You could feel the awkwardness growing in the room every passing second. You’d have to be the one to do something to stop it, you were far better at that then Jake was at the very least. Then again that wasn’t saying much, like you were better at breaking the tension than a waffle iron was. They were delicious but couldn’t be assed to help out in the way of social interactions.
You pause.
Did you just subconsciously tell yourself that Jake English was delicious of all things?
You probably needed to sit down. Have a drink.
"Thanks. It looks like I killed a little old lady and stole it from her but it manages to keep me out of the cold," you say. Although the temperatures here were moderate, they were still far colder than Texas. Everything was colder than Texas, you imagined- never being anywhere other than there and your planets.
"Take a seat, I can put on a movie or something. I don’t have a lot of choices, as I’m sure you can imagine, but my shades do have some shit downloaded on them from before…" you trail off, after all there was no point in bringing up the past. Not anymore.
You wander into the kitchen, open the fridge and pull out a can of Crush. Popping the tab that familiar hissing sound soothed your nerves slightly, a sip even more so.
At the mention of movies, You immediately go over and take a seat on the couch. As silly as it may seem and despite the current situation, the very mention of movies is enough to put a happy little smile on your face.
Even though Dirk is in the kitchen getting a soda, You assume he can hear you just fine.
"What kind of movies do you have,Dirk? You wouldn't happen to have Indiana Jones, Would you?"
Now, That was one you hadn't seen in awhile! The series was rather marvelous and well written. Alas! It will never be as good as Avatar to you which starred dear Neytiri! Now,That is one women if she was real you wouldn't mind spending some quality time with-You sorta might want to stop thinking of her before you start to daydream.
It's actually fine if Dirk doesn't have any of the indiana jones series. Any movie would do just fine and maybe you two could even laugh at it . It just depends on what kind of movie it is, you suppose.

Dead.
Did she really die?
It didn’t seem possible, not with what she could remember last. They were safe, everyone was. There wasn’t any danger anymore, nothing great at least, yet here she was. Somehow she had died, a way that Meracle couldn’t remember, and she awoken in a strange place.
Jumping up and letting out a growl, her ears flatten against her head and the feline backed away from where she had woken up. It didn’t smell great here, and because it was a new, strange world, it was hard to tell if it was safe.
There could be dangerous animals lurking around, or beings, and she wouldn’t know what to keep an eye out for. Her long, blue tail with a white tip flicked, swaying around as she aid close attention to the sounds and smells around her.
When she heard the sounds of footsteps, the hairs on her neck stood up and without wasting any time, Meracle fled the area she was in. She had to find somewhere safe to hide. Because there were so many daunting thoughts entering her mind, along with confusion, the feline didn’t notice that someone was in front of her and —
— BAM
Rolling backwards with a yelp, her eyes widened with fear and her tail tucked between her legs as she rolled over, crawling backwards. “I’m sorry!”
Golly! Being ran into like that is enough to make Jake stumble backwards and fall onto the ground! That certainly didn't feel good at all and actually hurt a tiny bit. At upon hearing the 'I'm sorry', He picks himself up. The page glares at the person who ran into him, raising a eyebrow.
That glare however only lasts a second as He realizes the person is a lady,no more than his age who looks very frightened.Jake observes her for a few moments, before kneeling down to be on the other's level and attempt to make eye contact with her.
"It's alright,"He says this in a very soft voice to show he means here no harm. "Are you alright, Miss?"
"Who says I was joking?" you reply, not stopping as you make your way to your apartment.
You reach the building without issue, unlocking and opening the door. Jake will find, as soon as he enters, that it has clearly come pre-furnished. There is no way you would have gotten anything colonial American. But still, it’s homey enough. And you really are only there when you need to use a computer or god forbid sleep once or twice a week. It also houses your orange soda, which might be the most important job it could possibly have.
"C’mon in, make yourself comfortable," you tell him as you wander inside and immediately kick off your shoes. There’s a couch and coffee table and television inside the living room and that’s about it. You are a pretty low maintenance guy, at least when it comes to furniture. Though, you think to yourself, if you’re going to remain in this place for awhile you might want to think about eventually getting some stuff that doesn’t look like it came out of the Donna Reed show.
It’s so strange to you, being in a place like this. It was weird enough before but that was before Jake was here. That somehow made it ten billion times weirder. That you were in a rather domestic setting with someone you had only been on a skeleton filled alien planet with up until now. And here you were, able to sit and watch movies and have fucking tea or something. You rubbed the back of your neck slightly, trying to think of how best to combat the situation.
