If you move this equation into complex numbers, it becomes infinitely easier. Unfortunately, physics is a real science, meaning the problem is getting back to the real numbers and not getting trapped in the complex void.

PEOPLE SAY you don’t realize what you’re taking for granted until it’s gone. aomine hates to admit it, but there’s some truth to those words. he lost a part of himself during teikou. maybe it would’ve been different if he was part of a different team, a different school. christ— maybe even in a different sport. when aomine listens to volleyball players share about their teams, it sounds so much— more wholesome. healthier. && they’re still part of powerhouse teams, many going to nationals. aomine begins to wonder when compromising mutual care became the standard for being best in basketball. at least, in teikou.
❝ yeah, young && stupid sounds about right. ❞ he doesn’t say out loud, ‘ && we were desperate. && maybe i wasn’t the only one who was self-destructive. ‘ perhaps it’s an irrational fear, or maybe not— but aomine worries about his former teammates. are they struggling ?? is anyone close to going off the rails ?? aomine respects akashi as an athlete, but they differ on an emotional level. akashi’s bluntly stated that aomine cares too much. ( like when aomine made an ultimatum that he won’t play first-string if kuroko’s demoted. ) ——–aomine almost trips over air as murasakibara lists positive traits. ❝ you sure you’re talking about the right guy ?? ❞ he grins wryly, then reaches out to tousle murasakibara’s hair. ❝ —-but thanks. really. ❞
aomine leans closer when murasakibara rests his head on aomine’s shoulder. he’s the worst at expressing he craves physical contact, but damn– once it’s given, aomine can’t get enough. ❝ as tough as yosen can be, i’m proud of you for working hard. ❞ he ruffles the violet locks again. ❝ touou is . . . ❞ aomine’s voice trails off. in the past, he might’ve just answered with an apathetic half-shrug. but a few things have happened since then– experiencing his first defeat. followed by watching repulsive players like hanamiya && haizaki. other than having zero tolerance for underhanded methods, maybe a reason aomine strongly dislikes those players is because he’s afraid of being like them. aomine never physically threatens anyone. but he’s been a verbal jackass towards his touou teammates. ❝ touou is more than i deserve. ❞
after paying for everything, they head outside, && start walking back towards the court. the plastic bag hangs from his fingers. ❝ i can tell how much those yosen guys care about you. ❞ he looks over with a smile. it’s real. && it’s even soft. ❝ i’m glad you’re with them. ❞
𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚈 𝙷𝙰𝙳 𝙱𝙴𝙴𝙽 𝚈𝙾𝚄𝙽𝙶 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝚂𝚃𝚄𝙿𝙸𝙳 and desperate for acceptance, and they paid for that longing with their innocence ━━━━━━ their mental and physical health, but Atsushi could see in Akashi’s eyes, in Kise’s smiles and Midorima’s posture that they were healing. That left him and Aomine, once again separated from the group ━━ where before they had evolved too quickly now, they seemed to fall behind. Atsushi couldn’t help but to sometimes wonder about how similar they were ; the generation of miracles’ powerhouses, the formless shooter and the perfect defense ━━━━━━ with them all games were a certain win, or had been back then. ❛ Of course I am sure, Mine-chin~ ❜ he whined again, ignoring how the simple gesture of Aomine ruffling his hair made him feel warm inside. Affection something Atsushi craved as much as his lungs longed for air.
Murasakibara groaned and nuzzled his face on Aomine’s shoulder ━━━━━━ a feeble attempt to hide his embarrassment at being praised from the other boy. ❛ I’m only doing it cause I have to~ ❜ he spoke, pout audible in his childlike voice. ❛ If I don’t work hard, Ara-chin will smack me with her bamboo sword and that hurts~ ❜ trully Araki was the only person at Yosen that could get Atsushi to work ; all she really had to do was reach for her sword and he would be up and running. The purple haired boy often wondered how the others felt in their new schools ━━━━━━ were they happy? or at least happier than they were at teiko? ❛ Hmm... ❜ Atsushi pondered, he was unsure if voicing his opinion would be appropriate, so he decided not to say that he doubted it was true. Aomine was much more than Touou deserved, at least from what little Atsushi could remember of their games. ❛ Must be nice though, at least you got to stay with Sa-chin~ ❜
It was not hard to see that Atsushi loved the miracles very much, and that love was extended to Momoi as well, he considered her to be a big sister of sorts and thus missed her very much. Deep down, Atsushi wished he got to go to school with one of the Miracles too, but his fate had been a cold and lonely one. The giant centre walk behind Aomine, long purple hair being blown by the wind as he scoffed. ❛ They don't really care about me, Mine-chin. ❜ Gone was the childishness in his voice, violet eyes darkening ━━━━━━ after the game against Seirin things had changed, his relationship with the team had changed ; from anyone looking at it, nothing was different, but Atsushi felt the tension, knew that they blamed him for losing. ❛ I can make them win, so they tolerate me. ❜ Atsushi shrugged in response to Aomine's gentle smile.
