Mini banana bacon bites and banana spiced buttercream bites for the vegetarians/bacon-abstaining folk. #beatcancer #bakeoff
Bake off ready! A four layer banana cake with spiced buttercream and candied bacon!
Final touch complete. #birdhousenightlight
Nursery finished but for one tiny finishing touch... to be continued...
Five years ago, I was 29 years old and barely prepared for my first half marathon. Youth, being several (read: 30) pounds lighter, and reckless stupidity got me through for a 2:46 finish. Today, after twelve gruelling weeks of training (mostly consistent), this five years older me just beat stupid, younger, lighter me by a whopping ten minutes. 2:36. #londonmarathon2016 - I'm coming (read: hobbling) for you.
Kit packed, proper gels bought and ready, tracker attached, carb load currently in the oven, and race number attached to the shirt I earned in the last half marathon I ran way back in 2010. I am more than a little excited to run this race I've trained twelve weeks for tomorrow! #ealinghalf #ealinghalfmarathon
This may not look like much, but I'm super proud to have built this book case out of scrap wardrobe doors. I even used a jigsaw for the ladybird[bug]s. These babies are gonna learn to love the written word as much as their Mama and I, and I sort of think this bookcase will be a big reason why;)
Like watching paint dry... #nurserygetsdoneTHISweekend #woodland #handmade #28weeksandcounting #beanandfiver
Day 2 of "this hair will not go anywhere but straight up so imma pretend like I did it on purpose because that's exactly the kind of cardigan-wearing bad ass I am."
Bean's receiving blanket all done! Now onto Fiver's!
Soon to be putting these in the mail for my friend's two littles...
Just finished for the niece! #hermamalikespinkaLOT
I've had long hair since I was seven years old. As a gay woman, my long hair always meant I could at least feel like I was passing if I needed to, or that I could be as fem as my girly-girl friends if I wanted to. Now, as a soon to be mother, I have finally figured out that femininity and masculinity have nothing to do with hair length or body parts or what you wear and everything to do with how you feel and I want my children to grow up understanding this. So I'm finally practicing what I preach - I wanted simple, I wanted easy, and I wanted something different to mark this new season. And I have never felt more like me.
In the past month or so, I've finished five hats. This, however, is the first one I've made for one of my own babies. Finished it in less than three hours, used cotton yarn and a combination of patterns and skills picked up from the other four hats. Really happy with this one, even if it's no-frills:)
BBQ take 2. #howtofeedapregnantwife
The Wife is 23 weeks tomorrow, and I recently made this tiny little onesie out of an old dress I had. The other, a pair of overalls, will be completed this weekend. Then all these babies will need is two pairs of sensible shoes ;) #twins #beanandfiver #whatelsecanimakeintoaonesie?
