can someone write a really emotional fic about Rhett and Link going back to the “creative house” after they filmed the fanfic episode and having a deep intense and steaming conversation about their feelings??? I need this and I can’t write

Can you imagine, though, if they had chosen a truly moving, in-character, real-world ficlet to read? Like one with hard-hitting feeling and confessions of hidden love instead of tropey or kinky stuff that’s good for a laugh?

i bet if they had to read serious fic they wouldn’t be able to get thru any of it at all. because all the “weird” kinks are easy to use as an excuse to make jokes and be wilded out, but imagine it WAS in-character real-world romance/fluff stuff. that shit would knock them on their asses so fast

This series has given so many feelings. It has reminded me what made me so captivated by Rhett and Link when I started watching them 10 years ago. There’s a love in their friendship that I remember having with my childhood best friend. The meeting places, the code words, the late night shananigans around the neighborhood, the adventures by the lake. Something about Rhett and Link’s friendship brings up that nostalgia for me and for all of us; I think that’s why we love it so much. The promise they made to each other, and the fact that they kept it all these years, is the most beautiful display of love, of any kind. We love to ship them and write fic and make gifs but what makes Rhett and Link different from so many other ships is that their love for each other is not a secret. Them sitting on the rocks getting emotional about renewing their blood oath to each other was enough to tell us how they feel.

This is so sappy but I wish we could just see them like this all the time. Sometimes I’m like “how have I been watching these men gag on testicles for 10 years” but it’s moments like this I remember.

Okay, so today’s episode had them renewing the blood oath, but I couldn’t help but feel a bit of melancholy about it because I still think Link has a reluctance to do big, emotional things on camera and it wasn’t quite what Rhett had hoped for. So, I wrote what happened later that night hastily because I have to get ready for work now. Enjoy.

for some reason mobile didn’t give me this notification so i apologize, i would have answered this much sooner if i saw the notification!

i was at the nc show and unfortunately i don’t remember word for word what he said, but it was during the part where link was on the big rock and rhett was on the small rock, during the part just before the “renewing their vows” part, and i just remember him saying when they were talking about college that he was really afraid of rhett getting a basketball scholarship and going to a different school than him, but that he didn’t say anything to rhett about it at the time because he felt like it would be weird or selfish as a seventeen year old boy to ask his best friend to pass up an opportunity like that so that they could stay together

i really wish i remembered exactly what he said, but his whole demeanor was…very vulnerable and a little self-deprecating during, and rhett was very quiet and attentive while he was talking about it. 

even not looking at it with shipper goggles, which i know all of us are prone to do, it was just…very clear how afraid link was of losing rhett. even all these years later you could tell that he was a little teary-eyed just talking about it.
