This Academy was highly diverse. And thank goodness for that, otherwise, she’d be at a heavy loss with that stupid language barrier.

She wondered why or how she even ended up in a place if she didn’t even know the native tongue. That was a huge mistake on her behalf; Now she’d have to go learn a whole new language, enough to at least get around with some ease.

His question struck her as odd.. but she had already talked to a few others earlier and she grasped the gist is where she was. “I was told we’re in Kerria Academy and my name is… Loki?”

There was obvious uncertainty in her voice “Or, at least that’s what I’ve been called up until now… I’m guessing that you know me as well.” the raven furrowed her brows a little, feeling guilty for not remembering who this man was “Who might you be?”

Though Madam Loki indeed knew the academy's name and her own - the fact she had to be told it only added to his concern: and the uncertainty in her voice. ...Then, it was confirmed. She did not know who he was - and could only guess that he knew her. It felt like Laurent's heart literally was thrown against a wall - first his real parents died, and then the teacher who he considered a parental figure forgot him. This was the cruellest of jokes - and he could only imagine how confusing and frightening it must be for Madam Loki herself.

Well, that settled that - he wasn't going to just ignore a situation like this. Though Robin and Morgan had never recovered their memories...he would at least try to help Loki how he could.

"My...name is Laurent - I am a student here, who thinks rather highly of you. It is most concerning to hear of your state - do you need to sit down? I can offer you some herbal teas if you need them...please, if I can help...l-let me know.."

After everything was all said and done, getting to see this view was the most relaxing thin she’d done since she’d woken up. The view was incredible and the gentle breeze was soothing. She wondered how it was like in the summer

The small woman never realized that someone had joined her on the roof, not until he spoke up and she turned around to look at him.

Again, she didn’t understand a thing he said. The language barrier was frustrating. But he had the same shocked and worried expression the other boy had. Did this young man know her as well?

… How much wasn’t she remembering?

In english, she spoke “I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you’re saying.” hoping he’d at least under stand her to an extent.

She figured he was asking the same thing the blue haired boy asked, fortunately for her, she had already been cleaned up a bit. Ankle wrapped and her crutch was on the roof floor in front of her. Maybe she should have kept the band aids on… She would have if they weren’t so uncomfortable.

And she should have changed, but there was a distinct need to come here. So she came. No questions asked.

Laurent's expression crinkled all the more in concern - doing very little but making him look even more 'older serious person who LOOKS younger', but he couldn't help that - why had Madam Loki not registered his appearance until he spoke up? Normally, she'd turn around and say hello in her usual friendly way, or ask him what he was doing up here - something seemed terribly wrong about this. There was a strong sense of unease with his worry on seeing a crutch hear the teacher and her ankle in bandages he didn't like at all.

Not to mention, this behavior....seemed oddly familiar. She didn't understand him right now? ...But that was...impossible, normally she understood him perfectly. ...Robin (the tactician of Chrom's army) and Morgan (Robin's daughter) had both claimed to not understand people at first, too. And the thing they had in common was...no. It couldn't be something like Robin and Morgan had suffered, could it?

Closing his eyes in thought, Laurent attempted speaking in Japanese - he was glad he'd picked it up to talk to his non-english speaking friends better now.

"...Can you understand me now? Also, I do hate to be a pest, but...can you tell me where we are, and your own name?"

If she suffered the same thing as Robin and Morgan had...this question would confirm it.

She’s found her way to the roof. Not sure why she was compelled to come here but she feels oddly comfortable.

After proceeding to hand out a few warm drinks to fellow students, the long-robed mage slowly decided to make his way to the roof of the school - goodness, he hadn't expected things to be such a rush when it came to handing the hot chocolate out. It seemed there were a fair amount of students who had liked that particular drink, now there were only two cups of it left. It would be nice to simply sit close to the skies he felt closest to as a wind mage, and enjoy the last drinks for himself.

Though seeing the familiar visage of one of his teachers sitting there cut short that thought. Oh! He should give madam Loki a warm drink as well.

"Excuse me....I do so hate to be a bother, but would you like some of this warm drin..." Only, on seeing the state of the teacher, he froze, face crinkling up in distinct concern.

"A-are you quite alright? You look quite a state...do you need some assistance, any at all?"

Of course he'd be very concerned on seeing Madam Loki in such a state, considering events of the past.

Time's Passing

Laurent had been most busy the last few months - the sheer amount of trying to find new herbs for madam Loki's sake and school work - helping others - it had meant he had very little time for himself, or to actually sit down and talk with his friends like he used to. ...He had to admit, that made him sad. With the holidays coming up, should he not try to...not push himself as hard, and try to spend time relaxing with his companions?

