I wanted to try out some lace piping that I had see on a lot of popular wedding cakes lately. I combined it with a grey and yellow color palette. Also super popular at the time. . I posted the cake to my IG and my Facebook. It got tons of likes and interest from brides. Eventually it was even noticed by a local bridal magazine. They asked if I could recreate it for the COVER!! . I got SO MANY ORDERS from this cover! I also made some amazing wedding industry connections that I still have today! . I had no idea this would happen but I’m a firm believer that if you put out the work you want more of instead of posting the work you’re sick of, amazing things happen! . Opportunities come that you never expected. . Most of all, you fulfill that deep artistic desire within yourself that needs to be creative. Where are my macaron people?? . . When you make a flavored macaron, do you gamble with flavoring the shell? Or just the filling??? . . If you’ve tried flavoring the shell, you’ve probably had your fair share of fails. The temperamental meringue is the culprit - a little too much extract and it’s game over!! And don’t even think about using an oil. . . So.... Imagine my excitement when I learned that you can flavor your cookie with an emulsion!!! . . @sugargeekshow used Strawberry Emulsion (1 tsp added to her stiff meringue) to create a fresh and flavorful cookie with a beautiful pink hue. . . I was looking through some old photos and cane across a whole lotta cake photos that have never seen the light of social media. It’s funny how I wasn’t sure if I liked this cake at the time but four years later, I think it’s one of my favorites! The flowers are fresh and provided by my fave florist @swoon_floraldesign. My process for cakes with fresh flowers is I would arrive an hour early to allow time for setup. She would be setting up florals at the same time and always made sure I hade a ton of flowers to choose from! I’d start with the biggest flowers and then add in smaller flowers around them. Then I’d fill in holes with leaves and other small flowers. I actually loved adding flowers! Make sure you always prepare your flowers before putting them in a cake. Never stick fresh flowers directly into a cake.
