Anyone there...? *peeks out*
"SooooooâŠ..blondes in bikinisâŠ..?"
"Hey we weren't doing anything' Â all I did was stare. Â How could I not?" He paused. Â "Howard's fault."
I'm back~
I think I'll hide here till this blows over.
"It'll stop being the topic of conversation someday...right?"

"Pub is great." She would never say no to the pub. Ever. And if she did, it was a sure sign some alien life force had taken over her body. It was a nice little place. Underground and British in design. Much like the pubs they had spent time in during the war.
Perhaps thatâs why they all liked it so much.
Well, that and it was walking distance from Bexâs place. Which made stumbling home drunk all that much easier. âMine is, actuallyâŠIâm just a few blocks off."
It probably was why they all liked it. Â After all it had been Falsworth who scouted it out and found it for them. Â If Falsworth liked it, then it had to be good. Â Dugan could not deny the smile that was on lips when she agreed that the pub was a good spot. Â He could not deny that he would have had to scramble a bit to figure out a different one.
"Then the Pub...then perhaps back to your place?" he suggested. Â There was no way Dugan was about to assume anything, he was in no rush to possibly mess things up or say the wrong thing.
Work for SHIELD. Â Seems like itâs the only place for anyone like us these days.
Been there, done that, got fired. Â
Might be I can work myself back up to it one of these days. Â For now, Iâm stuck on my ass at home. Â
Well that's not necessarily a bad thing bud, somedays wish I could be stuck on my ass.

That was the best idea she had heard all afternoon. âYour place or mine?" While it was mostly a joke, she wouldnât object to going back to one of their places. In fact, she was rather counting on them eventually ending up there. She just sort of assumed there would be food and beer along the way.
For if there was one thing her time with the Commandos had taught her, it was that there was always food and beer.
Leaning into him, Bex allowed herself to be guided towards the elevator, well aware of the several pairs of eyes watching them.
Dugan shot a glare back over his shoulder towards the office, where he knew that they were. Â Of course they were there watching, unless his glare had been as threatening as he thought it would be. Â As to the question of who's place? Â
"Whichever is closer to where the pub is," he answered simply. Â There was one he and the others always frequented. Â They were regulars there, knew their faces. Â Hell the bar tender knew his and others order. Â The food was good and it was decent enough place. Â "Unless you'd prefer somewhere else?" he offered, hitting the button on the elevator to go up.
Union Jack! Â Aka James Falsworth. Â Go my minions go!

The Commandos were a family. Â They looked out for each other as those years went on and as everything became harder. Â Hell they had been there after Duganâs wife had passed away, stayed with him for days afterwards, and even then Bex stayed longer. Â She was always there. Â No matter what she was always there.
His arm wrapped around her waist, holding her close to him, pressing his lips back against hers. Â It had been far too long, and he did not want to waste anymore time.
When she finally did pull away, just enough so that she could breathe, but not leave his arms, she looked up at him. âWhat are we going to do about the peanut gallery?"
Because she was not so naive as to think that once they left the office they were alone. Oh no. She knew the other Commandos had been spying on them this whole time. Itâs exactly what she would have done.Â
No doubt they were in for some shit when they returned to the office.
Of course they had been spying. Â That was there style. Â They had also been making bets on how long it would take for the two of them to get over their shit and admit that they liked each other. Â Not that any of them had expected it to take ninety years. The bets kept changing. Â The winner? Â Yet to be determined.
"Let's let them wonder..." he muttered, his arm still around her. Â They may have been spying but that did not necessarily mean he had any intention of playing right into their hands. Â "Come on...let's get out of here and leave them to bicker."

Over the years, the Commandos had become every bit as important to Bex as Bucky and Steve. They were the ones that had been here for her in the interim years. When the grief became too much, they were the ones that kept her from falling into it. As the anniversaries approached and things got harder, they were the ones that kept her from drinking herself into oblivion. And more than any of them, there had been DuganâŠwho had just been there whenever she needed him and sometimes even when she didnât want him to be.
More than once the former soldier had dumped her drunken ass in a cold shower. She hadnât liked him very much in those moments. But she had always loved him.
"I knowâŠ" She did. He had been married. He had kids. For many years his place had been with his family. But nowâŠ
She rose up on tip toe, but even then she had to pull him down to her for another kiss. She had waited far too long already.

Well didnât know him then so canât judge.
Fair enough. Â
Figure Iâd better stop goinâ on about the old days. Â Whatâs keeping you around, Dugan? You pick up a job anywhere? Â
Work for SHIELD. Â Seems like it's the only place for anyone like us these days.

Dugan froze in his place when she questioned him. Â Did he really want to tell her? Â Could he really tell her when he could hardly admit it allowed to himself? Â It seemed like an impossible thing, that he could do that. Â He acted on instinct.
Dugan turned around, he stepped close, closing the distance between them as he pressed his lips to hers.  "I love youâŠ"
She stood there, hands on her hips, waiting for Dugan to tell her just what had him acting so screwy. And when he first took a step towards her, she was sure more yelling was coming and so she steeled herself against what she was sure was going to be a burst of the Irishmanâs temper. What happened insteadâŠwellâŠit left Bex speechless.
He had kissed her, WAS kissing her. What she had waited nearly 90 years for was finallyâŠ
"I love you too." Her voice was a bit breathless as she looked up at him, having pulled away just enough to answer him back. âI have for a long time."
Dugan could not believe his ears. Â She loved him too. Â After 90 years, 90 long years of being in complete denial that he had fallen for her. Â Of not allowing himself to admit it after the the death of his wife. Â Everything had been fine, then went downhill so very fast. Â His children wanted nothing to do with him. Â The only people who seemed to give a damn was the Commandos.
His hand was on her cheek, resting lightly against her. Â "Same...I just. Â I couldn't..."

Good. Â Cause you certainly didnât then.
Cut me a break. Â At least I was better than Steve pre-serum. Â Poor fella couldnât handle more than two. Â

"Try me!" She was not going to let this go. She had known him too long to let this go. Something was bothering him and at the route of that something was her. She didnât like it. She didnât like the idea that things between her and Dugan werenât okay. He was too important â and she had loved him for too long â for that.
"What is so incredible that I wouldnât believe you? After everything weâve seen and done since the war? What?"
