“i know, it’s just all happening so fast.” grant said before turning his body to her. “maybe i shouldn’t have cut out everything in my past. you were pretty great.” he said before taking her hand. “you know, sometimes i wonder what would’ve happened if michael never came into my life. you think we still would be together?”

“I’m doing good, I wanted to see you make sure you were okay.” Grant said walking in and sitting next to her on the couch. “I’m not the most interesting person right now.” He laughed as he sat next to her. “I’m sorry.” Grant blurted our inadvertedly. “For everything. For cristian for not talking to you for leaving you for Michael for trusting him instead of you. Everything Fallon. I’m so sorry.”

“i’m not having the best time right now, but you know me, i’ll handle it. i’m glad you’re doing good.” fallon told the boy softly as he joined her on the couch. her eyes wided at his sudden outburst, but she figured it would come up eventually…that’s what happens when you don’t talk to someone for a while. “hey…i forgive you.” she said wrapping the boy in a hug and pulling him close to her. “i dated michael after you, remember? i know how he is, i forgive you.”

“It’s really not okay though.” Grant said moving closer to her. “You were always there for me and I didn’t listen. And then all this shit happened and . . . I’m just really sorry.” He gave her a small smile. “But you of all people never deserved any of it.”

“Addie this isn’t about you or your dumb fall from grace. Right now I could give three shots about that.” He said shaking his head. “You and I both know you didn’t do it you don’t have the balls. But what happened? I know you’re a bitch but I … I care about you okay? So tell me.”

a chilling fragility flourishes in her silence ;  far more to be found in the unspoken than in her mouth.  big doe-eyes cast to the floor,  a pair of lashes sweeps over cheeks that bend near her shoulder.     “    i didn’t do anything to michael.    ”   she mumbles meekly,  content to remain behind the barrier she’s build between them.    “    him and nate would get a little rough with me sometimes -  usually nothing i couldn’t handle, but - well, you saw the jist of it.   michael was angry that night… i tried asking, he took it out on me  - i got him off me and then i asked my boyfriend to stay at his place for the night.     ”      glazed eyes looks back at him,  after what feels like decades.    “   it’s not nearly as exciting for a story as you were hoping for, i’m sure - but alas…   ”

Say just that.” He said putting a hand on her shoulder to show some kind of consolidation. “Your boyfriend should’ve done a better job. Even I wouldn’t let Michael talk to you like he did in the video.”

fallon opened the door, a little surprised to see grant standing there. not that there was any bad blood between them, it was actually the opposite, they just hadn’t really spoken in a while. “hey grant.” she said softly, moving aside to let him walk inside. “sure, i’m fine. how are you?” she asked before shutting the door and walking over to sit on the couch. “please tell me you’ve got something interesting going on.”

before she can muster up anything witty  &   borderline cruel,  ferocity temporarily subdued for the night -  her hand’s snatched away like something to be stolen, body tugged and pulled like a rubber-band, begrudgingly following along behind a pile of dusty old books. heels drag all the way,  dewy eyes sunken  &   red   &   looking anywhere but at him.  back slouching against a near shelf in defeat,   she feels the weight of her bones as she’d been dragging them around for a whole eternity, twisting that necklace back  &   forth,  rolling the jagged pendant between soft pads until they bruise.   “    what does it matter to you?    ”   but there’s no bite there - only an echo of where it’d frequently be.    “    just go off  &  celebrate my downfall from grace like you always dreamed of  —- isn’t this what you wanted?    ”

“ It totally is, I’m proud of you man, I know this was something you were struggling with and I’m happy you had enough strength to go through rehab,” He really hoped that Grant stuck to it, though he think it would be easy without Michael around. Standing up, he was starting to collect his stuff for the shower when he heard Grant. “ I’m good man, been just fine,” Michael’s death didn’t really affected him, he hated the guy, “ I missed you too,” Aleki admitted, letting the silence hang in the air for a bit, “ Are you sure you don’t want a bite to eat? We can go to Patty’s like old times,” Patty’s was an old 24/7 diner that they would always go to when going out to eat.

“thanks. definitely a progress.” grant laughed back. “i wish i had been stronger before it started.” he said, trying not to sulk. “That’s good, glad to see you’re good.” he said in silence. he didn’t really know what to say to aleki now, considering they used to just mess around all the time. heck if he was high right now he’d be on his knees sucking off aleki in the shower, but now he knew better. maybe rehab helped him more with just his drug problem. yet he still had his rendezvous with addie. “you know, i could probably use a quick bite, why not.”

“ I mean yeah, to get better, doesn’t really help you look good though,” Aleki teased, happy that the mood was still light between them, he could see himself falling back into the same routine with Grant, minus the drugs which was a huge plus. Pulling his socks off, he shrugged his shirt off, tossing it with the shoes, “ Well, I know how you like to distract yourself, usually I was involved,” Aleki joked, looking at the other with a small smile,” Do you want to get some dinner?”

