My name is Steve, the current owner of that one old but really fun Homestuck RP Site from back in the day! After like three years in the oven desperately trying to resuscitate MXRP, the wonderful HEX has finally managed to bring her back online! 

With this, the site is back online and, pending any catastrophic glitches or catastrophes, the site will be STAYING up.

Wait, who are you???? I’m just Steve! Chances are, if you’ve ever used parp and you’ve had Vriska selected, you’ve at least seen me in passing. Or if you were in the now-official discord server. OR if you used cherubplay, OR cherp, OR cherami. I’m kinda everywhere.

Who’s maintaining the website? That would be one of the original devs, the wonderful @0xeff! I approached them as I was finalizing the purchase and they were happy to help out! And may I say they’ve done a goddamn amazing job so far. They’re honestly kind of terrifying. You ask them if a feature can exist and it’s created, functioning, and deployed in an hour. I live in awe and fear.

Is all the info still there? chats, accounts, characters, etc?? Yes!!!!!!!! That was part of the package i received upon purchase, ideally, you guys will have lost nothing.

Can you explain in more detail how to archive chats from dreambubble into mxrp? for the life of me I cannot figure it out and every day I live in fear of losing all the logs I have saved

So we're working on a tool right now to make that easier, but a REALLY easy way would be for you and your partner to just Re-enter the replies one by one into parp from DB

I personally recommend, if you really want, a little bit of formatting trickery. Make a Groupchat, set it to private, and then copy the whole thing in huge chunks, formatting the different characters' replies appropriately with [color=][/color] tags!

You could ALSO do this reply-by-reply, and if the user sent order is important you could link up and do it in order, with each of you re-sending into your preferred chat in the order you initially sent with.

It's not elegant, but ideally once Hex has been un-banished from the vacation realm we'll have a more creaseless solution up and running (current plan is to just generate a chat with the log data in it using the same url generation algo that search uses)

Your June 2ND PARPDATE: All quiet on the parpstern front edition

So this one is going to be very, very brief. As of literally today we've put a short pause on the log importer so that Hex can deal with some stuff in her personal life (huge boon for the Dreambubbleheads out there)

It will still be completed, and shelved does not mean its cancelled. Hex just kinda needs a break! We'll get back to it when things calm down on her end.

All of our plans are still in place, and will be worked on in due time. I just kinda feel like she needs a break as someone who's privy to what's going on behind the scenes.

Piggybacking off the ask r.e. collapsible fandoms, could it be possible to have collapsible subfandoms? Well... mostly the MSPA one as it's quite big :') although I'm sure other fandoms with subcatergories would benefit from this too :)

It would make things a whole lot easier if I could click "All" for the Humans/ Post Scratch Trolls/ Pre Scratch Trolls/ Post Scratch Ancestors etc. than having to manually click as there are a lot of them! And would also save screenspace than having to always scroll through ALL characters such as Special/Other/ Lusii/ The Felt/ SB&HJ etc. that I'm not looking to RP at that time.

You mean like the Beta Trolls, Humans, etc categories? That could be arranged ye! There's also been some talk of splitting Hiveswap into it's own thing, I'm just hesitant to do so because of how the fandom editor in the admin menu works (I cant split it, i'd have to delete the whole thing and remake it from scratch as its own fandom, and then it would be at the bottom of the list)

there are so many characters to scroll through now! is there any way the list of fandoms can be collapsible when selecting a character?

The All Fandoms thing you see here is a filter for selection! Click it, it's a dropdown!

If you mean your search filters, just click the little arrows next to each fandom to collapse/expand!

I haven't seen if maybe someone's already mentioned this, but edits don't seem to stick? They disappear on a refresh/don't show up on the log. :(

yeah they don't show up on refresh either, it's a caching issue that's on the Fix List.

Hey Steve, I've been having an issue with chats where I connect, but it only displays that I'm the only connected user unless I look at the sidebar, so I don't get the usual notification that I've connected to a chat and only receive it when the other user disconnects. Am I making sense????

No you're making sense, this is a known one! It's just kinda intermittent and inconsistent (the worst kind of bug) so we don't know how to fix it.

for whatever reason, desktop notifs coming from messages that start with brackets are blank

so a message that says XX: [action] just says XX:

Oh INTERESTING. Maybe it's a formatting thing? I don't know how google push processes the text, maybe because it's square brackets it's refusing to process it because it's running it as an HTML formatter? And [These] are how you format text there in some cases?

No parpdate this month!

It's mostly just hex doing bugfix progress. Nothing really to report! Which is gonna make these monthly parpdates kinda weird tbh. We MAY end up cutting back on those to 'when we've got something'.

That said, the Dreambubble To MxRP Log Importer is almost in working order, stay tuned!

If the people want Hero Shooter or Gacha presets, how about just adding the initial launch roster, then have a preset labeled "Other Hero Shooter/Gacha Canon Character". It solves the infinite new characters issue.

Because then people would complain, honestly. And as someone who doesn't play hero shooters, I'd have to like.... get a poll going? Or something? Secondary information to see who I should add later.

I'm probably gonna do that once this new batch is fully out, though i am a little hesitant due to the infinitely-growing nature of hero shooter rosters. Falls JUST shy of why I won't add like, a gacha game.

Is the buckets still a thing? A friend and I tried connecting to each other via searching for 30 minutes with no luck. Just straight up nothing despite having only each other's characters selected. Is there anything to be done about that?

Buckets aren't a thing, might never have been.

Hex and I were actually kinda confused when we went trawling through again, and it looks like the actual problem is some arbitrary bullshit happening with the 'Search for users that are over 18' button not working right and kinda randomly sorting people regardless of age.

It's on the list to kill with hammers, because what the fuck why is it doing that. It's not even consistent about it.

ahoy hoy, starting from last night, parp has been eating around half my messages. they look like they're sending, but they take a second to leave the text box. and on reload, they disappear and the last character becomes >

What the fuck?

Add it to the buglist, you're not the first one we've had this from but USUALLY it resolves itself. Good to know though- try clearing your cookies just in case.
