Self Care Tips
Make time every day for some “me time” or make a dedicated day or two each week for this time.
Have a shower every day!
Brush and floss your teeth 2-3 times a day.
Use a soft bristle toothbrush: hard bristle toothbrushes can damage your gums and teeth.
Exfoliate 1-2 times a week if it suits your skin type.
Wash face and moisturise 1-2 times a day if it suits your skin type.
Do not wash your face in a hot shower: it will dry your skin out and will damage it.
Do something you enjoy and relax.
Get outdoors and get some fresh air.
Regularly exercise!
Eat a well-balanced diet.
Drink plenty of water!
Maintain healthy friendships.
Make some plans to look forward to.
Try meditation.
Get plenty of sleep.

Even though I feel a little lazy I managed to pull through and completed all the exercise questions from my lecture slides, and I only have 1 more chapter of flashcards to do! I feel like I spent the worse half of this semester just crying over chemistry :’) Also my PHI lecturer is the sweetest and just emailed me that I can retake my online test lol.

week eleven, semester two: a moodboard this week consisted of stressing out about tests (i got 86% on one!), marathoning queer eye, and drinking matcha frappes✨

04.25.18 - I’ve been spending about 4-6 hours a day afterschool studying for ap exams and in the process have been getting no more than 4.5 hours of sleep per night and I’m so tired 😣

Hello again everyone! I hope that you’re all doing well and apologies for the lack of posts recently… but here’s a day overview from today since it has actually been a relatively productive day in some aspects…! ☺️✨📝

Study breaks are way more important than we think - I mean, seriously.
For me, they can be expressed by browsing Tumblr and @studymasterposts , @studyquill , @emmastudies or @diaryofastemstudent ‘s blog or just relaxing. But why do we need study breaks?
Whenever you are wasting too much effort and time on a specific subject, your mind and your body will be pretty exhausted. The next day, you’ll be like “Nah, don’t want to study, I’ll be tired and unmotivated anyways” and guess what?
You’re right. No, honestly, you’re completely right - but if you don’t change anything about your circumstances, it won’t be better the next time!
First of all, (and this one goes for like all of your life lol) it’s sooo sooo sooooooo important to stay hydrated - trust me, I’m one of those girls who doesn’t drink enough and yeah, it’s pretty shit… Migraines, headaches and feeling tired are the results and it will make you feel less motivated to study than at the beginning. I know, that the phrase “Stay hydrated” is all over Tumblr, even the musicblrs post “Stay hydrated” like whaaaat - you get it.
Guys, simply drink water!
My tip: Put a water bottle on your desk before you start studying - this way, you have always some kind of visual reminder that you should stay hydrated!
Okay, so now, that you are hydrated, it depends on your time of break what follows next. As it’s important to be focused while studying and not falling asleep on your notes, you should recover for a while.
Depending on your break it can be beneficial to take a break - but please, do not go for a nap if you have less than 10 minutes of time! Most people go for a nap that takes between 10 and 30 minutes, any longer and you’ll be feeling tired and your performance and focus will be reduced.
My tip: I use to drink a cup of coffee before I take a nap, the coffee needs around 20 minutes to be effective - this way I wake up refreshed and happy.
Is it just me or does dressing nicely really improve our focus?
I really like to put on some “good” clothes, even though sweatpants are way comfier. Just put on a nice sweater instead of your pyjamas and you’ll feel more focused and serious about your tasks. Another nice thing to do (if you’re that kind of person); paint your nails and do your make-up. For the boys… the same goes for you (maybe not the nails but do whatever floats your boat).
My tip: If you find it hard to follow the steps above or you don’t have enough time to dress up, I recommend just brushing your teeth and make a messy bun.
For those of you, who didn't follow the step of getting dressed nicely and are smelling like cheese because of your old nighties, you should definitely think about taking a shower.
Neither your dog - the good boi - nor your mom wants to smell this mixture of pizza, sweat and whatever you might have inside your room. So, do yourself a favor and take a nice, refreshing shower! You’ll feel awake and focused afterwards.
My tip: I personally really like to take “mixed showers”; this means not completely hot, neither totally cold. If you change the temperature while showering, your body will feel refreshed and the blood circulation will improve.
I really enjoy cooking or creating some nice snacks during my breaks! There’s nothing better than an iced banana or some healthy veggie chips (lowkey hipster) :D
So, just take a look at recipes on the internet or go take a walk to the nearest store!
My tip: I love the iced banana option because it’s pretty healthy and still tastes delicious like ice cream!
I hope I was able to help you out and show you my favorite things to do during my breaks :) Tag me in your posts if you want me to see your break ideas (#nadjastudies or #takealooksid)!
More break ideas coming soon!
