I’ve never considered myself a realist. Most of my background influence and inspiration comes from cartooning. Whenever I drew anything, I always outlined in black. After examining my work in a new light, I began to focus on what I was actually seeing and painting items as they actually are. Most of my individual paintings take around six hours to complete. I didn’t think that doing seventeen individual paintings of underwear would get me anywhere, and I decided to use the whole space of the paper for this, rather than leave white space. In 2012, I purchased this shirt dress from Old Navy. This dress was very short so I had to wear it with leggings. I bought this sweater and was really feeling myself in this. I only wore it a few times and realized that it just wasn’t cute. I saw a picture of me in this and I hated it. I painted this picture in a way that I felt gave it life when I first saw it in this thrift store. . This is a remake of Item 1. (The Safari Dress). This dress was amazing-I thrifted it new with tags. I ended up becoming friends in this dress with @listenstowindchimes ! It unfortunately met its demise when I felt it rip up the side...it was kind of tight in the thigh area. I had to remake this painting because I felt like I wasn’t doing it justice.
