i reviewed the new orwells album and it ended up being my favorite review that i have ever written. go read it before i kill you
my shortened review of terrible human beings: this album really didn’t divert from the suburban gothic foundation/sound that their music is built upon. the orwells once again cater to the soundtrack of a teen film; the chorus of hippie soldier, intro of ring pop (especially the intro of ring pop), and the entirety of heavy head seem to be ripped right off of the soundtrack to beyond clueless. my brain instantly connects their second album with the sound of midwestern/southern boredom and terrible human beings falls into the same specific category. every single song sounds strangely familiar, as if i heard each individual power chord in the chemical makeup of my dreams (which have become a toxic cocktail of can’t hardly wait and pavement-addled delusions). the album is a prime example of second album syndrome, but it has its definite highlights
