Tom was on the complete other end of things. He wanted to sit back and take things in for⦠however long it took. Exploring was definitely on his agenda, but maybe for not a few days. He canāt describe it, but thereās something about the beginning. Itās meant to savor, take slow, lull. And that goes for the beginning of anything. But ESPECIALLY travel. ESPECIALLY when they have all the time in the world here! Why jump into things?
Tomās hand rests across his stomach, rising and falling with his breath. Okay, heās not dead. Just resting. The background hum of the lights, the footsteps echoing off the nonexistent acoustics of the marble floors and walls, the breaking of waves nearby, it was all perfect white noise and Tom couldāve totally fallen asleep right there. He stretches out, his hoodie hiking up his stomach a little. Suddenly, a voice appears that sounds a LOT closer than the background chatter. His eyes shoot open and he pulls his head up.
āAh! Jeez, you scared me just a bit, hahahaha!ā Thomas giggles whimsically but deeply, sitting up a bit onto his elbows. āYeah, not my best call⦠most of my stuff is long sleeves. Hopefully thereās a shop or something I can get some more tees. Iām okay for now!ā He flashes a thumbs up and sits up fully.
āItās good to see someone! Have you done some exploring already? Or did you just get here like me?ā
Bloody hell. Andrew was definitely not expecting to scare someone at all ā let alone during an introduction⦠but it would appear that the person in question was so damn relaxed that maybe they dozed off for a moment? The jet lag was known to be an unforgiving bitch later on. His eyebrows shot upward with the sudden scare, lips trembling between a smile and legit concern for the other man. Who falls asleep at the entrance? Everyone else was mingling or collecting the keys to go to their rooms and unpack ā something he too needed to do within a foreseeable future. But right now, he was making sure that the other man was⦠alright? He seemed to be asleep, from what he could tell. What an odd character that was.
āApologies.ā He offered a polite smile, quickly offering his hand to the odd man in the hoodie ā it was hard not to stand out wearing that. āIām Andrew. Drew, for friends. I am terribly sorry for having disrupted your uh⦠nap.ā Nothing wrong with micro-naps. He didnāt do those but he fully supported those who did. More power to them. āI believe we should be going to our rooms and exploration comes after. Maybe then you can find yourself something moreā¦ā Summer-y. āSuitable. I just arrived as well, so I have not done any exploring⦠but once I get my mittens on a map⦠you can bet I will do my fair share of sightseeing around the place. Find a shop with clothes, maybe!ā
Thomas instinctively took Andrewās outstretched hand, like if you give someone whoās talking on the phone an item to hold and theyāll just do it without question. The guy did make a good point, lounging around in the lobby, as nice as it was, delayed the process of getting comfortable, rather than contributed to it. Tom pulls himself up with Andrewās arm, almost over correcting his balance and toppling forward, but his lean catches him and he rights himself, stretching on his tip toes.
āAhhhh, thanks. Was worried I wouldnāt ever get up with how comfy that was⦠heh.ā He slings his bag right back onto his shoulder and walks in front of Andrew toward the front desk. āIām Tom, no worries about the nap thing. Hey, letās check in together! Imagine we have the same villa! Thatāll be so fun! Coral?ā Tom excitedly asks, hoping this good looking dude will be in proximity. New friend on lock! The breezy A/C blew under their legs, in a way that only a resort could seem to recreate. You couldnāt get this kind of air back home. Everything was stale or muggy, but here it was aromatic, balmy, clean. Tom took every breath deep and slow.
