I'm honoured for the opportunity even though I have barely drawn that much fanart I'm still like how did I get here LOL but here we are I did the thing it was a time /o/
There's also a bunch of wips for each card so settle in, this is a long one
Alter Ego Etho Shade-e-e's Common Card
There's a good amount of composition overlap with the rare since when in doubt, just recycle your poses (think smarter, not harder)
The final was flipped because of the type circle that would overlap and having that touch the top of etho's head wouldn't look as good.
It's pretty important to situate the comp around the graphic design cuz otherwise it will end up looking awkward later in print.

I liked the bottom left one because it's just funny LOL
and also the perspective of the building took a while to get right, and it looks so nice in the sketch form D:<
Ultimately, rule of cool wins over funny I suppose XD
It does indeed say "FREE GLASS" at the top, that was a last minute edit because I felt it was appropriate and also the top was empty and I hadn't figured out what to put there yet XD
Gives it a fun magazine type vibe, which matches the business advertising storyline of the building itself
I did a BW test at the end to make sure the colours were readable since there was a lot going on, and I wanted to make sure there was a clear separation between FG and BG
I've also seen a lot of comments of people thinking he's dropping glass shards and I guess it does look like that XD It do just be square glass panes in perspective to me
There were a lot of iterations for this to really nail the feeling that conveyed fisherman grian the best. I had a lot of fun iterating these because it was a good way to practice composition variety but also I feel like because I made so many, it made it harder for Grian to choose LOL
I still really like the top right comp, it's so cozy uwu
but ultimately while it's a good comp (and I nailed the perspective), the bottom right was better
There's a jump between the thumbnail and second pass cuz I was given a list of easter eggs to try and fit into the piece as best I could. Ultimately in the final not a lot of them made it through, but they are there.
The hat shadow figure in the final comp is implied to be Scar.
Alter Ego False Grand Architect Card
I'd just about finished the first four cards and was asked if I was able to do a 5th, so I had the extra fortune of working with false for this one :D
Interesting how a slight lighting change alters the perception of the work ey
There was a good amount of back and forth to try and make the composition more in line with the lore of the character.
