Stephen Wilkes was commissioned to capture photographs of Hurricane Sandy. Soon after his project was complete, he felt a need to return back to those same areas and, for himself, document the aftermath.
And so, on Nov 4th, he rented a helicopter and flew over some of the most hard-struck areas, including the New Jersey shore where he shot these stunning images of The Star Jet roller coaster at Casino Pier amusement park.
“I’ve often found that there is great power in telling difficult stories in a beautiful way. I wanted to try and comprehend the scale of this storm. The only way for me to capture Sandy’s destructive fury was from above.”

November 26, 1922: Archaeologists Enter King Tutankhamun’s Tomb
On this day in 1922, British archaeologists Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon entered King Tutankhamun’s tomb. They were the first humans to enter the tomb in more than 3,000 years. King Tutankhamun’s sealed burial chambers were found intact and included a gold coffin containing the mummy of the teenage king.
The excavation process of the four-room tomb took several years and uncovered an incredible collection of thousands of objects, which shed light on the culture and history of ancient Egypt.
Explore King Tut’s magnificent tomb with Secrets of Pharaohs’ interactive tour.

Did anyone notice...
Obama mentions his wife in his victory speech: “…The woman who agreed to marry me 20 years ago”
Romney mentions his wife in his concession speech: “… The woman I chose to marry”
It’s amazing how someone’s views on equality can come out in one simple sentence
Literally the one thing I noticed as I was half listening doing homework smh
Dahlia, Crimson, Vermilion and Cardinal is the color palette for Vera Wang’s Spring 2013 collection, and it is breathtaking! Always presenting the bridal world with something exciting and new, Vera Wang changes the look of the traditional “wedding gown”. We loved her dark, dramatic, yet eerily romantic black wedding gowns of her Fall 2012 collection, but the vibrant, rich reds in this collection has made me at a loss of words to describe how gorgeous….I will just let the dresses speak for themselves. They will do a much better job.