Yes, indeed. Though they may be a little surprised to see him slowing down after so much business. So, the mage stepped out of the cafeteria, a large lunch tray of hot chocolate drinks in his hands. "Excuse me...fellow students? Teachers? Is there anyone who would wish to stop a while and have a nice comforting drink in such weather?"

It would be nice to try and help someone else not rush as much, too.

Her mind hit a wall. Every word he spoke. He was right and wrong and she wanted to cry. She’d been making her students worry over something that she couldn’t control. Loki teared up. bit her lip and tried her best to keep her composure “I-I”m sorry Laurent. I’m so sorry to make any of you worry.” holding her arms and her cup close to herself, as if guarding herself. She didn’t feel attacked, but she felt vulnerable. To be confronted so suddenly, she didn’t know how to go about this correctly.

However, she wasn’t going to lie to him. She could never do that. “I’m trying though. I do rest and relax after work, you and anyone else don’t have to worry about that” she couldn’t tell him that she already collapsed, even if it’s been a few weeks, it would only worry him more and she didn’t want that.

With her free hand Loki wiped her eyes, covered her mouth with the back of her hand and sniffled “I’ll try harder….. Just… please don’t worry about me” making eye contact as she uttered her plea. Helplessly spilling more tears, she was far too drained to keep face in front of him.

She began to consider wearing make up now; it’d be easier to hide her exhaustion if she wore some foundation.

"You don’t have to worry about my work, it may be more than most would expect but it’s not overwhelming" wiped her eyes again, sniffling and recomposing herself as much as she could.

If Laurent had been expecting anything of Loki's reaction - it had most certainly not been this, and his gaze doubled in concern at her tears. "Madam Loki - please do not cry. This is not a personal attack - or at least I sincerely hope it does not sound like one. However, you are a respected and well-liked teacher. It is only natural we would worry, even if nothing was wrong. Just like how I myself have been told I worry too much about my companions." He shuffled and ruffled a hand inside the pockets of his robes, pulling out a handkerchief and holding it out to the other.

"Are you certain you have been getting adequate rest, Madam Loki? I hate to sound overbearing once again, however - I recall the time I over-tired myself by using too much magic. You took me to my room, do you recall? Yet I do not remember you yourself going to sleep during that, and it was quite late by the time I drifted off. If you need some sort of supplement to aid you in getting to sleep easier, I could concoct one of my mother's medical potions for you!"

He would like very much to be of aid to Madam Loki, considering he felt close to her as a teacher figure. It was like she was a figure of support and wisdom where his mother could not be. "Try...harder? No. Please, do not push yourself harder than you already are. There's no shame in accepting aid from friends. I myself, have learned this. Allow us to aid you, if you need it to take rests. There's nothing wrong with that."

His tone was soft, supportive, and he cleaned in to try and dab away some tears if allowed (and if the handkerchief was still in his hand) off her face.

Her face paled and her heart began to beat a little hard. There was something wrong, Laurent wouldn’t be here to get her if something wasn’t wrong. She nodded quickly “Yes, of course. I’m free right now, what’s the matter??”

Loki hoped, with every fiber of her being, that no one was hurt. That the most he was concerned with, was just some students skipping class or drinking, something that was easy to write up, or that wasn’t that big of a deal. At the very most, she hoped that he would just express his concern for another student’s health. If someone was hurt…. she didn’t want to have a repeat of her situation with Axel; Where she had to become a temporary ‘combat’ medic. That was mildly traumatizing for the poor woman.

"Ah, wonderful. I am exceedingly relieved that I am not cutting short your personal time. You see, Madam Loki - the matter I would wish to speak to you about is regarding you. Over the coming days and Fridays, I have noted that you help others so much: but you never rest or relax one ounce."

A pause, as he adjusted his glasses so they wouldn't fall on such a serious moment.

"Granted, it's not fair that I complain about this and waste your time. You'll probably say that you do not wish to rest, that you do not need it, as always. However....I cannot help but be concerned. Those tired eyes, you look as if you may collapse any moment! I should recognize that look well enough. I...you and I are alike in that retrospect. I used to push myself with helping others so much that I did not care how much I over-exhausted myself: I did not view my health and well-being as important as that of my friends."

A serious tone, there.

" Then one day...I collapsed in the middle of work. All my companions were most frantic regarding the matter, and it took a whole day of them looking out for me that I could recover. I felt incredibly guilty and awful to trouble them. So I realized. Helping others is a wonderful thing - but please, take time to have rest yourself. If not for your sake, but for the sake of the students. No doubt I cannot be the first student to notice your tired state and worry about you. Please, Madam Loki....you needn't shoulder your work alone. If I am allowed to, allow me to be of assistance."

