Know an original concept idea that can has be able to from Stronger Storytelling to Better Storytelling to Greater Storytelling
It's my 9 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
Name: Veo + Dingonek
Alternate Names: Giant Pangolin, Manis Cryptus
Mythology: Indonesian Cryptid, the Dingonek comes from African Folklore/Cryptid stories (Congolese)
Size: Medium to Large (Dingonek are always large)
Environment: Jungles, Dark Forests, Jungle Mountains, Lakes, Deserts
In Mythika: Veo once were gentle giant pangolin creatures that would never attack a human, this changed after they got overhunted for their magical scales that cure particular diseases. Now they view humans and other humanoids as their enemies and attack them before they can attack them, rolling over them with their heavy bodies or shredding them on their sharp scales. They would never eat a human corpse though, they are strict insectivores feeding on ants and termites. Veo appear in many variants, some have more spikes and scales than others, above in the picture you see only some of the variants.
While the Veo is a insectivore, the dangerous Dire Veo or Dingonek are vile carnivores that hunt for big beasts and humans. They use their armored bodies as living weapons, their tails are covered in sharp spikes, they have a rhino-like horn, pangolin like scales and bizarre large tusks like a walrus or smilodon. Their scales are even more magical, when used to make an armor this adds to the magic protection of the armor, as their scales are highly magic resistant. Hunting a Dingonek is dangerous though, they are hard to kill and also love to kill you.