❛ I wish I weren't... ❜ Atsushi more often then not found himself wishing to go somewhere ━━━━ home, his mind supplied ━━━━ but that wasn't quite it, because he found himself wishing to go 'home' even when he was home. ❛ Who do you think will win the cups this year? ❜ he asked, changing the subject from himself to something both of them were used to talking about ; basketball.

“ it’s possible, ” he asserts with his trademark deadpan, pulling his lips together into a thin frown. tetsuya looks a bit silly hiding under the table, sitting with his knees to his chest and eyes directed up toward atsushi. “ the movies. kise - kun will be upset if i reject him so quickly. it’s easier to just let him tire himself out and find someone else to take. ”
maybe he’s being a little mean in PURPOSELY ditching his friend, who only means well, ( in tetsuya’s defense, ryota rarely lets up if he’s put his mind to something ) but the inconvenience of having to walk all the way back home at night makes him reluctant to go along with the boy’s plans. as if school isn’t already far enough from his apartment building. “ what are you doing here, murasakibara - kun ? ”
𝙰𝚃𝚂𝚄𝚂𝙷𝙸 𝚃𝚁𝙸𝙴𝙳 𝙽𝙾𝚃 𝚃𝙾 𝙻𝙰𝚄𝙶𝙷 𝙰𝚃 Kuroko’s expression, mesmerising purple eyes unable to hide their amusement. ❛ Alright, alright, if you say so~ ❜ he sighed, trying to hide a little chuckle as he leaned back against the chair ━━━━━━━━ lazily stretching his long limbs as well as the small space and Kuroko allowed him. Atsushi more than anyone resembled a lazy cat, always eager to lay around in the sun and nap. Still, no matter how lazy and catlike he was, the centre was also very soft regarding his friends.
❛ That’s really mean, Kuro-chin. ❜ The purple haired boy pointed out, knowing fully well that Kise wasn’t really this overly confident person he portrayed himself to be. ❛ Kise-chin will get upset and start thinking bad things~ ❜ Atsushi might look oblivious and in his own little world but he is very perceptive, he knows deep down they are all broken. At Kuroko’s question, Atsushi pondered ━━━━━━ he wasn’t really doing anything important, spending the weekend at home for what felt like years, he had decided to go snack shopping ; restock on his favourites that he could only get in Tokyo. ❛ Oh, I’m just buying some snacks... ❜ pointing at the bag of candies still left uneaten. ❛ They don’t have these flavours up in Akita, so whenever I come down I like to stock up on them. ❜
❛ But, what are you going to do, Kuro-chin? Kise-chin will find you eventually~ ❜

ㅤ ㅤ She followed him into the kitchen in complete silence, taking care not to step on his heels. Unlike Reimi, he moved so slowly, making her wonder how he would be able to contain the children if they did something dangerous—good reflexes were essential in that profession, to avoid any accidents. ❝ Please, just Reimi is fine. ❞ Her voice ever so gentle, since it made no sense to stick to formalities, since they would spend various days together. Reaching the kitchen island, her two hands rested on the icy surface, just following his movements with her eyes. ❝ I usually eat rice porridge and an omelet, with some green tea. ❞ Truth be told, she felt a little bad saying her preferences, but Atsushi quickly took care of the fridge and hinted that he would lead the way this time.
ㅤ ㅤ As for the children’s meal, a more thoughtful expression appeared on her face. It was a custom of hers to ask the parents what they couldn’t eat, if they had any allergies, things like that. ❝ They don’t have any food restrictions, so we can do the basics for the first breakfast together. ❞ Reimi suggested her modus operandi, which has always served her pretty well until then. Of course, no child was the same as the other, and those two were especially young, but perhaps that was precisely why their mission would succeed… At least as far as meals were concerned. ❝ We can ask what they prefer while we eat. ❞ Particularly, she liked to please them in that respect. With any luck, they could even use it for future negotiations—if things threatened to get out of hand.
