HarGou Drabble - Say Something: Epilogue

She looked down at the bundle in her arms, a smile gracing her lips as she looked at the baby boy with black hair and red eyes. Turning her face to the tombstone on front of her, she lightly touched it and cleared her throat.

"Hello, Haruka," she smiled, wincing at the tug the baby gave her hair that flowing down her shoulders." This is Gou, or as I like other people to call me, Kou. And this," she brought the baby down and pointed to him." This is our son. His name is Kano.”

"Why did I name him Kano? Well, I know you would like it. Because guess what?" Gou chuckles lightly, tickling her son’s stomach." Kano means "water". Well, it means "Water God, but I’m sure you would accept it either way."

"Since you’ve passed away, everyone has been there for me. Onii-chan was quite angry when he found out you and I had to part ways. He also refused to come see me when I had Kano, and I don’t know, but now he loves him just as much as you used to love water."

She then forms an ‘o’ with her mouth.” Makoto has decided to help me out with Kano since it’s me by myself. Sometimes he stays over my house when I’m at work and watches Kano for me. You… You don’t mind when he spends the night at my house, do you?”

Gou chuckled to herself, knowing she wouldn’t get an answer since she was talking to a stone.” And Kano likes Makoto very much. When he was crying with me, I gave him to Makoto and he instantly quieted down. I would like Makoto to be a father figure for him. That is, if you don’t- Well, I know you wouldn’t mind because Makoto is a good friend of yours.”

"I know you, nor him, would think I notice, but I think Makoto has a crush on me," she laughs." I can’t love anyone right now because I’m still trying to let go of you and our past, but  you should know that I forgave you a long time ago."

"I still don’t like the fact that you left me because you were sick, and did not tell anyone until you had a month left to live, and didn’t tell me until you were on your death bed, which was my fourth month of pregnancy. Still, I love you, and even though he doesn’t know you, Kano also loves you."

Gou looks down at Kano, smiling.” Can you say hi to daddy?”

Kano lets out a small sneeze before Gou laughs and picks herself up off the ground. She smiles at the tombstone one last time, saying,” Goodbye, Haruka.”

Headcanons about SouGou please

Yeah, yeah. Cracks knuckles. Let’s go. 

I think Sousuke has always liked Gou more than she realized. And not in a “he’s always had a crush on her” way. I think that she always worried she was Rin’s Annoying Little Sister, but Sousuke has always considered her a close friend. Sousuke really appreciated having a friend without a Rivalry aspect to it.

Gou finds Sousuke very calming. He’s incredibly patient and doesn’t overreact. Seeing how calmly he took Rin leaving Sano Elementary and then leaving for Australia helped her accept it a bit better. (“Distance isn’t something I should worry about.”) 

We’re never shown Gou being made aware of Sousuke’s injury, but I think she knew. Sousuke told her, though he downplayed how serious the injury actually was, and swore her to secrecy. He wants to be friends with her again, so he goes to her for advice even though she won’t tell him anything he doesn’t already know. (“You know a lot about muscles, right? My shoulder has been bothering me lately. It’d be a bother to go to the doctor.”)

I’m really all about these two as an aromantic couple. I don’t necessarily think they realize they’re two aromantic people. I think they just have the same struggles with romantic relationships and they realize that they love each other somehow even if they can’t put it into words that other people understand, but both of them understand it perfectly. 

After high school, Gou and Sousuke will show up at each other’s places unannounced. Sometimes they won’t even talk to each other. They just show up with take out, or a movie, or a bookbag full of homework and make themselves at home. 

Gou hides his sweaters so he conveniently forgets them at her place and she can lounge around in them instead. Sousuke gets them back by pilfering her laundry.

(Gou doesn’t like that he goes through her laundry so casually; not because it’s an invasion of her privacy, but because Sousuke literally has no reaction to her underwear. She realizes she’s irritated he apparently doesn’t find her sexually appealing in any way.)

(Sousuke definitely has a reaction when he finds her underwear during his pilfering.)

(He has thought of taking them to mess with her.)

(When he finds a pair that got stuck in a pocket, he is very embarrassed and feels very dirty and it wasn’t even on purpose. Gou catches him trying to return them and is very irritated. They look cuter on.)

Summary:

After Rin left to Australia without looking back, Sousuke’s old teammates called and gave him a new hope. Maybe he should have never left them.