"Can I get you anything? Soda?"
Nailed it.
You shake your head,
"No, Thanks. I'm good."
This place is pretty empty if you come to think about it. Nothing like the room you would have expected, but then again, you do have to remember that Dirk hasn't been here much longer than you have. You don't know long you'll be staying here, but your guess is that Dirk isn't in his apartment that much.
So for the most part, You're just looking around and trying to get your surroundings memorized. Might as well try and make some small talk to get rid of that lingering awkwardness there is.
"Nice place you have."
It is really nice besides being a bit more empty than you and a bit on the small side. Two people however shouldn't be too crowded, daresay maybe even if someone else shows up it would be capable of housing three if Dirk was willing to put up with them.
You're not even sure why he's putting up with you when your break up was as bad as it was. Perhaps because of your sort-of friendship?
You listen, intently, trying to piece together what actually happened out of the scraps Jake was throwing out at you. It was difficult, but you were slowly putting things together as you headed towards your small apartment. It wasn’t really anything to be too proud of, but you had a thing about living near the water. It was comforting, being able to hear the sound of waves at night. Honestly, it was the one thing that you couldn’t shake during your session- it was less of a homesickness and more of a general lack of comfort that came with being in a completely new and different sort of place.
Which was good, because if you let down your guard on LOTAK there would be consequences. Of course you’re dead now anyway, so that seems a bit silly in hindsight. At least, going on the assumption you were ACTUALLY dead.
You tried not to sound too annoyed when he mentioned the blue dream troll. His fucking dream girl. Of course. So naturally you kept your mouth shut as long as possible without making it too obvious. No need to start your reunion out with a snark fest.
"Well I’d say at least you’re here now but I’m still not sure whether that’s exactly a positive or not. At the very least though, it could be worse. You won’t have to be my husband to be a house slave.”
That was hardly a funny joke Dirk.
Oh well. You can’t win them all.
And That cannot go without an eyeroll from yourself.
"Very funny, Strider."
Sarcasm at it's finest. Good job, Jake.
You are now more sure that you should have left Aranea out. At least, You were smart enough to leave out the almost kiss and BGDirk. Who knows what he would have thought of that. Much better, Not to tell him.
Honestly, You aren't surprised at the location he chose to stay in. This was the next best thing he could get to home, You suppose, unless you're totally reading into it wrong and he chose it for a completely different reason.
You didn’t really expect Jake to sound so surprised. But then again, maybe you were just reading into things. It was difficult to tell at this point. There was so much subtext between you two at this point… well… it was impossible to pretend you were both completely fine. Still, perhaps the other man really was starting to grow, think about how his actions affected others.
It was kind of nice to see, you think. Even if it was under such unfortunate circumstances.
"Stay as long as you’d like," you say off-handedly. It was, you assume, what people told guests. You barely even used the place other than somewhere to sit out of the weather and sun. You didn’t really sleep at all, especially not since you died and all. In hindsight, saying "as long as you need" probably would have been the better choice. But that was not, as it turns out, what came out of your mouth.
"What’s been going on…?" You knew you left in a mess, of course. But the fact that you needed to be caught up to speed. Well, it didn’t bode well, you assumed. "Yeah, go ahead." At the very least, it would give you something to talk about that wasn’t rubbing salt in the wound level awkward.
Alright, Time to catch the other up to speed. You take a few seconds to piece everything together in your mind. It's a rather long story-
"Well, after we went god tier..Jane sorta went...bonkers." Now, that had been a nightmare all in it's self to you. Especially considering the fact that you had no pants during that time. Now that is something you are not going to mention to dirk.
It makes you even more thankful that you have your shorts here. It would have been pretty embarrassing to have to be having a conversation in those...What could you even call what you were wearing? Okay,Never mind that, Focus.
"I'm pretty sure the batterwitch had something to do with that-And My grandmother ended up showing up and being evil?" You're still not what sure to make of that . That had been rather...scary if you were to admit it.
"I'm not really sure what their plans were exactly. All I know is that Jane planned to make me her weird husband slave." Not going into detail about that, nope. That would mean having to explain about Brain Ghost Dirk.
"And then Aranea showed up somehow and did something to me-After that,It got all sorta blurry and I'm pretty sure Jane ended up forking me to death."

I texted Koko at 8:47 this morning telling her I was going to get to bed.
