"I'm glad you used a plural there. I was worried there'd only be one drinking hole around here." Tess told her, her shoulders relaxing as she smiled over at the woman, "Which one is your top spot?"
Her eyes peeked out from behind her Ray-bans. "Oh, you're so new." There was a friendly yet playful smirk that took over Nea's lips in that moment. "Depends on your definition of 'good' and 'boring'..." She trailed, awaiting for further insight before making her decision on where to bring the newbie.
"Is it that obvious? Or is the town's population like ten?" Teresa asked, the playful lilt to her voice at war with her nerves because what if it was that tiny and slow here? God, what did she get herself into.... "Boring I feel like would be suggesting the beach. Cuz like...it's right there. Duh. Or going to the movies. Because it's another duh."
"It's really gonna depend on if you're a goodie two-shoes or if you have a flexible moral compass. Where would you say you fall on that?" @thetessxacevedo
Tess snorted at the question but it was quickly followed up with a grin, "Flexible is definitely a good way to describe my moral compass. So hit me with whatcha got?"
Tess had been in town for all of five seconds, but she figured no better time than the present to try and acquaint herself with the place that was going to be her home for the foreseeable future. "So what's good to do in this town? Please say it's not incredibly boring here."

"Excuse me!" Madison calls out, to the person in front of her down the exit line. "You realise there were other cars, because it seemed like you kept purposely bumping me." Her widened smile was feigned, and an attempt to withhold her anger. "What the fuck?"
Tess immediately put an apologetic look on her face as she turned around to face the other woman, pulling to the side once out of the exit area, "If it helps at all, I was smacking into walls too?" She offered, even trying to smile. "I barely have a license and I'm a shit driver so...it was more just me running into whatever I could? It wasn't personal, I swear....even though the whole point of bumper cars is..yanno, to bump?"
"What do you think," Mack starts, removing the cap from his head and tilting his chin down to give a clearer look at the hair on his head, "Keep growing it or give into the voices that are telling me to do a bleach blond buzzcut for summer?"
Teresa had only been working at the coffee shop for a couple days, so she was trying to keep her overwhelmed feelings to a minimum. Just the same though, she found herself blinking at the odd question before she bit her lip, surveying his hair for a moment. "Honestly? The voices might be onto something. Besides, if it's trash you can always just buzz it off?"

"I tried to get my friend to go on that with me, but she chickened out," Zoe says, holding up two ride tickets as she motions to the giant drop tower. "What do you say? Feeling brave...?"
@aurorabaystarter
"Uhh..." Tess slurped from her vodka-spiked lemonade as she looked up at the ferris wheel, squinting in the bright sunlight. "I think your friend might be the smart one here. Don't these things just get collapsed in and carted off to the next fairground? Or is this like a permanent fixture in this town?"
Welcome to Aurora Bay, [TERESA 'TESS' ACEVEDO]! I couldn’t help but notice you look an awful lot like [INDE NAVARRETTE]. You must be the [TWENTY-THREE] year old [BARISTA AT DRIFTWOOD COFFEE / JOURNALISM STUDENT]. Word is you’re [STUDIOUS] but can also be a bit [PERFECTIONIST] and your favorite song is [CONEY ISLAND BY TAYLOR SWIFT]. I also heard you’ll be staying in [AURORA BAY TOWERS]. I’m sure you’ll love it!
Teresa was born under the impression that she was an only child, and as such, she was doted on. Born and raised in a suburb just outside of NYC, all of her likes and interests were always noted by her parents, her father especially. She was the apple of his eye and likewise, Tess was a total daddy's girl, always seeking his approval, his praise. And it was a rarity that she didn't get it.
Tess was top of her class since grade school, acing all her tests and beating out every competition she had. She was valedictorian in her grade school and high school, was head of the drama department, and had multiple articles and short stories written in her school's paper and even published online.
That's not to say she was totally perfect though. Tess was also friendly with the popular crowds and had, on more than one occasion, snuck out of her window to go attend parties or go on dates with boys her parents would never approve of. But what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them--besides, Teresa was practically perfect in their eyes, so why would they have any reason to doubt that their little girl was up in her room all night?
After graduating her high school (valedictorian, of course), Tess got accepted into Columbia, her dream school. Her dream was, is, to be a writer, so she dove headfirst into her classes, eager to do more, to learn while living on her own for the first time, choosing to dorm in the city. Teresa really flourished in college, happily spending her time dating and making friends and devouring all the books she could, oftentimes spending her days lounging in Central Park, her nose stuck in a book. Life, for the most part, was pretty perfect
It was in one of her classes six months ago though, that Tess' life tilted on its axis. The class did a genetics testing to trace back lineages, and while she'd been excited to learn about her ancestors, what she didn't think she'd find was that she had a half sister.
Confused, heartbroken, angry, Tess spent the next 48 hours completely inundating herself with trying to find out the most she could about her sister, Ramsey. She was older, a model, gorgeous, and had even lived in New York for years. She'd been right there... Teresa had always felt lonely as an only child, which was probably why she was always seeking out friends or relationships, trying her best to have someone else there. So the fact that she could have had someone there, that she had a sister out there that'd been kept from her was devastating. It was even more devastating when she'd confronted her father about her, her most favorite person in the world, and he had no excuse for it.
He was very much aware of Ramsey and Ramsey's apparent twin brother, Graham. So she had a brother too. Even her mother knew about Ramsey and Graham, and how her husband just...abandoned this whole other family. The ache was deep, to know she'd been kept in the dark and lied to for her entire life, to know she'd grown up surrounded by her father's love but it was a love he withheld from his other children. She felt guilty for it.
Teresa had a bit of tunnel vision then. She dropped out of Columbia before the end of her semester, packed up her entire life. She'd seen that Ramsey's last known location was Aurora Bay--which just so happened to be her father's hometown-- and decided to go there, needing to see her siblings for herself. She couldn't make up for the pain her father must have caused them, nor could she make up for lost time, but she wasn't going to let more time go by without finally getting to know them.
And she could only hope that they'd want to know her too.