The mage gave a sweeping, respectful bow at this point. Well, all his words had a very strong logical point, but he was uncertain if the teacher would listen. He could only hope so.

Days seemed to start blurring together worse than usual, simple things to remember were seemingly impossible now. If it wasn’t for her clocks and her phone, Loki wouldn’t know even know what time it was.

It was times like now, when her exhaustion began to take over, that coffee became her best friend. As soon as the small teacher reached the lounge, she realized that she forgot her mug back in her classroom. Dropping her head forward and groaning, Loki spun around and trudged back to her classroom.

Wasting no time to return to the lounge, she was slighlty surprised to see a certain familiar hat “Laurent??” Peaking around him to look at his face “Is everything okay? Do you need someone out of the teachers lounge?”

Her worst fear was that he, or someone else was in trouble or hurt, or something bad happened. Furrowing her brows with worry.

Madam Loki seemed a little...dazed, disorientated, almost, when she spied him standing there and headed over to him. The dark tell-tale circles under her eyes mirrored the ones Laurent knew and recognized all too well - he used to have circles like that under his own eyes. "Yes...I do need someone out of the teacher's lounge. You, Madam Loki - if I'm not interrupting anything important. You see...I have noticed a few concerning things of late, and I should very much like to talk to you about them."

He didn't yet say the concerning things were about her - she tended to not allow help, but if he put it like this, she'd be more amicable to agree.

Sarah Smiles Like Sarah Doesn't Care | laurent & cynthia

Holy hell was she on fire today. She felt as if she could bring down the sky if she so wished for it! That’s pretty amazing, for being a fish out of water and only being here for a couple of days.

So there Cynthia was, sipping on an iced tea she had gotten near the recreational areas. The Games Room it was called, right? None the less, the sweet flavour of orange really helped with keeping her spirits high. She was on top of the world, and nothing could stop her. So she continued observing her surroundings, eventually maybe finding someone she could talk to.

Wait, isn’t that—? Yep, it was. Cynthia could recognize that pointy wizard’s hat anywhere. Also those robes, but she saw the hat first. That was the most important. She really should talk to him, what with the fact that she also noticed that they have the same dorm pin on their outfits. And so she scurried to the individual, leaving her iced tea behind, as if it had been neglected. Until…

*THUNK!*

Oh gods, of course THAT had to happen. Cynthia, who had inherited her mother’s clumsiness, tripped on her own feet. And landed headfirst on the ground. But in the spirits of the beaming pigtailed hero-to-be, she just got up and continued, tapping on the wizard-y individual’s shoulder in order to get his attention.

"Lau~rent!" Please ignore the bruise on her forehead. "I haven’t seen you in a while. How are you?"

Ever since that note Io-san had sent him after All Hallows Eve, Laurent had found himself nervous. No, wait. Nervous was putting it lightly, more along the lines of 'increasingly nervous' was more appropriate. Hah - did everyone find themselves at such an utter loss when faced with the prospect of talking to one they secretly cared a great deal for? Sometimes, it may seem like such feelings were the most illogical thing, making a calm person such as himself so jittery.

However, perhaps it was not his secret feelings and crush that were nerving him so. Rather, the prospect of eventually telling the recipient about it was what made him nervous. He did not wish to force anything on his ally, let alone ruin their close ties of friendship. Yet, the fact he was not being forced to hurry was a small relief.

He could speak of it to her when he wished, there was no need to rush into anything, yes. Now, what should he do...? he had a little bit of time before his next class, but was uncertain of what would be the best way to spend it. However, a firm tap on his shoulder gave him reason to pause mid-step, he turning.

...Of all the luck, he had to actually run INTO that very person who was the source of the crush. Though, the fact she was injured overshadowed his own awkwardness, a wave of concern hitting him full-force. "C-cynthia! How am I? You should be more concerned about yourself - you look like you took a rather nasty fall! Are you faring well? You do not feel dizzy or overly inujred in any way?"

Well, Laurent being concerned would be nothing new. Though, if he was more adamant here, it was likely because he cared for the recipient more.

Are cards a type of 'magic' in your realm? (closed)

Today had ended up being a much busier day than expected: first, the talk with Madam Loki at the first half of lunch break. Then, he'd practiced some spells and proceeded to meet a mythical being thought to be dead in his realm, what were the odds of that? However, Laurent had not allowed it to take up too much of his time: after hearing some curious things in the All Hallow's Eve 'game', there was some people he wanted to talk to. Mainly regarding a new sort of 'magic' regarding cards: apparently, a few folk of the school knew about it, too.

If this sort of magic could assist him in being of more help to his fellow class-mates and discovering new, amazing things in science - it was certainly worth checking out. The problem was, he had no idea which students would know the most about magic of cards. Would he simply be annoying them by asking? Still, science could not afford one to be uneasy as he was being. It didn't hurt to at least ask. So, upon spying a blue-haired young fellow, the mage decided to clear his throat.