I think this is a great summary of our relationship.
Three people found you
She chuckled a bit.
"I understand. I would say ask the locals around here but, they are are a bit…strange, but at least they are peaceful" She replied
She started to walk a little bit a head
"So, what’s your name? My name’s Serah" She introduced
He follows her, blinking a bit at her name. It's a bit strange actually, but still- "That's a nice sounding name!"Jake compliments before giving her a tiny bow, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Serah-I'm Jake English."

You think about this, because you’re not entirely sure how to react to the entire situation you’ve been shoved into now.
Your ex-boyfriend. Your still sort of friend that you still kind of have feelings for okay sort of totally still have feelings for is here, with you, and you’re both apparently dead.
This was like some really fucked up French arthouse film and you weren’t entirely sure you liked it. But at the least, it could be worse. Far worse, really.
"It’s all right in a super white bread sort of way. I’ve made approximately no progress with doing anything useful except wander around the town. And I’ve set up a fairly sweet pad, so I guess at the very least you can crash on my couch or something until you get your bearings for the place," you say without really thinking about how that might be considered odd or strange. Frankly, there was no time for you to get used to the idea that you shouldn’t be nice and or friendly to Jake. You should probably act mad and offended and hurt, because you sort of were all those things.
But you also still wanted to be a good friend, despite that. And so you motioned towards the water, near where your apartment was.
You definitely weren't expecting him to offer that, but it sorta makes you a bit relieved that you don't have to be on your own for a while. At the same time, It definitely..confuses you. You would have thought He would have been mad at you or pissed so the fact that he's actually being pretty friendly to you is strange.
"I'll probably just stay for a few days then. Thanks, Dirk." A few days only for the reason that You wouldn't want to intrude on the man's privacy! Not to mention, It'll probably get awkward really fast. As if it isn't awkward already.
You glance at the water, blinking a bit surprised. You weren't expecting him to live so close. "I could catch you up to speed,if you'd like, on what's been going on back home?"
You seriously doubt he knows what's been going on. That Jane went bonkers, That your grandmother had shown up and all the other strange things that had been going on since you had went god tier. It'll certainly be interesting to see what he has to say about it.
A few hours. You couldn’t help but feel guilty. Maybe, just maybe if you had still been alive you could have prevented this fate for Jake.
Then again, you still weren’t entirely sure how YOU had died either.
It must have been heroic, or just, you supposed. It was the only way to kill you now, wasn’t it?
"… a week or two, I guess." You reply, but you’d honestly lost track of the time after you arrived. Every day sort of melded into the next. Everything here was so bland and vanilla compared to your old world.
"Ah.."
You're not sure how you feel about that. You have so much to ask him, but you just...don't know how to bring it up.
'Is it nice here..?"
That question, however, is something is perfectly..acceptable to ask. It's better than you just coming out and asking how he died. The fact that Dirk had died somehow meant that there must been something pretty strong in their world..and Just because you remember..doesn't mean he does.
WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?
"Well…Actually, I wouldn’t want to visit anywhere! I’d rather just go back home to my island and stay there…"
Three people found you
"A store? I believe it’s a few blocks down from here" She replied pointing down the street
She was sure of it, but then again. She had only gone once. She wasn’t very familiar with the area yet
"At least I think there should be. If you’d like I can help you look for it" She added
"That would be most appreciated, actually." He scratches the back of his head, looking in the direction the pinkette had pointed."I'd probably just end up getting lost as I just got here." Not to mention, A lot of these..buildings were very uniform. The locals weren't particularly good at giving directions either.

"Yeah, likewise."
You have such conflicted feelings. While it was a relief to see a familiar face, the fact that it was Jake, the fact that it meant he was dead was all a lot to take in.
"You just get here?"
Real fuckin’ cool Strider.
You nod.
"Only been here for a few hours,actually..."
You can't resist the urge to raise a eyebrow in turn,a slight frown coming onto your face.
"How long have you been here...?"
It's a bit concerning to think that if the little suspicion Jake had meant Dirk had been dead all this time-Would that have meant he had been alone?
goldpage started following you
"So… he’s here too."
"..I..wasn't expecting you here,Dirk." He had been expecting anyone else quite frankly.
Three people found you
"Oh, Hello. Can I help you?" The Pinkette Greeted
Finally! Someone who wasn't one of those dreaded natives! "Um,Yes. You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest store is, Would you?"
