Maybe you’re wondering, why Slovenia? What are a bunch of American students doing visiting this tiny ex-Yugoslavian Alpine country? It may seem like a random stop along the way from Budapest to Vienna, but I actually planned this entire trip around one spot: Lake Bled. I saw a photo of this beautiful lake in a National Geographic article was enchanted. I spent a long time trying to figure out how to get here without spending crazy amounts of money, and found that the best was to do it was to make a longer trip out of it...to start in a bigger city and take a bus into Ljubljana, and from there take a bus to Lake Bled. So here I am, looking very very happy to have finally made it to the place I most wanted to visit. From Granada, it only took two buses, a plane, (a stop in Budapest), another bus, (a stop in Zagreb), and two more buses. Worth it.