ㅤ ㅤ Her gaze fell to the furniture where she leaned over, an index finger drawing circles absently. ❝ I take care of some kids from my neighborhood all the time. During the summer, usually three times a week, sometimes even more. ❞ An exemplary dedication, in fact. It might even seem like she was in dire need of money or something like that—but the truth was that Reimi had a lot of fun dealing with the little ones. If it was possible to reconcile that with hang out with her friends, so be it. ❝ Everybody says I’m good at it, let’s see if it works for them too… ❞ A soft smile touched her lips, pink eyes lifting up and searching for Atsushi. ❝ How about you? ❞ Actually, she didn’t know many boys who were babysitters… That must have meant he was really good at it.
𝙰𝚃𝚂𝚄𝚂𝙷𝙸 𝚆𝙰𝚂 𝙸𝙼𝙼𝙴𝙳𝙸𝙰𝚃𝙴𝙻𝚈 𝚂𝙾𝙾𝚃𝙷𝙴𝙳 by her gentle voice ━━━━━━ and he was thankful, for that was the voice children often listened to. Not that his wasn’t, but he always found that kids were more receptive to girls ; or maybe it was just him being influenced by his only sister ━━━━━━━━ her words were basically law within their household only overruled by their mother. Her breakfast options were sound enough, not overly complicated and Atsushi appreciated the homely simplicity of it. He could work with that. ❛ That’s a good choice, though green tea might be too bitter for the babies, Mi-chin... ❜ he mumbled, thinking about the kids now.
The tall boy had been prepared to deal with food restrictions, his mother had taught him to cook when he was young, and they had always told him how to replace certain ingredients for healthier or better options, so that he would be able to cater to people’s needs or dietary restrictions. ❛ I can make some octopus-shaped sausages for them too. ❜ His purple eyes looked at her for approval, he had already decided to leave the head nanny position with her ━━━━━━ not because she didn’t think he could handle it, but simply because he was fairly lazy and being the responsible one was bothersome.
❛ Okay, we can do that... ❜ he nodded, knowing what the kids prefer to eat ━━ what they like and dislike ━━ would certainly be useful in the future to avoid surprises. For now, he settled into the routine of starting breakfast, gathering then ingredients and starting to work. ❛ Ah, so you always do this, then? ❜ He asked, relieved that she was actually experienced, not that he had doubted her ━━━━━━ she looked the part, plus there was a feeling about her that gave off experienced nanny vibes. ❛ Me? I have three nephews and a niece... ❜ he began, childlike voice softer as he thought about his family and the babies ━━ Murasakibara missed them a lot, they were all busy with being celebrities and all, plus he was stuck in Akita most of the time so he didn’t get to see them as often anymore. ❛ I’ve been taking care of them since they were newborns so I have some experience. It’s the first time I take babysitting as a summer job though~ ❜
As it was customary, when he thought about his family he wondered if she knew any of them ━━━━━━━━ his father and his second oldest brother where admittedly the most famous but everyone else also had a public job. ❛ Should we talk about rules now~? ❜ He asked, hands automatically going about preparing the rice porridge.

1 . Out of all the miracles, Mukkun feels more protective of Kise ; for some reason Kise awakens his 'mom friend' persona much more than the others, and so he gets to deal with being pampered by Mukkun.
2 . Being the most affectionate miracles, Mukkun and Kise cling to each other a lot ; Mukkun loves the affection, and is always nuzzling against Kise, holding his hand and leaning against him.
3 . Because Mukkun's father is a world famous model, Mukkun grew up in a home where your appearance is important so they take very good care of it, and Mukkun and Kise bond over that too, often helping each other do their skincare routines, sharing what products they have been using, what they think they'll try next.
4 . While Atsushi was often seen around with Akashi and Midorima, he much preffered to study with Kise. The atmosphere around Kise is more relaxing and he doesn't feel pressured, there is no competition there. Plus he also enjoys helping Kise study, it is very cute to see Kise get excited about understanding things he was struggling with.

KAGAMI CAN STILL REMEMBER THE YOSEN GAME like it was yesterday. like the winter cup had just happened and he was desperately trying to keep moving forward. murasakibara had been a challenging opponent, but like the others he had just been another challenge kagami had to overcome. just like this situation with his father. his old man was just another challenge to conquer, and these feelings of abandonment were just something for him to pass over. which is why he was out playing basketball. it was easier to relate his life problems to the court, and to simply just watch them disappear with each bounce of the ball. it didn’t matter that there was a downpour coming from the skies above, not to him. kagami’s clothes were soaked through already, and he probably was going to end up sick if he didn’t stop soon. but he was still determined to keep playing until he forgot all the feelings that were welling up inside him. at the comment from murasakibara kagami stares up at the other player with his eyes narrowing slightly. he knows it’s silly, but that doesn’t mean that’s something he wanted to hear out loud. he was already berating himself enough in his head for his stupid decisions.
the comparison to aomine actually made sense. kagami was much like his rival in certain ways, and putting their emotions into basketball was definitely one of the main ones. still, kagami had to admit he appreciated the temporary relief from the rain even if he was acting a bit like a child in this situation. hence why he doesn’t argue when murasakibara reprimands him because of how deserved it was. he can’t help but look surprised at the other player’s next question. did he really just invite him to dinner? at the shere mention of food, kagami’s stomach growls. well, there was his answer.
