-Kasumi- Smoking Memory 2.0 by SeanDonaldson
lets rob a bank @daisuke
He detested the way she looked at him. It was understanding that she wouldn’t like the answer ‘no’ but he felt that she didn’t have a right to give him that look, she should respect the fact that he said no.
But he became a challenge… She was worse than Hiwatari-kun.
Daisuke eyed her. She didn’t know. So everyone thought Dark was an alias, no one knew that he was a legitimate being that his family harbored through their bloodline. He smirked for a moment “Like I could get caught. No. It means I finished my duties, which means I don’t have the wings anymore… I don’t have to steal ever again, so I wont” he’d protect his families secret at all cost
He was keeping something from her, and not even trying to hide it. Keeping secrets was something she could understand, of course- it was a way of life for her, it was how she survived.
Truly, though, the mysterious answers he was giving had piqued her curiosity, as well as that tiny smirk that graced his face. This was a rather bad move for him- for now she was curious, she was invested, and she wasn't going to stop until she'd found out this conundrum.
"... Alright. Have it your way." her response was oddly serious, for her tone was, up until that point, casual and joking. The next words she spoke were back to normal, but her face kept it's neutral expression. "But, I can't just take you out of class for nothing, can I? Awfully suspicious. Say, I do need some equipment moved from one of the storage rooms. Help a lady out, won't you?"
@loki
Loki was surprised by the sudden dramatics. Kasumi never seemed like the type to react such away… Unless she was playing around, that would explain everything.
She didn’t know how to respond to it, it was hard to understand what was so tragic about being human but then again, humans are tragic creatures. The question was appreciated, but only because it moved the conversation along. Pondering over the question.
The little woman put her hands up by hear head. Imitating cat ears and going as far as to twitch them a bit “I think I’d be a nekomimi? Is that the right word? A cat hybrid… I’d be a cat hybrid” Realizing how silly she must have looked, Loki slowly put her hands back down onto her lap.
"So uh…. What would you be? Or, are you already something supernatural?"
She bit back the urge to laugh at the childlike movements presented by the other teacher: she kind of looked like she was from one of those silly anime videos. Kind of embarrassing, really.
Kasumi crossed her arms, allowing for a pause in conversation as she thought over her answer. She'd already known what to say, of course, but the name of the specific creature had slipped her mind.
"There's- there's this one kind of creature, I've forgotten their name. Kind of like, kind of like, tricksters? That are all shadowy and stuff. And they've got kickass magical powers. Some kind of darker-and-edgier fairy?" she shrugged. She could just use her greybox to find the answer, but she was in a rather lazy mood.
"And, nah, I'm just a plain ol' human. Like I said, kind of disappointing."

Prank #2: Operation "Woogabooga" @io
[he’s happy for the Halloween event. everyone seems to be having fun, and even with his moods as unstable as they are, it’s cheering him up.]
[he hasn’t gotten pranked yet, though. he was actually wondering if anyone would. with light footsteps sounding behind him and a sense of a presence at his back, though, it seems it’s his turn. he’s excited.]
[muffling a giggle as he turns around. that sense of someone behind him and that sense of heat at his back, plus that amazingly ridiculous sound, means that his C-PTSD isn’t making him lash out with his over-firing nerves, and he finds the attention flattering.]
[therefore, his voice bubbles with giggles when he addresses you, teasingly.] Ah, that costume is silly. Do you need anything, Ghost-sa……
[had been glancing you over.]
[feet.]
[you have no feet.]
[there is absolutely nothing underneath that sheet and between that sheet and the floor.]
[there is a very slight pause, and then a piercing scream rings through the building.]
Yes, yes- a perfect reaction on the first try! It was incredible how scripted this seemed, from his casual greeting at first, then quickly realizing that he was, in fact, speaking to a levitating bedsheet. The look on his face was so perfect, in fact, that she was beginning to wish she'd brought a camera. Perhaps she could've used the footage for blackmail purposes later.
Giving her best menacing "hoo hoo hoo" type laugh, she raised her arms higher, giving them a little wiggle. Kasumi then began to take a few, slow steps forwards, making sure that her footsteps were silent, so that her victim wouldn't catch on.
"WoooooooOOOoo... WOOOOoooOOOOOOO!!!" it should be becoming clear to him, now, that he was about to be chased. She was planning to run him all through the dorm- she couldn't have people missing her comedy gold.
@loki
Loki was a little surprised by Kasumi’s little laud. She seemed to be enthusiastically interested in the supernatural, that was understandable though. The whole group of supernatural and magical group was fascinating.
Shaking her head a bit sadly, Loki was nothing special, just a human. As far as she knew “I’m sorry to say that I’m just your less than average human.” Chuckling lightly to hide her little bit of gloom “I’m too short to be considered average, so I guess that’s something?” She hoped that would appease the other woman, if even just a bit.
Kasumi allowed her face to drop into a dramatic pout, before making a small sniffling noise and raising a hand to her face, as if to wipe away a tear.
"Such tragedy. It's so despairing, in fact, that I have been moved to a single tear." she bemoaned, giving one last fake wipe at her face before returning to regular conversation. "Okay, but, serious question here- if you were a supernatural creature- any creature- what would you be?"
She posed the question jokingly, although it was by far the most serious thing posed in the room so far. Hypothetical species changes were always of the upmost important. Besides, stuff like that says a lot about someone.
