This is an amazing map of Venice done on a tapestry in the Vatican inn the 16th century by a cartographer named Ignazio Danti, during the time of Pope Gregory XIII. Amazing accuracy for that time, created from standing at the highest point of the area and drawing what he could see! This map of Venice is 90% accurate! Compare it with my next post of a modern satellite image of Venice.

In the Vatican museums in Rome there are lots of these mediaeval statues, naked of course! A later pope was offended by all the bare genitals everywhere so he went around with a hammer and broke many of them off!

Visiting Australia?

Australia is my home country. When I was in Europe and the USA whenever I said I was from Australia I was amazed at the many positive responses. So many people said they wanted to come here. Some bemoaned that it was "so far".  Some said they definitely planned on coming here "one day".
