i dont recall posting these guys to this iteration of the blog, but old fans may recognize this hashtag nostalgia blast: 2 lil guys plus a few freaks off the top of my dome

had a revelation recently that made me re-think the story about kit and hanya, and it's actually somewhat salvageable now, which is incredible. i had to make kit the sole protagonist and nerf hanya's powers - those were the sacrifices for the plot to make even a lick of sense...

sadly, some characters, who i really liked, needed to be removed from their spots too, but i will try to re-integrate them into the story somehow. don't mind the vlad guy, he was the third hero the entire time.

i think i grow more and more infuriated, when i remember that the recent cartoon pilot "chim*topia" is someone's project. not an obligatory corporate exercise to flex their dull yet powerful brand muscle, but a project made by an independent creator, who intended to receive public recognition and funding for it.

i understand that the intent was to make something like "smiling friends" or any modern adult cartoon with grounded realistic dialogue, but the incuriosity of the pilot's creator is driving me mad.

i will say again and again, that i don't mind mediocrity. most artists are statistically mediocre (me being mediocre, as well), and there's nothing shameful about it. but there comes a point, where this mindset starts to test my patience, because some artists are separated from reality to the point of being non-sensically boring.

and i don't know what this creator was or is thinking, but if they somehow thought that this idea was ground-breaking, then i'd get upset. like, if the pilot included talking cartoon animals or same-faced anime girls, i'd at least not feel as bad as i do, because it would signify that the creator is capable of ... an idea. any idea. but a dry slice-of-life comedy series about three indistinguishable, 2010s-tumblr-looking guys, punching down on more successful (and inspired) creations? it's bold in its assumption of superiority, and nothing else.
