Canonically, Lena has moved in with Violet’s family. It started as Violet keeping her for observation and she just moved in. This was originally mentioned in “Nightmare on Killmotor Hill” but had to be cut for time unfortunately. That’s how Violet knows Lena hasn’t been sleeping.

Ducktales having a gag where a 10 year old’s dream includes a blob with an ambiguous voice that sounds both masculine and feminine is amazing, no matter how brief it was
It shows that Dewey’s concept of romantic attraction isn’t developed yet or is just beginning to develop and the lack of defined gender implies a non heteronormative viewpoint on attraction
It’s a dream, if it was appealing towards concepts he feels he SHOULD be interested in (like his popular kid jock fantasy suggests), the Romantic Interest would likely have been more clearly female (and probably more in line with popular kid fantasy stuff aka Pretty Popular Girl). Or, at least, I feel that most other cartoons I know of would’ve taken that route!
Dewey saying he’s threatened by the concept of romance combined with the ambiguous blob could be read as he’s a kid and he has no concept of romantic attraction, but he feels it WOULD fit in with his pop jock fantasy, but again, the ambiguity of gender makes me doubt that. It feels much more personal.
Fear of attraction + not appealing to heteronormative standards despite the show having a perfect opportunity to appeal to heteronormativity? It definitely feels more like Dewey’s questioning what/who he’s attracted to, or eventually will have to face that question, moreso than the casual ‘oh I’m a kid lmao romance ew’ attitude he normally has towards these things!!!
(Sorry if this is incoherent or too long, I’m just writing out all my thoughts all at once because this one lil scene touched me deeply)
