this is yet another poll tournament since me running one wasn’t enough apparently 😟😟 anyway! there are two criteria for submitting characters:
1. the character is heavily associated with meme culture (examples include: sans, sonic, hatsune miku)
2. the character is from an obscure source that gained traction due to a meme/trend (examples include: clone high jfk, 1988 treasure island dr livesey, gex the gecko)
now,, there are some more rules for submitting as well:
keep it limited to one submission per character. you can submit many, just not the same character twice or more
no real people. if i see ANYONE submitting jerma or ishowspeed i’m gonna be very mad /j
there’s no gender limit. submit any gender you like!!

Hello! as an avid fan of the swag polls I really wanted to make my own! I’ve seen a lot of different hair colors so I thought I’d do purple hair! I want to thank all of these people for inspiring me to do this!
Sick of polls about heroes and duos? Want a poll about guys who hate? Guys who loathe? Guys whose raison d'être is just to suck, like, so bad?
INTRODUCING: the Hater Bracket, a single-elimination competition to find the Biggest Hater in All of Fiction. Your Iagos, your Yzmas, your Syndromes, your GLaDOSes: characters whose primary motivation is a grudge against one specific person or group for some (perceived) slight—the pettier the better.
Entrants will be judged on:
Proactivity: ok, so they're a hater, but what do they do about it? Anyone can hate, but a true hater puts everything they have into their effort to screw over the person who's wronged them.
Pettiness: how "wronged" has this person been, anyways? Did the object of their hatred kill their entire family in front of them, or were they just less than perfectly 100% accommodating once and the hater has literally never gotten over it?
Successfulness: is a successful hater or a failed one a "better" hater? You be the judge!
Overall panache: The "x factor" of haterness. Did they hate with swag? Were they super eloquent in their monologue that basically boiled down to "oh my god I hate that guy SO MUCH"? If not, was it at least funny to watch them fume incoherently?

How will competitors be selected?
Mod discretion. Note that we will be more likely to select haters that we either know, have friends who know, or that come with a good explanation of their hater-ness (that is verifiable by google) in the submission. Stuffing the ballot box, as it were, will have zero effect, since the bracket is not selected by number of nominations.
Can I submit real people?
No. This is a bracket for fictional haters. Real-life haters are way less cool and fun anyways.
Note: Real people who have been sufficiently fictionalized (either in one piece of media, or multiple) do qualify for the purposes of this tournament.
What about [actual play media/MCYT/other thing where people play fictionalized versions of themselves]?
Sure, but if we don't like it, we won't include it.
What about professional wrestling?
Yes! I assume there's gotta be SOME incredible haters in there.
What about...?
Submit it if you want! In the worst case I simply won't include it, in the best case I will.
How many submissions has _ gotten?
We will release a full tally of submissions after nominations close. Until then, we will not be answering any questions about how many nominations any particular character has gotten.

Hello hi! Would Henry Stickmin count? He is shown to both directly and indirectly glitch out his universe on multiple occasion, and falls victim to said glitches. It's also sorta implied that he himself is a glitch? It's sorta weird. This list includes: Multiple instances of 'crashing' his universe, using a MissingNo, glitching through multiple dimensions, no-clipping, experiencing poor physic engine use, and some more dubious ones (turning his universe 1D, turning his universe into a story-board, causing a multiverse overload, clipping through walls, etc.)
ok so question on whether nuclear gandhi from sid meier's civilization counts
cos like. ok heres the context. its a running joke in the civ series that gandhi loves nuclear weapons as an homage to a popular (but incorrect) claim that in the first civ game when gandhi adopted the democracy government the value for his willingness to use nukes went so low it overflowed to an absurdly large number and made him use nukes as frequently as he could.
so like. this possibly bends the rules in multiple ways. its a fictional persona of a historical figure based on a purported glitch in that figure's first portrayal in the series, so is it counted as a real person or no? its also portrayed as just like, gandhi, but his secret agenda (every leader gets one each run) is that he loves building nukes, so is it glitchy enough just cos its an homage to a (falsely) alleged interger underflow glitch? or no?
Ah yes, I'm familiar with Nuclear Gandhi despite never playing Civilization! So first off, the "no real people" rule is mainly intended for currently/recently living people (web creators and celebrities and such), characters based on historical figures/portrayals of them that are different enough from their actual selves and not just literally the actual person from real life are probably fine I'd say? so he'd be ok on that point. now for if he would count for the theme… kind of a tough one considering the glitch wasn't actually a thing, but it's still an infamous rumor and apparently the devs referenced it later? i want some more opinions on this one though i'm leaning no for now
ok so when I said "characters affected/corrupted by glitches and regularly glitch out" i was mainly talking about characters who are like this in-universe rather than just characters from glitchy games, but I find it funny so I'm considering counting at least some of those submissions lol
this poll is meant to mainly focus on canonically glitch-based characters and characters only existing because of glitches (like glitch pokemon) though! So just keep that in mind
