P E R S O N A L I T Y —

+ Disciplined, protective, loyal. - Brooding, jealous, distant. Talking to Graham can be a bit like talking to a brick wall. He's not one to make friends easily, mostly due to his complete lack of interest in trying to trust the population at large. He used to be more open, softer, but years of loss have left him gruff and reluctant. With patience and diligence, trust can be formed - AKA people can sneak past his barriers - and a soft center will be found, but best believe he will FIGHT IT the whole time.

A R R I V A L — ( 2017)

Graham and his Dad moved to Northern California after the loss, needing a drastic change to try and heal. Honey stayed in New York for awhile, and then Philly, and then Montana, and now is somewhere in Utah. About ten years ago, Graham needed a change of his own, and found his way down to Aurora Bay, where he's been ever since.

E X T R A B I T S —

- With so many people in the house, Graham got very good at cleaning - as did the rest of his sisters. His own home is always as pristine as an old house can be, even with such a busy schedule at the station. His garden is also well-tended, which he always attributes to hired help (even though he does not hire gardeners). - Drives a sleek little black car that he keeps cleaner than clean. There's absolutely no personality to it on the inside or out, but it's a nice car all the same. - Refuses to watch horror movies of any kind. In general not a movie or tv person at all, but if there has to be something on that isn't a baseball game, he's going to pick one of those lame ass Hallmark movies because they're reliably gooey.

F R E Q U E N T S T O P S —

Aquatica. Graham likes the quiet, peaceful nature of fish. They're calming to him. He'll stand and stare at the jellyfish tanks for far too long, appreciating the beauty and the complexity. He will also lie about going here as though it isn't a public place where anyone can find him. Aurora's Candy Parlor. Graham picks up a bag of specialty mixed gummies every Friday without fail. He has a major sweet tooth. Blue Lagoon Pool. Big lap swimmer. Big water enjoyer in general but he especially likes to use laps as a way to stay fit. Horizons Therapy Center. Yes, he goes every two weeks (if there isn't an emergency). No, he isn't making any progress. <3 Legacy Multi-Courts. Okaayyy pickleball legend! He tries to go regularly and often plays with the older dads of the community. Titanium Gym. Did I mention he works out? Graham needs to keep his fitness up so he can keep saving LIVES. And also keep avoiding anything that might remind him of bad memories<3 Chase away the pain with exercise<3 Tool Time Hardware. Graham's not here every week or anything but he has to come often enough to keep up on his gardening supplies.

Graham comes from a large family, both immediate and extended. He's the second youngest of a house-full of sisters; Honey, Willa, and Jamie are spread over seven years before his eventual arrival, and Teddy was a surprise addition three years after. With those kind of numbers it would be easy for Graham to feel othered, but neither him or his father ever felt out-voted. In fact, Graham never felt more at peace than when he was home with all of his sisters, quiet in the corner as the ladies of the family bickered and laughed. As the Cregger kids slowly aged out of their family home, most of them stayed local. Their family was too tight to move too far away, even if they'd gone away for college. Honey, Willa, and Jamie all found apartments, jobs, colleges, partners nearby their Upstate New York origin, making it a lot easier for Graham to swallow the emptier house. At sixteen, he still didn't know exactly where he wanted to go with his life beyond wanting to help the same way he'd already dedicated so much of his life to doing. At the suggestion of his mother, Graham toured the firehouse and eventually decided to start doing the junior training program. His sophomore year was also the year he met Jennie Witts - the most beautiful, smooth talking woman he'd ever met. A senior at their school with a not-exactly-short list of ex-boyfriends, Jennie took Graham under her wing and into her bed.

At first their romance was magical. They were everything a pair of high-school sweethearts should be and more; Graham was sure he'd never felt a love like this. That love lasted for all of four months before Jennie's true colors showed - her obsessive, possessive, aggressive colors. Another month and Graham was through with the constant fights and middle-of-the-night soothing he had to do just to talk her down; as gently as he could, he broke up with her. Two weeks later, Graham was enjoying a full house again. Willa and Jamie were both home from college, Honey was visiting with her boyfriend, and Teddy was, for once, not getting under Graham's skin. It was a perfect weekend in February: calm, full of food, full of mirth. Then, all at once, full of smoke.

Jennie hadn't meant to hurt anyone. She claimed she didn't know anyone was home, a story that didn't hold up with the cops due to all the lights in the house and the cars in the driveway. In the end, it didn't matter if she meant to or not. She set the fire that trapped Graham's family inside. She set the fire that killed Willa, Jamie, Teddy, and his mother. A cruel twist of fiery fate left the junior firefighter without half his family. Graham's been building the brick wall around his heart ever since.

"Don't think I've seen you on the courts before." While it isn't the most polite greeting he could've mustered, it isn't rude either. Curt, simple. Graham can't allow himself the pleasure of being grumpy when his usual pickleball partner has the flu; if he can't pick up a substitute, he'll have to go home after taking the time to go out in public in compression shorts, something that already makes him feel like a loser. Graham considers the woman before him, weighs the pros and cons of asking a stranger to play the equivalent of mini-golf for tennis. "Are you meeting someone?"

Tess had been in town for all of five seconds, but she figured no better time than the present to try and acquaint herself with the place that was going to be her home for the foreseeable future. "So what's good to do in this town? Please say it's not incredibly boring here."

“It is.” A beat. “Incredibly boring here.” To Graham, this is a feature to admire, not a hurdle to pass. He loves how little happens here outside of interpersonal drama, which he avoids by simply not interacting with anyone he doesn’t have to. Like right now, stuck in the world’s longest line at The Pantry while the poor employees try to get the registers working again. He holds his bag of oranges in front of his three cans of cinnamon rolls which he shamefully hides as best as he can. “This is the most interesting thing that’s happened all month.”
