YALL KNOW WHO I LOVE: marya dmitrievna akrhosimova
❝ If you don’t go over the top, how are you going to see what’s on the other side ? ❞
( independent, private, selective sloane from bat out of hell: the musical )
someone: how’s your rp blog going-
me:
In My House
She is a living fire, such as I have never seen; incidentally, a fire that, despite everything, burns only for him. At the same time she is extremely tender, brave, intelligent, and sacrifices everything, or if you prefer, acquires everything by sacrifice.
Franz Kafka, Letters to Milena (via wordsnquotes)
ZOOLOGIST.
“ … right. ” he feels the case begin to move again, and adds his other hand to the side of the worn leather to keep it steady… & SHUT. again, a quirky grin to conceal his odd behavior. perhaps she’d think him a crazy street beggar and move on. but truly, if he were to remain here without direction to st. petersburg, the ministry may have a FIELD DAY with what took him so long.
“ oh, him, uh — no, no no, I’m a, well, a… SCIENTIST. a ma – zoologist. this little sucker here… ” he gives the case a soft WHACK to stop the case from shaking, “ is, um, a rare species from the – galapagos. & you see I really need to get him to the university up in petersburg, if you could so kindly direct me perhaps to a train station ? ”
if only the war hadn’t made it too DANGEROUS to apparate…
A SCIENTIST? SHE THINKS, perhaps that explains his oddities. while she has met many noblemen, many performers, many professors, marya dmitrievna can honestly say that she hasn’t had such an encounter with a scientist before. the subject itself CONFUSES her, as do those who study it, and she believes that there is already too much confusion in her life to add more. the grande dame jumps a bit when he hits the case, gripping the sides of her shawl as she COMPOSES herself.
❝ i believe the MOSKOVSKY RAILROAD will be the most reliable to you, sir. the ride is a bit tedious in itself, but there is no better way. ❞ as she speaks, she appears PREOCCUPIED with whatever is in the case he’s holding. her eyes don’t travel directly to him, but to the creature, and then proceed to narrow. before he can give her any sort of answer - maybe a thanks - marya raises an arm to point. ❝ if you don’t mind me asking, what exactly IS that you’re transporting ? ❞

If I wanna be my friend u have to understand that sometimes I can’t cope with conversations. And just because I’m on tumblr effectively shouting into the void but not replying to your message doesn’t mean I hate u it just means that the thought of talking to anyone in depth is extremely overwhelming
SOFIA ALEXANDROVNA.
she stiffens when natasha’s godmother enters the room, wiping at her eyes and sitting up a bit straighter. she lifts her head when her name is spoken ( it’s not all that often she’s called by a diminutive when it comes to marya ), hoping the tears aren’t OBVIOUS on her cheeks from where marya is standing. her question makes sonya’s stomach drop, and it takes all the willpower she has to not start crying all over again.
❛ she’s — ❜ she pauses to clear her throat when her voice comes out shaking and crackling, a blush on her cheeks. ❛ she’s in her room, i’d assume. ❜ the second half of the question goes unanswered.
MARYA DMITRIEVNA, WHILE NOT the kindest of women, notices the hesitation in the younger’s voice, and stops dead in her tracks. she will move towards natasha in all due time, but first, she must deal with sofia, or else she’ll have to dwell on the fact that there is ANOTHER troubled girl in her parlor. marya doesn’t sit, but wraps her arms around her front, standing TALL as usual. her tone betrays her stance, as it is a bit more paternal.
❝ and what of you, sofia ? what on earth are you so ailed by ? ❞ she doesn’t expect the girls to have ARGUED, as that isn’t their way, but marya can’t help but have the very thought enter the back of her head. ❝ - surely nothing relating to your COUSIN, yes ? ❞
I don’t cry much anymore; I just hold my breath and try and suffocate the feelings before they can suffocate me.

PIERRE.
“mashka.” he kept his voice soft and paused after her name, trying to collect his thoughts. he’d lost his mother as well, yes, but they’d been on good terms when she passed, and it had been a long time ago. in truth, he didn’t entirely understand her GRIEF, but he understood SADNESS as a concept, and he would do anything to keep her as far from it as he could.
“my dear, tell me next time you go, and I’ll come with you. you shouldn’t have to grieve alone.“ with a soft nod of thanks, he took the two cups of chai tea from a maidservant and sent her back out of his study, leaving him alone with his friend. he passed her one of the cups, then took her hand again. “I’m sure they know how much you love them, and they’d be proud of who you’ve become.”
THE AKRHOSIMOVS HAD NEVER been a family of praise. there was always a clap on the back waiting for the eldest when he returned from battle, and a nod of approval whenever their only girl would curtsy correctly, but aside from that, very little POSITIVE reinforcement. yes, they loved each other, but they were CHOOSY with what they loved. marya, who now sees herself as a thorn in the side of her own family, never felt at home when in her own house.
❝ i simply became my father, only louder. ❞ she states, taking a small sip of tea directly after. the casualty of her statement does little to affect her, but marya does look down at her hands, both wrapped around the glass she has been given. ❝ - they would be proud of THAT, and not much else. ❞
me ? laying my life on the line for @heartreveals ? it’s more likely than you’d think
