âNo self-preservation instinct, huh?â
So much for an animalâs alleged danger sense. Tomura canât help but crack a smile as the dog goes to town on his hand like heâs its best friend. Is it the blood under his fingernails? He retracts his hand when it looks like that tongueâs getting a little too reckless.
âIf youâre looking for food, forget about it.â As if itâll understand a thing he says, but it just feels normal to talk right now. âWe need all the supplies we have. Besides, if you eat and get attached now, youâre just going to die in a couple hours if you stick around. It would be a waste.â Would that gorilla smash a dog? Definitely.
Speaking of which, he has about two hours left if heâs going to get his only nap in for the next two days. Heâd better get to it. Slumping over sideways, he rolls to lie with his back to the ground, curling his hands to rest atop his stomach.
âDo whatever you want, I guess, but Iâm going to sleep, Mon-chââ Pause. Whereâd he get that name from? Did he just make that up? Must have been some movie or a manga or something⊠Heâs so tired, heâs getting delirious.
Just hearing the small slip of his name had Mon-chan obediently perking up. Sleep? Yup, Tenko is gonna sleep. He sleep right here. It might not be a bed that Mon-chanâs so used to seeing all his hoomins sleep in in the past, but Mon-chan also sleeps anywhere he likes, so in his eyes, itâs a-okay! In fact, heâll even join Tenko. He sleep right here, too. Good night...!
Itâs okay if thereâs no food. He mightâve skipped a couple of days in his search, but he can still manage...! All that mattered to him now was the fact that he finally found Tenko.
And so long as he stays by Tenko, his beloved human, all will always---or at least will eventually---be good in the world.