"Excuse me. I do apologize if I am hindering anything of special import. However, there is something I would wish to ask of you, if you have the time. I have heard rumors of...some kinds of cards being magic to some students of this school. As a mage who wishes to find new uses for magic to assist others, I would very much like to observe such magic I know nothing of, or learn what I can.

I apologize, again, if you know little of the subject, but anything you do know would be helpful."

Hopefully, the poor student didn't get confused by what he was asking.

Of magic and myths (closed)

With All Hallows Eve having come and gone - Laurent found that as usual, with the time of spirits having left, the temporarily power rise he felt around the time had gone yet again. Hm. Well, that was fair enough: the spirits of the holiday couldn't cross the border to the 'living' world easily all the time. However, with said holiday gone, it had reminded Laurent he had a wish to be able to use more complex spells without getting tired for longer, and so he had retreated to the soccer field. There was no game on today, he should know - he was the umpire for the club.

With the field free, this provided ample space and a lack of people to potentially endanger themselves by straying near in order to practise his spells. Opening the tome in his hands, Laurent shouted. "Wind!" A soft, weak wind blew through the area, clouds drifting by and being able to be controlled and formed at will with that weaker spell. "Elwind!" Elwind - being a stronger wind element spell - caused a more powerful blue glowing wind to move across the field. Just as the mage was crouching and gearing up to practise a much more potent spell, he spied someone nearby, and so halted any words he had to say next.

"Ah. I didn't assume anyone else would be out here - please try not to stray too close. I'm practicing my magic, and I would hate for you to be caught in the cross-fir..." A pause, then, in his rambles. The mage had caught sight of the long, sharp horn protruding from the other's head. "...Hm? You hold a horn on your face like ancient horses of legend where I hail from...are you one of those beings of legend, by chance?"

The thought of talking to an actual mythical being thought to be extinct in his realm made him quite curious.

Seeing as how Madam Loki always made certain to look out for and assist fellow students, this had not gone unnoticed by a certain wizard-hatted mage. He'd also noticed that - much like himself - Madam Loki didn't seem to like it when others 'bothered' themselves with returning the favour or tried to help her. He couldn't say he wasn't equally as stubborn in that retrospect, but if his new friends in the school insisted it was okay for him to accept help: then madam Loki should not fear asking for help if need be, either.

With this thought process in mind, Laurent had on this lunch break headed towards the teacher's lounge. Was he allowed in there? He didn't wish to barge in and intterupt something, but he would like to return some of the kindness madam Loki had shown him.

So, he knocked on the door thrice.

"Madam Loki? Are you there...?"

He could only hope that he wasn't just talking to thin air here.

After last night - Laurent finds himself calmer upon waking up. It's not a lot, but to him it's a big difference: he's so used to shouldering those burdens alone and fearing they may hurt his friends that hearing his musing of the past made folk sad made him retreat, and try and face it alone as usual.

Thankfully, he now knows that...friendship is a bit of a two-way road. They do not wish for him to take those burdens alone, just as he does not wish they struggle with their burdens alone. So knowing they won't be burdened by his past is a relief. Five years alone did make him unaccustomed to knowing what to do with people, but they helped him learn better. Also, he just realized, Kouha still has his spare cape. He's wearing his second cape today, but he'll ask for the other one back now Kouha is hopefully warmer.

...Hm? A note slid under his door distracts him from that idea, and he picks it up.

Wait, what? What? . . . . .

This - it's a bit early for April Fool's Day, isn't it? Though, as he re-reads the letter, eyes widening in that utter shock and disbelief, the words are completely serious. ...Io-san is serious. A particular ally of his that complicates simple 'logic' for him immensely is here. IN THE SAME DORM as him, no less. ...Fate just isn't going to make things easy on him, is it?

Oh, bother and blast it all. The mage promptly decides to flop face-down on his bed and make mumbled noises into his pillow to calm down.

...It doesn't really help at all.

10/10, this kid was one of the worst buzzkills she’d ever seen. Probably the kind of guy who never went to parties- or the guy who goes, doesn’t drink, and calls the cops when shit starts getting good. Or makes sure everyone is politically correct. Or something.

She regarded his expression with amusement, then shrugged and took another bite of the apple. Briefly, she pondered if throwing the core into the pond would placate the student- nah, actually. He’d probably tell her that was rude or something.

"Wow, calm down. I’ll bring her, like, a cheesecake or something." she replied, tone of voice mildly incredulous. "It’s just an apple. She might not even like apples. What if she’s allergic to them- did you think of that? Wow, inconsiderate.”
