It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Bill Melendez USA, 1966
I think have my own Mandela Effect related to the It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! It doesn’t have to do with whether or not Linus actually saw the Great Pumpkin or not – I remember it as him seeing Snoopy’s shadow and fainting. But I could have sworn that there was a scene in between the one where Lucy goes out to get Linus from the pumpkin patch and the one where he talks to Charlie Brown at the wall the next morning.
The scene goes something like this: Linus is getting breakfast in the kitchen (which is represented by light brown walls and some cabinets.) Lucy comes onscreen and yells at Linus for acting stupid about the Great Pumpkin. She’s really angry at him, and it creeped out child-me how she could be so abrasive after taking it upon herself to rescue him from the cold pumpkin patch the night before.
That’s why I remembered it - I couldn’t understand how someone could flip-flop between crabby to nice to crabby again so quickly (I was young, didn’t understand emotions that well.) But when I was a little older, like 14 or so, I watched the special for the first time in a while and the scene wasn’t there. Maybe I’ve confused it for another Peanuts special – I’ve seen a few over the years. Or maybe there is another timeline where the scene exists.
Does anyone else remember this scene?
One of my additions to my finally finished sleeve 👻🎃
