My Religion - Portrait Version

So as a millenial and veteran fan, I did not realize that nobody uses their PCs anymore, like I do and for most the video is gonna display weird. So I made a mobile version, which was easy given the fact that most of the footage is portrait anyway. 🙄 Gotta learn to adapt.

Hey! It's no problem at all! It's been a while since I got any asks. We got so many gates in this fandom it's hard to keep up lol.

So doorgate is what happened in a video from the day Hudson and his team arrived in Paris on July 7. It shows Hudson exiting a door to get to the car and you can see K behind him. People noted that he does not look back or hold the door for her and she lingers in the doorway awkwardly.

The article is very good, it talks about why straight men might enjoy HR and how it's a green flag for them to do so. The article does not, however, talk about Hudson and Connor at all. So that photo was a Choice.

There's a lot that's been said about the photos but one thing I feel like gets overlooked is how artistically brilliant they are. I picked these 3 in particular because they all look like art from different eras - the first one with dark colours and heavy gazes that reminds me of a 17c Spanish oil painting, the second with a soft light and warm colours in the streets of Paris is reminiscent of Impressionist art. And the last photo looks dark and tense, the black & white filter clearly being an artist choice enhancing the gloomy atmosphere and Leilani's contrasting smile. Art always tells a story and I think Aika's photographs are art.

On IG and Narratives

It's funny when people say "this is not PR!". Like, girl, everything is PR. When the world is watching, everything you do and say becomes a part of your brand. It's true when it comes to public events - it's not just how you act, it's also who you bring with you and how you treat them - and it's true for social media. Social media is not real life. Especially IG. Its whole concept is personal branding. You broadcast your life to your followers, whether it's 5 people or 5 million. Photos and short videos are just glimpses, they do not give context. And when you pick which ones to post and in what order, what caption to use and what music, you create a narrative. And I'm not saying that everything people post is fake. Sometimes it's there to enhance the existing image and sometimes to create entirely fabricated narratives. And when the people posting are artists who know everything they post will be scrutinized, it should be obvious what they post and how it's framed is anything but casual. Also, sometimes, what isn't shown and posted can tell you more than what is.

I love this so much! Thank you for putting in the work! This is healing. I love Connor's unhinged laugh but especially Hudson's cute lil giggle. The way his whole face scrunches and he turns away... nobody makes him laugh like Connor. I actually almost teared up at this, I miss seeing them like this so much.
