[ EQUUS S E N T E N C E M E M E ] ( PETER SHAFFER. )
“Worse than useless; they are, in fact, subversive.”
“It is good of you to see me right away.”
“Well, what am I?”
“I feel the job is unworthy to fill me.”
“What’s the matter? Don’t you like it?”
“Everything will change if you let them change.”
“Call it what you like. All that stuff to me is just bad sex.”
“Do you dream often?”
“Did I scare you?”
“Put a finger on me and I will bash you!”
“Please don’t be hysterical.”
“You are a public menace, do you know that?”
“Upper class riff-raff! That’s all they are.”
“I told you a secret now you tell me one.”
“In all fairness, I must admit it was a bit extreme.”
“This must have been a terrible experience for you.”
“Isn’t it peculiar?”
“Does it hurt?”
“I hate this! I’ve had it!”
“I was just passing. I hope it’s not too late.”
“Everything that happens in this room is confidential.”
“Do you have something to tell me?”
“Religion. Religion is at the bottom of all this.”
“I thought you ought to know. So I came.”
“I have seen you too, haven’t I?”
“When was this? About a year ago?”
“No….No……I do not want to.”
“I don’t mind.”
“You’ll soon get the hang of it.”
“You’ve got a feel for it, I can tell.”
“Keep it nice & easy. Never rush.”
“It must have been marvelous. Tell me.”
“Answer me!”
“That’s not very funny.”
“Then what? Do you fuck her?”
“We are not playing that game right now.”
“Will you embarrass me? I suspect you are about to.”
“You have no children, have you?”
“It actually worked for a bit. I mean for both of us.”
“It’s you who are wicked, you know!”
“She turned into a monster. The familiar domestic monster.”
“That is cruel.”
“It still means something.”
“You are really quite splendid.”
“It was stupid. What I said, I mean.”
“Try & keep your mind as blank as possible.”
“You don’t have to do it, if you don’t want to.”
“It never comes out. They have me in chains.”
“Ride — or fall. As simple as that.”
“Go, then. Leave me behind.”
“Take my sins. Eat them for my sake.”
“Why?…Why me?…..”
“I must ask you never to come here again.”
“Don’t you dare look at me like that! Don’t you dare give me that stare.”
“What on earth has gotten into you?”
“You ought to be locked up. With your lies & bloody tricks.”
“Poor bloody fool.”
“I am in pain. I have been in pain for the most of my life.”
“Better than going to sleep, isn’t it?”
“I bet this room has heard some funny things.”
220th night countdown: Day 2 - Science Division

“A-are you sure? You’re not working yourselves too hard again, are you?” Of course, it was simply in the vampire exorcist’s nature to worry about others.
“Couldn’t I, at least, make you all some coffee or tea?” Lenalee was currently out on a mission, so there wasn’t really anybody to make the Science Division members warm, comforting drinks. Hopefully Reever would take up his offer – Krory really didn’t like to see them so… sickly pale and zombie-like from working so hard.
The Australian was about to reassure the other once again, even though in truth he really did need a break. But then the pale Exorcist mentioned coffee, and with Lenalee off for a lengthy mission, the warm beverage had become scarce.
“ Ah, would you do that? Coffee would be great! ” he replied, seemingly having cheered up by just the mention of the drink. He didn’t know how good Krory was at making coffee, especially compared to Lenalee’s magnificent work, but by now, anything that resembled it was more than welcome.

Dark eyes watched intently from behind wireframe glasses, took in every twitch of Reever’s expression and every telltale sign of his feelings on the matter at hand. The Australian was easy to read – he could not help but wear his heart on his sleeve no matter how much he tried to cover it up, it seemed. The observation filled Komui with fondness; Reever was a good man indeed.
Still, he could not help but leave the man on edge for just a little while longer.
“His whereabouts are unknown at the present time, yes. You seem relieved, Section Chief Reever … by the way, is that a new tie?”
So he really got away... Reever had been unsure all this time, could only hope and have faith in the scrawny scientist, but now the weight of his worries was finally lifted. Well, he had expected nothing less. Johnny might not have been the most athletic, fit person around, but he was most certainly smart and very stubborn. Of course he would have managed, somehow...
“ Well, I do prefer my men— former men to stay clear from any CROWs, “ he replied truthfully, even though that wasn’t really the prime reason for his alleviation. Reever wasn’t sure yet how much he could tell Komui, who else would get to hear his answers, so he kept to himself. He was careful. Until Komui would give him the okay, that is.
The question that followed, managed to catch Reever by surprise. With slight confusion written on his face, he looked down to find there not his old, worn tie but the new one. There was only a slight difference in looks, but for anyone who paid attention, it was clear to see. Of course Chief Komui paid attention. With a slightly sourer look, the scientist looked up, raising an eyebrow and resisting the urge to growl something in reply. “ Yes, it is, “ he answered instead, unable to keep a slight edge from his voice, “ I had to get a new one. ” Because he had given his previous tie to a a certain ex-coworker...

