          “I have to say I’m definitely feeling offended right now. Boring Brennan—” the werewolf scoffed playfully, shaking his head, “Is that all you think of me? I certainly have far more redeeming qualities, you just refuse to give them a chance.” Teasing further, the other didn’t hesitate to follow behind Grace as they made their way to the car and out of the cold. “Yeah, yeah, you can get all the cake you can fit into that smug face of yours, Grace.” He grinned as they reached the car.

       “Offended and yet you know as well as I do that it’s not far from the truth --- come on, tell me when was the last time you did something as spontaneous as that, back in the dark ages? Or perhaps it was the eighties, I can definitely see you rocking up to a disco or three.” Grace returned in jest, a light chuckle surpassing her lips as she reached the car, rounding it to open the passenger door as she went. “You say that almost like it’s a challenge, you do realize I have the appetite of a horse right, demolishing cake is my specialty B.”

“They took issue with a werewolf who was caught out alone, I merely pointed out that there were other wolves out. Apparently they needed a demonstration to believe me that it was a good idea to leave.”

        “What kind of demonstration are we talking about here --- what did you do to them?”

“Oh God, does anyone know whose dog this is? It just wandered in my work and it doesn’t have a collar.” Heath replied unsure what to do with the animal. He liked pets but he felt terrible if this belonged to someone and they were looking for it.

       “Well between you and me, I don’t think she’s God’s dog so you can rule that one out..”

       “That was once advanced? I don’t envy the people of that era in the slightest, in fact I’d probably even take my chances with scurvy over enduring that.”

   “—okay, seriously, what the hell is in this?” the male questioned as he tried not to choke on the drink. “It tastes fucking disgusting. What, are you trying to poison me?” 

      “What --- not a fan of lemonade, raw eggs and blue cheese?” Grace couldn’t help but laugh to herself. “Oh come on Mason, you know I had to pay you back for the last prank you pulled. And now I can finally say mission accomplished.”

                 “You’re allowed — shouldn’t have brought up the tail issue. We are supposed to be enemies though, so you probably reacted correctly. You’re right, but dramatics can’t be helped when you’re in the middle of a heist. We need a signal!” 

       “It’s fine ---- you’re not the first and you won’t be the last. Never was one to follow the status quo, who said we can’t make our own rules, right? We do, but you do realize the options are endless right... this could be dangerous.”

     “Define disagreement --- because that really rather looks like a lot more than just that.”

“I’m sorry if I can’t accept that, Gracie.” He raked a hand through his hair, not knowing what else to say, frustrated that once again, the little bit of good in his life was taken and twisted. “You’re his best friend too– it’s why…why he didn’t.” Why he didn’t shoot her, the thought of which made Matt sick before he took Grace’s hand in his own, “I’m gonna fix this.”

      “Well you’re going to have to Mattie because he’s gone --- left town, again.”