❛ no i haven’t. thank you i would appreciate something to eat. ❜
𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙻𝙴𝚁 𝙱𝙾𝚈 𝙳𝙸𝚂𝙼𝙸𝚂𝚂𝙴𝙳 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚃𝙷𝙰𝙽𝙺 𝚈𝙾𝚄 with a soft hum, silently indicating for them to start walking. The rain was getting worse and Atsushi would really rather get home before it became too much for his umbrella. It wasn’t out of character for him to be soft and nice ━━━━━━━━━━━━ Midorima and Akashi might win the contest of ‘mom-friend’ but there was a reason Atsushi got along with them so well, he too was sort of a mom friend in a way that he was very good at taking care of people. Perhaps not in the same way as the other two miracles, but they sort of completed each other ━━━━━━━━ Midorima with the nagging, Akashi with the reassurance and Atsushi with acceptance. Kagami was just getting to experience this side of Atsushi, so the center figured it was normal for him to be so surprised. ❛ Ne, what does Tai-chin want to eat~? ❜ He asked after a few minutes of silence, not even realising the nickname.
❛ Muro-chin says Tai-chin likes hamburgers, I can make that if you want. ❜ Atsushi leads them through the streets he knows with the back of his hand, short cut after short cut until they stood in front of the impressive gates of the Murasakibara estate. His plan for the night was to make either tteokbokki or boeuf bourguignon, but he also enjoys hamburgers just fine so it would all depend on Kagami. Guiding them through the garden, Atsushi stopped by the front door, unlocking it and walking inside, letting Kagami in. ❛ You should go take a shower or else you’ll get a cold, leave your clothes outside. ❜ Murasakibara knew his clothes would be a bit big on Kagami, but he supposed it would be better than to be soaked like he was right? ❛ I’ll put them in the dryer for you, and leave a new set outside for you to change into. ❜
He led the other boy to the bathroom and before leaving him alone he asked. ❛ How do you feel about cats? ❜ Atsushi had two cats that were very curious, so he’d like to know if he had to lock them in his room in case Kagami was afraid of cats too. ❛ Oh, and there’s towels, soap and stuff in the cabinets... ❜

TO SAY HE’S EXCITED for this practice game is an understatement. playing against yosen ?! against murasakibara ?! heck yes !! when they were all on the same team at teikou, they practiced together. however they rarely had chances to seriously play against each other. kise’s always been fascinated by how all of the miracles play. he hasn’t shut up about this match even days leading up to it. ——but when the day of the match arrives, kise observes right away that something is . . . different (??) about murasakibara. curiosity grows into concern as the game goes on. kise knows the difference between someone naturally getting tired from gameplay versus being exhausted from something else. something that goes beyond the court.
❝ murasakibaracchi !! ❞ he rushes over to catch murasakibara in time. ❝ yeah, it’s me. don’t worry. you’re going to be okay. ❞ despite the panic running haywire inside, kise gives a warm, reassuring smile. kise helps murasakibara off the court, && sits beside him on the bench. while a coach looks over murasakibara, kise retrieves water && handful of energy bars. the game goes on, but kise isn’t going to leave murasakibara’s side. ❝ here, you need to rehydrate. ❞ he passes over the water bottle. ❝ && if you feel like you can eat, you should have these. or you can eat later. ❞ kise sets the energy bars down on mursakibara’s other side. he brushes stray violet strands out of the boy’s eyes. kise rubs murasakibara’s back. ❝ i know you’ve been working hard. so, take it easy today, yeah ?? ❞
𝙼𝚄𝚁𝙰𝚂𝙰𝙺𝙸𝙱𝙰𝚁𝙰 𝚆𝙰𝚂 𝚂𝚃𝙸𝙻𝙻 𝚅𝙴𝚁𝚈 𝙾𝚄𝚃 𝙾𝙵 𝙸𝚃 but he managed to take the water bottle Kise kindly got for him ━━━━━━━━━ and even if he knew he needed water to survive, taking those few sips still felt like a crime, made him feel queasy and shiver as his mind screamed that he was undeserving of it. ❛ Thanks, Kise-chin... ❜ his voice barely has sound, so weak and so incredibly tired it was totally different from his normal tone ; gone was the childlike voice, the adorably whine that inhabited his every word. He sounded empty, hollow.