Answering the question with a counter question? How boring. Komui’s lips twitched in amusement – undoubtedly, that course of action ought to be the safest one, but it spoke of uncertainty; he had expected the other to be a little bolder in his choice of reply. Perhaps it truly was that the recent events had unsettled Reever to a point where he would rather play it safe than face the consequences of a possible error?
“Perhaps not,” he admitted, absentmindedly interlocking his fingers in front of his chest. “Although it seems some of our activity has shifted beyond these walls as of late.”
He gave the other a moment to let that sink in before the smile dropped from his lips, leaving him with an earnest expression that meant business. In spite of the fact that Reever towered over him whilst he remained seated at his desk, the look on his face demanded respect, as did the tone of voice in which he laid out the recent developments that had prompted him to call upon the Section Chief. “It has been brought to my attention that one of your former men has resisted the intake of memory erasure serum and by yet unknown means eluded arrest by the hands of several CROW.”
Reever felt a chill roll down his spine at the other’s comment, knowing exactly what the man was talking about. It seemed Chief Komui had finally decided to drop the games and get to the point. It wasn’t much of a surprise that this was why he had called his subordinate, and yet Reever still felt the nervous sweat bead trickle down his temple.
But when the curly haired Branch Chief informed him of what had happened, Reever could not help but to heave a relieved sigh. Johnny had gotten away. He had somehow managed to and now he was out there, memories in tact, looking for Allen. Reever wondered shortly if he had found him yet, how they were doing, whether Allen was still Allen... The presence of his Supervisor however urged Reever to keep himself in check, to retain a carefully calculated expression, even though he knew Chief Komui would be able to see right through it at this point.
“ That’s— “ he managed, uncertain of how to continue. Fortunate? Troublesome? Of course Reever was glad, but he knew the Order would disagree. “ So he got away? “ he eventually dared to ask, an insuppressible gleam of hope in his eyes. He had to know... Reever had put his trust in Komui many years ago and had now decided to trust him once again, no matter the consequences.

A small smile played on Komui’s lips at the other’s casual comment – trust Reever to feign such nonchalance about their situation. It was a show of intelligence just as much as trust: A signal that Reever was aware of the nature of the atmosphere surrounding them and proof that the man placed his faith into the fact that Komui would have his back even in the face of something that should have made him a suspect for possible insubordination. However, Reever’s seemingly risky statement was in reality not risky at all – they both knew they shared the same opinion when it came to the ones higher up in the chain.
“Ah, but the two of us are not the only ones who have been busy, are we?” An amiable smile accompanied the statement alongside a calculating gaze from behind pentagonal glasses – he thoroughly enjoyed playing those little mind games with Reever.
He raised his chin, observing the curly-haired man with a blank expression. He wasn’t sure what to expect, but the little smile tugging at Chief Komui’s lips and the way he looked at his subordinate weren’t unknown to Reever. Whenever the other acted like this, musing and thinking and talking in goddamn riddles, Reever knew he had to pay attention. This was the side of Komui that had earned him his job, that had enabled him to raise in ranks so quickly.
The Australian frowned at Komui’s reply, taking it in and thinking about it carefully before deciding how to reply. He could just have him cut the chase, tell him what he was getting at, it would be easier for the both of them. And yet... Reever was hesitant to break their little game, their sparring with puzzles and carefully constructed retorts.
“ Hmm, are we ever, though? “ he mused carefully after a short break, eyeing the Supervisor attentively. What did he mean, exactly? Of course Reever had a hunch, being summoned suddenly after the most recent events, but he could never be too sure. Not when Chief Komui was playing games like this...
are you impressed by my mediocre photoshop skills yet?
Well anyway, that you so much to everyone who’s currently following me for helping me to reach my first hundred followers! The D. Gray Man fandom is a small one but arguably the one I’ve enjoyed being a part of most, with all its talented and super friendly members, and I adore practically every RP blog for DGM that I’ve been able to hunt down as well as those for other fandoms/OCs. Another perk of smaller fandoms is that it pushes you to branch out a bit more. i’m a slut for so many omg. My love for the story and characters faded a bit over the infamous hiatus but, honestly, I’m extremely glad that one update was enough to drag me back. I’ve had some awesome threads, been able to develop my muse for Allen bby more, and met a few fantastic muns which I’m hoping is only the start of my stay on this blog. Now onto these particular people that I’ve had fun interacting with or just generally like to stalk watch on my dash. Please, if you’re not on this list don’t think that I don’t appreciate having you around ( because that would be a huuuuge lie ) and wow apologies in advance if I don’t correctly pair up blogs run by the same person iTried. Thanks again!! ( ˘ ³˘)♥

A knock on the door signaled the arrival of his trusted subordinate and friend – at the sound of it, Komui looked up from the paperwork he’d been diligently focused on, a rare sight at least for those who didn’t come by his office often. While he liked to keep up the appearance that he shirked his duties at every opportunity, the truth was a different matter; there were things which simply needed to be done to keep the branch running and the exorcists as far away as possible from the brunt of Central’s plans for the ‘greater good’.
“Ah, Reever – I was expecting you.” He offered the man a smile, friendly where his words traded some of their warmth for a slightly more professional tone. “Do come in.”
As the Australian shut the door behind him and approached his desk, Komui rested his elbows atop its wooden surface and brought his hands together, studying him. “… it’s been a while since we had time for a chat, hm?” You don’t look so well. Are you okay?
He approached the desk with steady steps, halting his pace a few feet from the wooden piece of furniture and observing his supervisor with curious eyes. It was not uncommon for Chief Komui to summon him to his office, they had discussed many matters over the messy desk and would talk about many more to come. And yet the scene was different this time. The vibes around them told him to keep on his toes, but at the same time the odd sensation was barely there. Well, a lot of things had changed. It had been a while they had been in just each other’s company.
Perhaps he had just become unaccustomed to seeing the Chief actually doing his paperwork.
He hummed softly in response, slightly raising an eyebrow as he looked back at the curly haired man. “ Hmm, we’ve been busy indeed and with Central on our backs... ” It was heavy statement so casually mentioned. Reever was surprised Chief Komui’s assistent wasn’t around right now. They hadn’t gotten time to slack off indeed, although the supervisor was the only one who ever really did. The slightly further rise of his thin brow however stated he knew Komui hadn’t summoned him just for some small talk and urged him to continue.
‘ shut up, don’t tell me what to do “
“ I’m— kindly suggesting? “
