— an intro to: isabel "bell" whitman (about ● wanted connections)
key background info:
moved to heartsdale when she was a kid and has a twin brother who gets on her nerve.
they possibly have a slightly younger sister (wanted connection) with whom bell has a very kat x bianca dynamic.
her dad's family has a number of companies, mainly in publishing and printing, but they do have farms too. her mother wasn't really that much of a mother, she was very critical and mostly career-oriented, so they didn't have a close relationship.
her mother was a famous best-selling author who became even more famous after she disappeared, months before she launched the final novel of her book series (bell was sixteen). unfortunately for bell, she always loved to write, which often instigated comparisons.
to this day, the case remains unsolved. some people think her father killed her mother, she thinks her mother ran away to live the life she truly wanted.
despite how much she abhorred the idea of living in her Joan's shadow, she went to Brown and got her degree in literary studies.
after she graduated, Bell lived in Atlanta for three years, working in publishing as an associate editor until she had saved enough money to take some time off and write.
"The Vanishing", her debut novel, was a NY Times best-seller. the book received grand reviews, but some critics claimed it wouldn't have been as successful if it wasn't for her name. well, it's been two years and her agent is pressuring her to pitch her next work, but she's scared it won't be as good and she'll be deemed a one-time wonder who couldn't make her own name.
