a holy tomb for passed saints, but then again, even in his own home, this sort of treatment would have been seen as a disgrace to the dead
❛ Usually, graveyards have people to keep them clean and managed, as to not upset the dead, but this place hasn’t been touched in years ... It’s like we are the first ones here in centuries ❜
