âIâm fine. I just need people to⊠stop,â Evan muttered, body tense as his eyes narrowed, jaw flexing slightly.Â
âI understand,â she said gently, feeling calmer and giving him a small smile, âpeople can be real shitty sometimes.â

Ry: Do you wanna do something weird
Ry: Like eat sushi off one another?
Grace: You can buy me food but I won't eat it off you
âPokemon Go?â Sage asked tilting her head âwhats that?â
âYouâve never heard of Pokemon Go? I thought that was impossible,â she said, opening the app and showing the blonde, âyou literally just travel around catching Pokemon. I think the point of the game is so that it feels like youâre catching them in real life.â
âI havenât seen another person besides my roommate in daysâ Sage huffed letting her blonde locks fall in front of her eyes. Pushing them back she looked at the person next to her âhow have you been though? Are things good? Anything crazy happen?â she asked letting a smile tug at her lips.
âThe craziest thing thatâs happened has been that Iâve finally hit level 15 in Pokemon Go.â
âI need you to back the fuck up right now, turn around, and fuck off,â Evan muttered, hands shaking slightly as his chest heaved. âBecause I donât know how much longer I can function around people before I do something Iâll regret in the morning.â
âDo you... need something? Help?â Grace asked quietly, too afraid to move forward and get closer to ask.
âThe nameâs Henry Rawlins, itâs a pleasure⊠And you areâŠ?âÂ
âGrace Montgomery, and itâs definitely been something.â
âItâs a girl. Who may possibly never have a name unless my indesciveness goes away.â
âNaming her is one of the best partâs! Itâs so exciting.â
âIâm pretty sure everyone here can hear ya, love. And I really would be minding my business, but thatâd be easier if youâre little story wasnât so interesting..â
âAre you one of those creeps that gets off on listening in on peopleâs conversations?â
â26 weeks. So thereâs still a while to go.â
âDo you know the gender yet?â
âWell, we donât have to talk about this. What would you like to talk about?âÂ
âI was always told not to talk to strangers.â
âSheâs finally here. All the way from New York,â Henry paused, looking away and flicking his head back for the dramatic effect. âDo you like her?âÂ
âItâs nice, I guess. Iâm not exactly the kind of person to talk to about this.â
âWhat are you waiting for? It feels absolutely wonderful, the weatherâs just rightâand I donât see any other excuses. Get in!âÂ
âUm, no. Thanks.â
âSeriously my back is killing me right now..â
âHow far along are you?â
âLook, I havenât slept in two days and I would appreciate it, A LOT, if youâd please just stop talking. For at least a minute, alright. Please.â
âWell I wasnât actually talking to you, so maybe your problem is that you should just mind your own business.â
remember to breathe;; grace
Candice didnât know if we was imagining it, but everything about her seemed in slow motion. Grace blinked and she saw the way her eyelashes fluttered. She move her arm and she saw the moonlight reflected against her skin. She saw her mouth move and a part of her brain shut off, just watching the curve of her nose and the way her brown eyes sparkled even in this crappy lighting. A part of her registered that she had spoken, and had said her name, and Candice shook herself out of her slow motion world as much as she could. âOh, yes, yeah Iâm Candice. Honestly Iâm surprised you remember. Itâs Grace, right?â Sheâs beauty, sheâs grace, sheâll take your breath away- not that she needed a way to remember her name, but she had one. And it was very, very fitting. âCup of water, cominâ right up.â Candice bit her lower lip, considering what the girl in front of her would want right now, at 10 pm at a dinner all alone. âEither waffles or the pie. Waffles because sometimes even this late you need a pick-me-up, and pie because the pie here almost rivals my own recipe. Almost.â She silently praised herself for talking to her so casually, for playing the part of a normal waitress so well. âWhat brings you around here at this time of night, anyway?â
Grace raised an eyebrow at the other girl when she continued to stare instead of answering her question, but the grin never left her face. It was endearing if anything, and while Grace would usually find it mildly unsettling instead it was just sort of calming. She chuckled lightly when Candice finally blurted out an answer, âIâm pretty good with matching names to faces, stuff like that. You have a pretty memorable face anyway, very sweet,â she said, allowing herself to be overly kind in her tipsy state but still refusing to admit that what she was doing was flirting. She nodded slowly as she listened to the options the blonde girl gave her, giggling when she mentioned her apparently famous pie recipe. âUm, in that case Iâll try the waffles then, I definitely need a pick-me-up. Next time I expect a piece of your pie ready and waiting,â she teased. When Candice asked what Grace was doing, she bit her lip, shrugging in what she hoped was a casual manner, âJust... getting away for a bit, thatâs all.â
remember to breathe;; grace
Candice had been working at the dinner for only a week, but already she was the perfect employee. She always showed up on time, never complained about the late hours, and there was never a hair out of place on her uniform, which was an atrocity to uniforms everywhere even if she did manage to look cute as a button in it. It wasnât as if Candice needed the job, but her family appreciated hard workers, and she needed something to do after all the hustle and bustle of the city went to sleep for the night and she was still awake, counting sheep in a big house all on her lonesome. The point was that she needed a job and not she had one and everything was going okay. That is, until the most beautiful girl she ever saw walked into her dinner, floating into the room like a dream or an angel or something in between. Candice felt herself blush furiously just by looking at her, clutching onto her silver tray as she watched her take a seat at a booth and casually stare out the window, unaware of the affect she had on her fluttering heart. She pushed herself to move forward, anxiously putting her hair behind her ear as she moved closer to the girl. âEveninâ, um, miss. What can I get for ya?â
Grace had had a hard day. It felt as if lately, Grace was having a lot of hard days. She was becoming less and less like the Grace she used to be, and more bitchy. Which she didnât mean to be, it just sort of happened. So instead of lashing out at her brother which would spiral into lashing out at the rest of her house mates, for absolutely nothing, she sat in her room and got a little drunk, just enough that her mind was too sluggish to really focus on much, and she went for a walk on her own, stopping by the cute little diner for some drunk food. A gentle voice pulled her out of her reverie, and she looked over to see the adorable little blonde girl that tried to help her irritated eyes just a few days ago, âHey, you,â Grace said back, just as gently, âCandice right?â She liked Candice, she was kind and a little quirky. Grace didnât want to mess this friendship up before it even started, âNot quite sure what I want, honestly. Can I just get a water to drink? And a recommendation on your best comfort foods?â She said, shrugging casually. At least she tried to come off as cool and casual, but probably just looked really pathetic.
âthat makes you very smart, and less annoyingâ
âIâm glad Iâm very smart and less annoying than before in your eyes. Or something like that.â
