HMM…THAT DID SOUND rather delicious actually. He was most curious as to what that vegetable stew would look like. Alas, that was something that he would never come to know. Continuing to nibble on the gold leaves and berries he had been given, though his gaze was on Nerrin, his mind was drifting back to the other’s home. A rather fascinating place judging by how they described it. One that sounded so wholly fantastical compared to what he knew. Of course, Nerrin probably thought this world was an odd one too when he thought about it, so that was certainly a feeling held in common. After maneuvering the other into his office, he gently closed the door behind him with a faint click and gestured for one of the couches in the room before making his way behind his desk to promptly take a seat. No work would be done for as long as he looked after the little phoenix; however, the world wouldn’t end simply because Neuvillette took a day for himself. The next court case was not to be seen to until next week, thus, he had plenty of time.
❝If there are fascinating things like these leaves,❞ he held up what was left, ❝and all that you told me, I believe I would look forward to it.❞ It was just a silly little thought. It wasn’t as if Neuvillette would ever see it, after all. Giving the other a small nod, he allowed the prince to finally spread his wings. The plethora of different shades of warm colors made for a rather beautiful display, such making the Iudex wonder what a fully grown phoenix’s feather would look like as well. Did they change as they aged? Were they even more breathtaking to behold? So many questions, yet no answers to follow. His lips curled into another small smile for that afternoon, Nerrin’s excitement almost infectious even to a dragon as old as himself. ❝I do wonder where you get all this energy from. I suppose that just comes with age.❞
♚ The prince did a loop in the air, careful not to hit the walls or ceiling. " My father said that I get my energy from him! " Nerrin chirped happily. Indeed this place was just as fantastical to him, his normal was much more magical. A whole new, much more grounded environment, to him, seemed fantastical. "There are so many things you've never seen before, because I don't see them here! I'd be happy to show you around when my father gets back and I explain to him that you don't need to go to umm.. where ever godfather puts people who break the laws!" There would be smoothing out that needed to be done. Quite a bit. And the sooner they found the young prince the better because no doubt his father was tearing the skies apart looking for him as they spoke.
Pausing mid air, hovering in front of Neuvillette, he offered a hand out. "Do you know how to fly? I spoke without thinking earlier--" If he didn't know how to fly, the child knew a spell he could try out. But he still wanted to fly with him, and if it was his first time that'd be really neat! Even if it was just hovering in the office. It was such a big office too! "I want you to smile because I bet you have a really nice smile, Neuvi! So trust me, okay? There's no big gusts of wind in here and nobody can see you! You're not scared of heights right?"
Pretty sure ive put this up here before.

Awake at midnight, letting the shadows fall where they please…
hi guys
Some children need defending against.
Gaara knew better than to lend voice to this thought. Should Deidara make it to Sunagakure, he could see for himself the cemetery dotted with civilian headstones, children and adults alike, clumped in groups which matched the cycles of the moon. Beneath the earth their graves were empty. By the time Sabaku no Gaara had finished with them there had been no discernibly solid substances left to bury.
He slipped the food and water back into the folds of his tunic. There was nothing in his script which accounted for being invited into the home of a former Akatsuki member. To accept was to sanction his own demise by any number of means - poison, and unseen trap - yet to decline was to insult a man with a hairtrigger temper, and instill in him little faith that Gaara, too, could be trusted.
"Thank you," he said at last with something of a nod. "Show the way."
❃ No doubt he was following him because he didn't want to seem rude, and it would be rude. The bombs were outside, not inside his home. Deidara nodded and began to lead the other to his cabin and through the door. It wasn't like he was going to attack him anyway.
The inside was cozy, a couch, two low tables against each wall, a fire place as well for the winter time. A kitchen connected to that room, a small hallway leading to his bedroom and a room with all his clay and work desk where he could sculpt and sketch new designs.
" You know, the bombs.. are outside not in here, hm." Maybe if the words were spoken out loud it would make things easier.

