I've found that talking to myself, on top of helping me make sense of my racing, rambling thoughts, makes the road feel a bit less lonely. Hearing a voice will do that, I suppose, though it is nice to hear one who says things I did not already think.

The swarm... The swarm was so small, when I first heard the buzzing. I was afraid, didn't know what it meant. I barely remember that fear, now, barely remember what it was like to not understand the hissing. Why wouldn't I have? They were always my own people.

The swarm was small, once. We are still too small, not enough people to be in this family. I don't know how many we need, but it doesn't matter.
