âYeahâŠ.meâŠmerry fuckingâŠ.ChryslerâŠâ Clark slurred out as he raised his shot glass to the other closest to him. From the looks of him, he had seem better days. His smooth face now painted with his own blood as his lip was split open and a scratch shown about his left cheek. His eye was settling as the colors of black and blue hinted around his eye socket. As he downed the shot he felt the sting settle in his lip making him cringe. âFuck!â he hissed before tossing the glass onto the counter angrily.Â
âMy Gawd, well, Iâll be a monkeyâs uncle,â Gracie said, barely catching the glass he threw. âLawd, yâre drunk out yâr dârn mind, ainât yâ?â She shook her head, grabbing his chin and turning his face towards her. âLet me have a look atâchâya,â she said, tsking as she studied the cuts and bruises. âGet into a fight, there?â
ofbasils:
âYou might be able to find a few quarters on the streets,â their voice was quiet, lazy eyes watching as a new cat appeared in their game. Basil honestly thought this was good advice.Â
âI ainât stoopinâ so low as to search thâ dârn ground for quarters! Lawd, can yâimagine? Me, bent down there, searchinâ fâr dârn coins just âcause I onât have enough for a coke? Lawd. May God neâer curse me with that despâration.â She shook her head, hands on hips.
âit would be great if you could help me out here. i donât feel like being licked to deathâŠat least not this way.â davis whispered the last part, hoping that someone could take the dog off of him so he could get back to what he was doing.
âNow that was just flat-out dirty,â she said, tsking softly as she bent down to pick up the puppy. âHey there, liâl dollbaby,â she said to the dog, nuzzling its nose. âIs it yâr dog or--?â
ofbasils:
âThen get a coke,â they replied simply, eyes never leaving their phone. Basil was incredibly preoccupied with Neko Atsume ( the kittens needed them! ).
Gracie shrugged. âSee now, that thereâs the problâm. I ainât got a lick oâ money in order to get a coke.â She pouted, crossing her arms. âI maybe have a dollar âr two, but cokeâsâre prâtty expensive âround âere.â
rafrubio:
Rafael was QUITE easily amused; his mind often simplistic when he isnât treading the court or a ball isnât in his hand ( VOLLEYBALLS PARTICULARLY  heâs awful at every other sport ). So hearing her accent drenching each and every word, well, he was entertained ( yet again, NOT A HARD FEAT ). And she kept going and going  Rafael ALMOST didnât want to interrupt, but the setter was quite fond of the idea of his presence being known. âAh ! ! I havenât had one in a while either,â he tapped the hollows of his cheek, trying to recall the last time he had a carbonated drink of any sorts. Rafael tried to eat well: He needed to be in TOP shape for volleyball ( even if this meant his sister and mother bombarding him by calling him too âflacoâ ). âAh, now youâve put me in a mood ! ! â He laughed and flashed his signature RAFAEL smile, the kind that didnât quite reach his eyes.Â
Gracie looked at the young man who answered, her blue eyes sizing him up. He looked--Mexican? Cute, sure; sheâd go as far as to say handsome, but still. âSorry, darlinâ,â she said, smiling sweetly, âNow whereâre you from? Iâm from down âere in Georgia, but, well, quite frankly, you look like you just âbout pulled up in a ship someâere, so whereâs yâr famâly?â She smiled. âYâever been on down to Texâs? So warm down there, and the Mexicân food--Gawd.â She looked up at him, curiosity and naivety lacing her features, threading her eyes a particular color of oblivious, an almost wet-paint color; it seemed, in that moment, that the red, white, and blue button on her backpack gleamed brighter in the fluorescent light. Sure, Gracie didnât know any better, and in the moment, it seemed polite to ask about his heritage. He just looked so interesting, and sheâd love to know more about his culture.
âLawd,â Gracie starts, bundled in a big coat, earmuffs, and gloves, âI hate this here cold weather. Liâl ridiculous, ainât it? I âonât got an unfrozen bone in my body, I tell yâall.â She shivers, pouting, before continuing her speech. âAnd Iâm squeezinâ my quarters so tight I âan hear them eagles screaminâ--ainât got a pot to piss in, I tell you what.â Sometimes, Gracie likes to hear the sound of her own voice, if sheâs honest (and she is always honest). This habit combined with an almost crippling homesickness leaves her talking to herself--well, to be fair, there are a few people around, so she supposes she isnât talking to herself--and, well, sheâs in the mood for talking, so off she goes. âAnd Lawd,â she repeats, âI been rode hard and put away wet, thatâs for dârn sure. Listen, yâall, I ainât seen a twenty in what might be ages,â sheâs a sucker for a good hyperbole, âAnd yâall, I been drinkinâ the tap--could really go fâr a coke right about now.âÂ
â I know that it stinks being stuck on campus for the  next four days and maybe during the holidays due to the snow storm but i know a way we can still have fun if you want me to tell you how â Mia said as she try to cheer the other college student upÂ
âItâs just frustratinâ âcause I know my momma was lookinâ fârward to havinâ me see her renovated kitchân. And mâdaddy, well, heâs disappointed, too. Just frustratin,â is all.â Gracie sighed and rolled her eyes--this was the first year she couldnât be home for Christmas, and it was weird not seeing her family for the holidays. It made her annoyed and angry; why couldnât they just plow the snow? She hated freezing New York and all it had to offer, and at this point, sheâd prefer just to graduate in January and be done with the whole situation.Â
