okay... i've decided to write the "pitch" for the detective triangle comic as a whole
i've looked at how long it's taken me to make just one part of it (it's been 4 damn years 😐), and i realized that by the time i get to the "awesomesauce" parts of the story, i will have lost all the good will people have for my stuff.
it would be that much cooler to reveal everything gradually, but well... i don't think it's feasible, without testing the readers' patience.
so, if you're interested in what's in store for the comic in the future, you can take a look at the premise written below. if not - you can skip this post

in the beginning, our dear Brewster Bankroft solves local cases, but with each chapter something else begins happening in the background: something eerie that makes him curious and a bit unsettled.
Bankroft encounters shady individuals on the streets of sleepy towns, experiences weird occurences seemingly tied to secret agencies, and sees... robots? his boss tries to make sure that Bankroft doesn't get into trouble: as an ex-CIA agent, he feels that something's off, and he doesn't want to cross paths with those "fellas" - learning their secrets wouldn't end well for either of them.
it's too bad that Bankroft loves secrets! he's not a detective for nothing - solving mysteries is his bread and butter. he does stand back, if the boss insists he does... but if no one is there to stop him to peek behind the curtains... he'll do so just a little bit.
and nothing too out of the ordinary happens, until he meets Garner. their cases overlap, as they search for the same perpetrator for different reasons: Bankroft looks for a man who rampaged through a little town, and Garner looks for someone who might hold a clue to his "broken arrow" case.
(below are heavy spoilers for the story):
at first, Bankroft has fun messing around with a "super secret agent", while also wondering if he could learn more about Garner's "super secret" mission... not too much, of course. he wouldn't want to get entangled in something too exciting!
he finds a bizarre box filled with electronics, which somehow "summons" the perpetrator - the white-haired man with stitches going across his body... the man, who his friend Dominic swore came back from the dead in front of his eyes. huh. well, Bankroft needs to bring this man to justice, so he goes after him, even if Garner insists he stays back.
an adrenaline-filled chase ensues, but both Bankroft and Garner eventually lose him, as the suspicious man jumps 30 feet in the air to latch onto a helitanker and fly away... sadly, Bankroft doesn't possess similarly inhuman abilities, so he has to reluctantly stop the pursuit. Garner doesn't stop however, and the laws of physics eventually catch up with him - he falls into the river and nearly drowns.
Bankroft helps him out, but that doesn't earn Garner's trust, because... who the hell is this guy? is he really just some private eye or is he a spy? no one in their right mind would treat him like Bankroft has, what gives?
Garner's wariness is motivated by years of stress, anxiety and self-inflicted isolation that helped him burn almost all bridges, except for his acquaintances that have to tolerate him in order to bring the "broken arrow" back.
it all comes back to that case, so, what is it about?
it all started innocuously enough: the country needed a new type of weapon, which could operate discreetly and autonomously in the heart of an enemy state - an intelligent atomic bomb. did i say innocuously? what i meant was the opposite. they've made a bomb-robot and put a human mind into it to make it autonomous. yuuuup.
and a few years ago this weapon went missing: an explosion at the rocket fuel factory, which had a secret research facilitiy beneath it, destroyed everything in sight, and the robot vanished, as well.
all the staff that was knowledgeable about the project was to be gathered in one place, so that the information about the craziest "broken arrow" incident would be kept under wraps. everyone, including the investigation team, was put one plane and flown to the CIA headquarters, which was a fool-proof plan, until it wasn't. on the way, the plane suffered a critical failure and crashed, killing every passenger on board...
if nothing had been done, then the investigation would have died right then and there. but when you have the technology to transfer a human mind into another state of being... why not use it? and the only person who was still alive enough to be "revived" was... the one and only Rashied Garner.
he isn't too happy about... any of this. he suffers from amnesia, he can't feel his body, he can't enjoy much of anything anymore. he is a dead man walking, and yet he can't be let go, because of how important he is to this case. he is their only hope, yet as the years pass, he doesn't seem to be getting any closer to solving it.
the thing that haunts him the most, is that his son was among the casualties, yet he "was the one to live". if you could call that living...
he can't find relief in anything, besides the investigation, but even then he feels useless: the only thing he can recall clearly is the plane crash, which he relives over and over and over in order to remember something, which would advance the investigation.
in that miserable state, he stumbles onto Bankroft, who lifts his spirits up somewhat. he becomes the only bright spot in the never-ending darkness that he ended up in. Bankroft may be irritating at times, but his kindness and boundless love for Garner overwhelms his dull senses.
he fears that Bankroft will eventually learn about "what" he really is, and tries to make him leave pre-emptively, ending their relationship on a bad note, which "could be much worse" otherwise... but he doesn't have the strength to let go, and Bankroft isn't in a hurry to go either. at some point, Garner gives in and embraces his partner, as he realizes that there's no point in tormenting Bankroft... and there hasn't been since the beginning, but alright. it's a start.
that bliss doesn't last long: something happens to Bankroft's boss, which negatively impacts Bankroft, too. and this "something" might be connected to Garner - he can't justify being near Bankroft anymore, and he finally fully cuts ties with the poor fellow.
Bankroft won't accept that, though! he needs to know what happened! this will be his last case before the retirement, god dammit... he embarks on a journey, which will lead him to discovering the secret, that will leave the entire nation in shock..!