The Observers (Closed)
Though Laurent assumed at first the apple had been taken by the pond spirit, apparently the teacher in front of him CERTAINLY didn’t believe in that sort of thing. Her stating as such beforehand had not been a casual thing, as she’ gone as far as to take the apple he’d placed for the pond spirit. "While I can certainly give another one later, is it really wise to go about potentially angering a spirit by stealing food meant for them? It doesn’t sound a sensible course of action. While nothing may come of it, true - there is the possibility the pond spirit may get rather offended. As far as I know, angering spirits is never a wise action."
Laurent himself seemed more than a little apprehensive. He himself wasn’t offended, but the horrified expression quite clear on his face that he was truly worried the pond spirit MAY be offended by this.
10/10, this kid was one of the worst buzzkills she'd ever seen. Probably the kind of guy who never went to parties- or the guy who goes, doesn't drink, and calls the cops when shit starts getting good. Or makes sure everyone is politically correct. Or something.
She regarded his expression with amusement, then shrugged and took another bite of the apple. Briefly, she pondered if throwing the core into the pond would placate the student- nah, actually. He'd probably tell her that was rude or something.
"Wow, calm down. I'll bring her, like, a cheesecake or something." she replied, tone of voice mildly incredulous. "It's just an apple. She might not even like apples. What if she's allergic to them- did you think of that? Wow, inconsiderate."

His eyes widened. All of his life he thought his family wasn’t known to other thieves, let alone anyone that wasn’t directly related to them. How was he supposed to start anew if his family’s past was going to follow him everywhere. Honestly he didn’t even know what to say to that.
He was just couldn’t believe that his family was so known.
Shifting his gaze from the floor to the teacher before him, looking less than amused with the proposition “I’m sorry, but not only do I not have Dark anymore, I gave up that life style.. I couldn’t stand stealing to begin with” the thought of the lack of his alter-ego was a bit of a bummer, but a no was a no.
Wait, what was he talking about? She knew that the Niwa Family liked to use the alias of "Dark the Phantom Thief", but the way he phrased his words just seemed strange. He didn't have Dark anymore- clearly, he had quit with illegal activities, but the way he spoke, he sounded... Sad?
Kasumi's eyes narrowed, face now set with an expression of annoyance. Yes, she could go through with her plan alone (she had come up with a one man version, just in case. One can never be too prepared.), but it would be more of a challenge.
Luckily, she liked a challenge.
"You 'don't have Dark anymore'? What's that supposed to mean?" her voice still held it's usual casual, joking tone, but it was clear she wasn't very amused. "Someone steal your alias or something? Get caught?"
aannd, without further ado....
for this halloween, kasumi's going as a fantasy thief!!!
considering kasumi is a really neglected character (at least compared to the other companions of mass effect) art of her is really hard to find!!! the only other halloween-y art of her i could find had her shoehorned into the corner, so...
i ended up going with her dragon effect gear!!! she would be a great dragon age character, hah. will pay someone to write me that au
@loki
When she mentioned how much better she could do Loki gave an innocent smirk “Why not do it then? propose the idea to the Head Mistress, you’ll probably get paid better too” lacing her fingers together in front of her on the table.
Flinching ever so slightly as Kasumi raised her voice “Right, actually I didn’t even think about that… obviously…” cue sigh at her lack of thought process. A small smile as she rests her chin back in her hand “What do I know though? I’m just the Culinary teacher” a huff of amusement on her part, then chuckling lightly. There’s no possibility of this little lady being cool.
Now that the conspiracy theories had been sufficiently debunked, Kasumi leaned back in her chair, once again adopting a more casual posture.
She mulled over the idea of actually proposing her services for updating the system- it wasn't a new idea to her, of course, but as they were on the topic, it came back to the front of her mind. It was a nice idea, in concept; but Kasumi didn't really feel like doing the extra work, and it's not like she needed the cash.
" 'Just the culinary teacher' ? Bah- this is a school for the supernatural, for the unnaturally skilled! C'mon, you've gotta be, like, a vampire or something. A werewolf? A fairy?" Just a culinary teacher. One of the reasons she'd came to this school was to poke around the magical crowd- the fact that Loki didn't seem to be one of them was kind of a disappointment.
Prank #3: Operation Cliche Creepypasta @loki
For her third act, Kasumi made the decision that it would be best performed on someone she knew. Yes, it was time to move beyond the realm of strangers and obscurity- and boy, was she excited.
Not to say that the choice was difficult, really. Considering her loner habits, there weren't many people around whom she knew, let alone by name. She only had to think on the matter before her target was locked: Loki, the culinary teacher that she'd met a couple of weeks ago.
It had only taken another moment to look up the woman's class schedule-to make sure she was picking a class in the evening- another to grab her supplies and shove them in a bag, and several more to pick her dorm room's lock. Kasumi spent the next half-hour planting the bugs she'd need for her stunt, and then another fifteen hacking into and messing with Loki's computer.
She packed up the remainder of her tools quickly after she was done, with the measured precision of someone who had done this thousands of times before. Slinging the now significantly lighter bag over her shoulder, she stalked down the hallway and set herself up in a storage locker. The light of her laptop illuminated the tiny room around her with a haunting glow. She then opened her fellow teacher's computer remotely, watching through the webcam as she waited for her victim to come home.
Bingo. As per usual, Kasumi's timing was perfect- after only three minutes in the closet, the door of Loki's room swung open and the raven haired woman appeared. She waited until Loki had put down her things and was relaxing on her bed to strike- with the click of a button, all of the lights in the room went out. After a moment of suspense, she turned on Loki's computer, filling the room with the white light of a blank screen and a simple, low buzzing noise.
Let the fun begin.
