In the next couple of days we’re releasing a pilot for a new web series, and if enough people watch it before Friday next week NZST, we might get to make the whole thing!

We’re really excited about this project - not only will it be beautiful and funny and full of angst, it’ll also be a new medium. Part webseries, part… something else. We can’t tell you any more than that at the moment, but suffice to say: we really want you to see it.

So! How can you help the series get made? WATCH THE PILOT. SHARE THE PILOT. MAKE GIFS OF THE PILOT. PAINT FAN ART OF THE PILOT ON THE CEILING OF THE SISTINE CHAPEL AND CLAIM THAT YOU MADE IT BETTER. The more you engage with the video, and encourage people to see it, the more likely it is that we’ll get to make it. This is everything you have been training for, fandles. Thomasin McKenzie (Main Character) New Zealand Pakeha

Thomasin lives on the South Coast in Wellington. She has a dog and 3 siblings. She has just played young Jean Batten in the TV film Jean. Last year she played Pixie in Shortland Street. The year before she played Louise in Consent. She is passionate about piano and music and acting. She is really excited about working with The Candle Wasters’ in Bright Summer Night as she was a big fan of Nothing Much to Do and Lovely Little Losers.

Neenah Dekkers-Reihana is a Wellington based actor, writer, and director. She enjoys acting, writing, directing, and eating. She is currently working on clocking crash bandicoot 2 and King Lear. Also she won the Wellington Theatre Awards Most Promising Female Newcomer in 2014. KABOOM.

Hypable has the first look at the cast of 'Bright Summer Night,' from the creators of 'Nothing Much To Do' and 'Lovely Little Losers'. A re-interpretation of Shakespeare's classic.

Good Times was engaged by the NZ Post Primary Teachers' Association to develop and produce a series of videos to support their negotiations with the Government on their Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement throughout 2015.  

The task was to communicate to parents the value of teachers. A series of videos were developed that put the views of students up front.  Filmed doco style in a variety of high schools across the Wellington region, we heard the real views of students. We asked the students the questions: What do teachers do all day? And: What makes a great teacher?  Their candid and off-the-cuff views were insightful and often inspiring. We also asked the students to solve a problem, comparing data from three graphs showing student achievement, cost of living and teachers' pay.

A further video was created, building an auto-tuned song out of the interview responses. The song was composed by Tane Upjohn-Beatson and featured a generous cameo from comedian Guy Williams.

Results:  The videos played on NZPPTA's various social channels and as paid pre-roll videos on Stuff.co.nz and NZHerald.co.nz, where they generated CTR of 2.4%, well exceeding industry norms. The campaign shifted attitudes in the public about the value of teachers, picked up by both sides of the negotiating team. Teachers did not have to take any industrial strike action and the new collective agreement was successfully ratified by the end of October.
