I know, don’t freak out. It’s me. Risen from the depths of barely active tumblr accounts.

I couldn’t even tell you what the last tumblr post I made was, aside from a couple reblogs just to keep the page active because I wasn’t ready to let GBB go yet. I’d been thinking of deleting/archiving the page for a very long time but some things in my life have changed and brought me back here.

First of all, I’ve graduated from college. I worked in NYC for 10 months serving with Americorps and then moved to Rhode Island to start anew. I’ve been here for nearly a year.

I had a cool job at an oceanography firm, but due to panic within and around the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in the United States following the flaming dumpster fire that was our election, I was laid off. They couldn’t hire me full time as they had promised after several months of internship because the EPA and other clients were cutting projects previously promised to our firm. I was so wounded by my termination, partially because I thought I had finally struggled enough and had found a job I could grow with for years.

The other part of my crisis was largely because I realized I didn’t actually like oceanography all that much. And that everything I had wanted for the last four years wasn’t actually what I wanted for my life at all.

So fuck me, right?

But after quite a bit of soul searching and licking my wounds, I think I know what I want.

I want to start a goldfish farm. I don’t know how I’ll get there or how to do it, but I think it’s the path I’m meant for. Whether that means going back for another bachelors (my first one is in Geography and Environmental Science) or going to graduate school or even going without further schooling... I have no fucking idea. That’s partially why I want to blog about this -- so I can kind of noodle around some ideas and possibly get some feedback.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I just wanted to throw out a hello for those of you still other there and interested in GBB. There’s still a couple thousand of you on my followers list, so someone’s likely to read this, right?

Nice clean tank! Also I think I need to invest in a tripod, look at my compete inability to keep the camera level. 

I have so many red cherries in here now, I saw more than 20 in a cursory sweep of the tank, and thats not including the just hatched babies I noticed. 

It feels really good to have the tank neatened up again. Letting it do its own thing is all good and fine, but doing a deep algae scrub and a plant trim sure is good for the soul.That one Hygro has a mind of it’s own though, it’s rooted into two separate teapots as well as the bottom of the tank. You do you massive hygro, you do you.

Betta owner: this is my fish, he's a partial-dragon red devil traditional halfmoon plakat. He's from a ten-generation line originating from an IBC best-in-show winner, imported directly from Bangkok. I paid three months salary for him.

Cichlid owner: this is my fish, he's a rare colour morph of a recently discovered species that doesn't even have a scientific name yet. I had to search twenty stores and six websites to find him. I think his species might already be extinct in the wild.

Goldfish owner: this is my fish. He's fat and adorable and good.

One of my best friends from middle school just got engaged to her highschool boyfriend and I just want to crawl away and shrivel into the lonely old lady I truly am. Like I literally just drank apple juice and worked on a puzzle before bed.