Hidden Garden by Phillip Guyton
Blindsided by the dragons, Anne had been rooted in spot. She had read about them before, these fire breathing lizards and had wondered, very briefly as a child, about whether or not she would have lived to see any. They were long thought extinct, and if there were that many crawling and soring through the skies, how on earth she had managed to not see one until now. Anne had chalked the rumours down to the paranoia of elders and adventurers alike, who often told large tales in an attempt to chase others away from their undiscovered treasures.
And just like that, Anne was dragged into the yawning mouth of a cave by something- not something. She would know the smell of that rot anywhere and more often than not, it came with danger. With a yelp, she cowered from the flames that blustered past them, and the breton had narrowly missed losing her hair, eyebrows and life to it. It did not take long for the dragon in question to lose its interest, to which Anne turned her own towards her saviour. Her eyes glows like lanterns in the pitch blackness, and she fought off the urge to scramble away from her.
It was hard going, but she managed it. "I thought people were joking about the dragons," she said, breathlessly. Her tongue felt heavy and stupid in her mouth, as though she were only just learning how to speak all over again. "I've nothing to give you as thanks, but if we are headed in the same direction, I'd be inclined to offer you a mead in the nearest tavern."
۩ Understandably, most people didn't take the rumors of dragons until they were under one of those flying creatures. Terrifying scourges of the sky breathing anything from fire, ice and she had even seen some use a form of necromancy- though rare at best. The color variants were different, the more time went by the more she noticed that as well. Attention drawn from the dragon to the breton then.
" You and most others, " For what reason did a high elf vampire have to rescue this one, it had been rather impulsive on her part, " The dragon is being pursued by the dragon born so we need not interfere..." The flames licking the outside of the cave until drawing away toward the oncoming nord warrior, who was shouting back at the beast.
Admiring that for a moment, Viraryn shook her head. "No offense of course, I don't drink mead..." A vampire. And while she could very well drink mead and eat the bland meals served at the taverns, she preferred the sweet taste of blood. There was a time she would have accepted the offer but that was so long ago now. " I will accompany you, however, to get away as the skies it seems at this time are.. unfavorable."
They would have to wait for the dragon to be drawn away futher or until it was slain to move from their hiding.
"My name is Viraryn, master vampire of castle Volkihar- but fear not I am not hunting. "
The boy gave a vigorous nod. Indeed, the smell of tempura never failed to make his day a little brighter – although it was nothing compared to the taste of it. Tempura had the power to magically erase Inosuke's every concern, at least for the duration of dinner time.
Reality always caught up sooner or later.
Inosuke flinched almost imperceptibly as the fox-man reached for his broach. He immediately realized that once again, the man meant no harm, but his panic had lasted just long enough for images to assault his brain. A broach lying in a pool of blood, clenched in a grip forever locked in place by rigor mortis...
His shoulders sunk a little deeper in the blanket, as he gave a little nod at the man's offer. He followed him into the hallway, curious eyes exploring every nook and cranny of their surroundings.
"Do people not get worried because you don't look like them?" Inosuke questioned, bright green eyes now locked on the fox-man's features. "I think it's really cool, but... not everyone likes it when people are different."
❀ " Well you see," Kuwako began, " They think this is a costume, so, no! We can keep that secret right? Between you and me?" It wasn't like he thought they'd actually care by now if it was real or not, he had the town wrapped around his fingers, perfectly in place where he wanted them.
Eventually reaching the table where he would sit down and motion for him to sit as well. The flinch hadn't gone unnoticed but he wouldn't address it- that would come across as aggressive and he didn't want to scare him away. " My ears are soft as my tail, you know? I was like you once.."
An orphan it seemed, alone.
But this child wasn't filled with malice- lucky him. There was a lot to learn about his guest here. Moko returned, she had two servings of tempura and two cups of warm tea with her, placing them on the table in front of her and then leaving again.
"Isn't she kind? She got us so much food.." His ears twitched. If he had to eat with the child he would, to keep up appearances. "Here you go first, you are probably much more hungry than I am."