It was because his mind was so frazzled that Atsushi couldn’t hide the look of horror on his face when Kise mentioned eating. The mere thought of it enough to have him shaking, terror running through his veins. ❛ I’m not hungry. ❜ He was hungry, he was starving but he couldn’t eat, wouldn’t eat. And the fear in his voice was quite evident, the way it broke and shook as he stated his lack of hunger, or even how he moved away from the energy bars Kise placed next to him. Still despite his state, Atsushi leaned into the comforting touches Kise bestowed upon him, head slumping forward to rest against the other’s stomach. ❛ I can’t... ❜ it was said in a pitiful voice, hopelessness dripping from his words. ❛ I have to go back, we’ll lose if I’m not playing... ❜ Atsushi had lost faith in Yosen, their relationship still not healed after the loss against Seirin ━━━━━━━━━━━━ he still couldn’t look at Himuro without feeling the punch against his cheek. They had made it clear that Yosen was invincible because of him, and that that loss was his fault. He couldn’t afford to lose again.
❛ I can’t lose again, Kise-chin. ❜

IT’S A DELIGHT to see all the ways murasakibara reacts. kise can’t help but laugh in endearment. while hugging murasakibara’s arm, kise nuzzles against his shoulder. he’ll give as much physical affection he can until being told off, or pushed away. although kise is grateful for the kaijou team, he still misses being with the miracles. the nickname makes him perk up even more. he adores it when someone gives him a nickname back. ❝ the only thing that’s not fair is how cute murasakibaracchi is when he pouts. ❞
golden eyes light up even more at murasakibara’s offer. ❝ really ?! i can eat the food you make ?? ❞ kise has to look away, so he doesn’t give full view of how ecstatic he is. ( it’s not often that kise get excited about eating. but when he’s with murasakibara, kise feels safe in his own body. ) ❝ as long as it’s not trouble, i’d love to go over to your place. ❞ looking up, kise returns that warm smile. ❝ i’ll help you cook !! && by that i mean giving back hugs in the kitchen. ❞
𝙸𝚃 𝚆𝙰𝚂 𝙸𝙼𝙿𝙾𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙱𝙻𝙴 𝙵𝙾𝚁 𝙷𝙸𝙼 𝙽𝙾𝚃 𝚃𝙾 𝙱𝙻𝚄𝚂𝙷 ━━━━━━ pale cheeks dusted by a soft peachy tone as he quickly turned his head to hide it from Kise. Atsushi had never considered himself cute ━━━━━━━ or pretty, or handsome or whatever other adjectives people used. He had been called a freak and a monster for so long that those were the only words he could use to describe himself ; so to hear Kise, a literal model and the prettiest miracle call him cute made him feel all weird and fuzzy on the inside. ❛ I’m not cute, Kise-chin~ ❜ he whined once more, another pout on his face.
Kise’s surprise at his offer confused him, why wouldn’t he be allowed to eat the food Atsushi makes? ❛ Eh? Of course you can, Kise-chin. Why would I cook for anyone else~? ❜ Cooking for Atsushi was a demonstration of love, he only did so for his family and the friends he loved with his whole heart ━━━━━━━━━━ those friends just happened to be the miracles. ❛ It’s no trouble, it will be just us. Mommy and Daddy are overseas, and my siblings don’t live at home anymore... ❜ Murasakibara stated as he began to walk in the direction of his house. To some, it would sound so lonely, to be alone and so young but Atsushi was used to it, his parents were celebrities, his siblings were quite famous too, he had been raised in this environment where they were always coming and going. He briefly wondered if Kise knew his father, after all Laurent Murasakibara was a world famous model.
It didn’t take them long to reach Daikanyama, and a few more minutes of walking had them in front of the Murasakibara State. It was an impressive home, especially considering it was nestled within the bustling commercial area of Shibuya, but Atsushi blamed his father and his eccentricities ━━━━━━━━━━━━ they could have bought an apartment, but his father insisted his children would be raised in a home. Leading Kise through the garden and up to the door, Atsushi smiled. He missed home, the dorms in Akita were good, but they would never compare to the place he was raised in. ❛ I am home... ❜ he whispered as he unlocked the door and walked in, gently pulling Kise with him.
❛ Kise-chin can leave his stuff on the couch, just make sure your bag is like closed cause the cats will be coming down to snoop soon enough... ❜
