HOW TO SUPPORT JOJO: A GUIDE
For outofcontextjojo. Apologies in advance if this is a little U.S.-centric. Please let me know if you have any resources for those living outside the States.
Amazon: Here. There’s a few books here that aren’t available in English, but be warned: Like anything imported from Japan, shit’s gonna be expensive. They also offer JoJo on the Kindle.
Barnes & Noble: Araki’s author hub page can be found here. Araki’s earlier work, Baoh, the standard versions of Stardust Crusaders, the spin-off Rohan At The Louvre, and the JOJONIUM editions of Parts 1 & 2. JOJONIUM is basically a reprint with a gorgeous new hardcover design (see here), a few pages in limited color, and some notes by Araki in the back– how he came up with the characters, how he feels about them 25 years later, etc. Nook version also available, if you prefer.
Streaming: Available on Crunchyroll. Sub only, but available in multiple languages, some of which aren’t available on the DVD. Entire series up to this point can be watched for free.
Season 1: Part 1: Phantom Blood, and Part 2: Battle Tendency. Skip Re-Edited unless you need a refresher.
Season 2: Part 3 is comprised of two parts: Stardust Crusaders and Stardust Crusaders: Battle In Egypt. This is the version of JoJo that a lot of people know best, but I wouldn’t skip directly to it. You’ll miss some of the significance and call-backs to the first two parts if you do.
Season 1 DVD: Available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. A few drawbacks– it’s not available until September 22nd, there’s no Blu-Ray, and subs are only in English and Spanish. I do believe it’s both sub and dub, though. Apparently Amazon Prime is also streaming the series (although I don’t have Prime, so I don’t know the exact details).
Amazon, as mentioned before. But as to be expected, you can also pick up two of the PS3/PS4 games at Gamestop:
All-Star Battle (an arcade-y brawler with lots of fanservice.)
J-Stars Victory Vs. (Jonathan and Joseph throw down with some of your other favorite Shonen Jump stars– including Son Goku, Uzumaki Naruto, Ichigo Kurosaki, Yusuke Urameshi, Kenshin Himura, and Monkey D. Luffy.)
