Homage to Joseph Beuys, (Ongoing from 1969), Susan Hiller.
2. "I suppose psychoanalysis as more poetic than scientific, and in fact I don't even see a dichotomy between science and poetry. So I don't see any reason why I would have to establish my credentials as an ex-anthropologist or archaeologist in order to even talk about this. However, my notion of art practice is an encompassing one. And my remarks around all of this are to situate the collection I've made within a discourse in which we could allow narratives of an archaeological nature to occur." (pg. 4-5)
This was a really interesting statement to make about both science and poetry, and I believe the rest of the quotation is pertinent to provide a better context as to what Ms. Hiller is saying. To see psychoanalysis as poetic as opposed to scientific is something I have never really thought of before, but now with one line I am reminded that not everything is confined to a box - or at least doesn't have to be. When pairing what she has said in the quote above with the image, you can see where she likes to be outside the box with her art installations and using collections that are still ongoing. You can see a story being told through simple bottles and titles and dates, and I think that it's quite clever.
Maybe it doesn't have much to do with psychoanalysis, but it allows a narrative that I can clearly follow, especially when I am able to find close-ups of said art collection.
I do have a question though in regard to how she thinks about these things; she can see science being more poetic, but can you say that poetry is more scientific in some ways in return? I would love to try to look through that perspective as well.

And Starbucks' Paradise Drink but I don't get that very often because of the expense - but it's a nice treat every month or so!