“yeah but not having a drug craving is a good sign of getting better i would think.” grant added. he couldn’t help but laugh with aleki. even whatever he said, it just brought back the memories of him feeling better after the break up with michael. “no thanks man, it’s already midnight. i should, you know probably head out soon.” he said looking up and down at the now shirtless aleki, which he had to admit was his weakness.”but ah, how have you been holding up? i’ve . . . missed you.”

Aleki didn’t know if he should keep standing here, sit beside Grant or just talk to him as he was changing, it was nothing that Grant hadn’t seen before, he’s actually seen way more. He didn’t get to see him when he got out of rehab, partly because he was with Nate making sure he was good through Michael’s death, and Aleki didn’t think Grant would want to see him, he didn’t contact him at all. “ I’m good man, football season is going great, having a good hoco, dad couldn’t make it, and my mom is around here somewhere, I’m trying to avoid her,” He was honest with Grant in their alone times, his pastor father, horrible mother and stepfather.  He decided to move over and sit beside Grant, not too close though, “ You look good Grant…seriously, like, you look really good,” He smiled softly before bending down to undo his shoes, “ What are you trying to get your mind off of,” He asked, sitting back up, “ If you don’t mind me asking.”

“yeah i hear that. my family can be a little bit overbearing sometimes.” Grant sighed as he looked over to Aleki as he sat down. it was weird, being next to him again. Much like addie, brought back a lot of memories. But these were good. He remembered how he was always there for him, the good and the bad. Trying to get him sober before he even went to rehab. “Thanks, that’s kind of the point of the whole place, right?” He chuckled, trying to shed some light in. “Just, a lot of shit that was coming up. No worries. You know how i like to distract myself.”

This had to be fate right? Aleki wasn’t wanting to work out today, to go down to the gym and work his ass off like most nights. But homecoming was coming up and it was this big thing, maybe he would find someone to take out, and he wanted to look good. Usually he showered at home but today he was just feeling the showers in the locker room so instead of going to his car after the work out, he went to the locker room and saw Grant sitting at one of the benches.  He looked better, much better, it was awful to see the other near the end of their time together, Aleki trying his best to get Grant to stop without ruining their relationship, at least he got help. Walking over slowly, he cleared his throat, “ Hey Grant,” His words were soft, scared that he would run the other off before they had a chance to talk, “ I didn’t expect to see you here this late,” It was already nearing midnight, Aleki loved to be alone in the gym so he can really go at it. @grant-inline​

he thought working out would help him out a lot. getting everything out of his head was hard enough. with the pressure of his sister, student council, homecoming. grant just needed to get himself distracted, with something that wasn’t addie. and going to the gym alone, he was going to get himself distracted. without drugs, and without someone to stick his dick into. and yet just as he had finished doing bench presses in the middle of the night, an old flame came rolling in. “Aleki, hey.” Grant said as sat up from the bench. “yeah i kind of needed to get my mind off of things. how are you?”

“  that’s right …  ”    baring her teeth sheepishly,  something of a light-bulb flickers.  “  those bad… bad influences.  they’re like…  what do you call it?  a trigger?   hmm…   am i your trigger, grant?  is that why you’ve come crawling back here into my corner?   my, don’t i feel special.     ”    shedding her sheep pelt,  he can almost see a glimpse of  adelaide  -  leering dangerously close, warm breath on his neck, beady eyes filled with an insidiousness that can only echo in an abyss; bottomless, hopeless, full of teeth.   “  silly mouse, don’t sell yourself so short -   ”   in an almost childlike lilt childlike, her notes hit sweet and airy, sticking against his cheek like warm honey.   “ you did a pretty good job of filling me up for awhile.  ”   lips clash  - a judas kiss, full of ill-intent; violent, quick, razor-sharp against the flesh.    “   now, you should really get on with that third step, grant.  before i start to get bored  &  decide i wanna play with you some more.  ”

“you were once, i’m not afraid to admit it.” grant said stepping closer to addie. “but a lot of things were. i’m just stronger than you think i am. sorry, you were never that special. you were just lucky i liked broken people.” he looked down at her. all the things that addie was saying just reminded him of when he was sucked into her before he went into rehab. truth to be told, she was a drug to him, the only drug he could ever take and not get addicted, at least that’s what he kept telling himself. the feel of her touch was no doing him any favors. and that kiss certainly wasn’t either. it just brought him back memories of hurting and anxiety of getting his next fix. but it was hot and intense, and just brought back the memories of not caring anymore. and when he was with addie, he just forgot about everything. but that was her spell. and now he knew better. “you know if i was still high, i would’ve had you bent over the desk right now. but maybe one day you’ll realize you don’t deserve that. even as awful of a person you are.” she said eventually backing her against the wall. “or maybe you deserve one of these. . .” he said kissing her again, but giving her a soft kiss, something to kind of say he cared about her, though he would never admit it. even as the kissing grew more gradual, it was never the empty kisses they usually gave each other, but something with meaning. eventually moving his lips, kissing her cheek until it reached her ear before whispering, “do you want me to stop?”
