I think this is my favorite socmed au post that I've made. The way information slowly is revealed through people talking about it before you see the posts themselves i feel like captures the actual feeling of being out of the loop on social media & seeing the memes before you see the context. I don't think I captured it very well anywhere else but i like this page

Will the AU follow canon? I can see it very easily going a different direction if the leafspeaker and rootslies stuff results in a different or sooner confrontation, but I can also see it spinning out the way given certain things don’t go as expected.

I originally wanted to follow canon events to a T but when i realized there was a year between bfb episodes before the split I realized we were definitely going off those rails. At this point I kind of want to do my own thing. Keeping the characters in-character and feeling like themselves is always my top priority though.

This will pppppprrrrrobably become an "alternate timeline" where the same sort of conversation happens earlier rather than later, maybe... I haven't decided yet. While i do have most big plot point generally planned out i actually don't write too far ahead of each update 😭 this is my fast and loose writing style, "dialogue" heavy and mostly situational comedy. It's where i'm most confident in my writing which is why i don't feel the need to rewrite much (which probably shows lol sorry) outside of a couple BIG heavy plot conversations (I rewrote, multiple times, a few firey & leafy conversations under their different aliases to make sure i was communicating their voices properly,, in my own eyes at least.) I wrote several different versions of a few different scenes that will never see the light of day though 😆 hopefully things keep going smoothly. rest assured I never write a big plot twist without thinking several steps ahead.

Just to be clear. I do have a plan for the next arc. I realized that while i could and it would be pretty funny, I didnt want to keep writing the same "firey & leafy flirt and then both have private crashouts about manipulating each other" fifteen times, we'd done enough of that & needed a twist, needed some freshness. Now .... (presumably) Leafy knows FIREY'S identity, and now she has the upper hand on him after he has the upper hand, so to speak, for the entire first few parts. somebody already pointed out the reversal of power here and theyre fully correct. the majority of the beginning of the story has been more in firey's POV as he kind of strings Leafy along a bit (even if she did kind of set herself up lol) so it's only fair for him to be strung along too.

and leafy will be a bit bolder than firey was.
