In the midst of such terrible tragedy there are those who rush into the breach to stem the suffering. Humanitarian aid organization Operation Blessing is on the ground to help the victims of this horrific disaster.

A girl, Laney, on a motorcycle was stopped at a red light when a kitten fell from the undercarriage of a passing car. At first she thought it was a leaf, but soon realized it was a defenseless kitten about to be run over by oncoming traffic. Watch Laney pull her motorcycle into the intersection and rescue the beautiful orange kitten she named, Skids, and is now taking care of. Awesome to see people rise up to become a hero.

We’re not quite sure if Rocksy the Raccoon is clever or not very smart, because she basically is confessing to her crime of eating the cat’s food by knocking on the door to ask for more. One thing I am sure of – Rocksy is super cute! I can’t help but want to ask her to give Rocksy the cat food, because the rock on the door trick is pretty annoying…then I remembered I can mute my computer and watch this cute raccoon do her rock knock. Recording an album can be hard enough here on earth, but Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield took it to another level by recording tracks for his new album, “Space Session: Songs From a Tin Can”, while onboard the International Space Station. The recording was more difficult because the zero-gravity conditions lead to tongue and vocal chord swelling – making it more difficult to control his voice. Many of the songs were tracked in his sleeping pod using a microphone attached to his iPad. The final songs were produced, cleaned up and filled in back here on earth. Two of the songs have been pre-released, including this official lyric video for the song “Feet Up.”

Chris is also credited with being the first person to film a music video in space when he covered the David Bowie classic, “Space Oddity.”

Fourteen years ago, Bretagne was part of a 9/11 search and rescue team with Denise Corliss (handler and mom) and the K-9 unit of Texas Task Force 1. As the last known living rescue dog that worked at Ground Zero, this amazing golden retriever was given a hero’s welcome in NYC to honor her efforts and celebrate her 16th birthday. To all the heroes who gave their all in the wake of such tragedy, we say thank you…and to the families and victims…we stand with you and will never forget.
