Work Drama
Oh dear, here we go...
I work at a local grocery store in town, and I have been there for just three days over a year. I quickly learned the ropes, made some really good friends there, and even got one of my best friends to start working there!
That being said, there are definitely some coworkers that are... annoying. I'm not going to use real names here, so we'll just use their jobs in the store as their names, as they all have different jobs. We have Cashier(F, 65+), Courtesy(M, 50+) and Manager(M, 40-ish) our main people in the story, and none of these people like each other, especially Cashier and Manager, and Cashier does not like Courtesy at all.
A lot goes into being a courtesy where I work because they do everything from bagging to drive-ups to trash to restocking bags to helping cashiers find prices for items not in the system. They do a lot, and we usually only have one or two at any given time if you're lucky. Cashiers have to bag, even though it's technically not in our job description. It's something all of us cashiers have had to be okay with because otherwise, we just become very inefficient and stress ourselves out even more during rushes.
Well, Cashier doesn't like this, and as I've seen from her, she likes to micromanage everything around her. This includes telling Courtesy when, where, and how to do his job. Now, Courtesy is a very nice guy. He's made some off comments in the past but has never meant harm by it, and he's very docile and not easy to aggravate. Today, he was very clearly getting annoyed at the comments Cashier was making. At one point, within three minutes of each other, this was a dialogue.
Cashier: Courtesy is f-ing worthless here
Courtesy, later: Cashier is annoying don't you think?
It got so bad that Manager was getting fed up with her and finally snapped at her to quit it, saying that it was not her job to keep track of Courtesy and that Courtesy hadn't done anything wrong all shift, so she needed to back off. She DID NOT like that and now has called out of a shift because she just can't stand working with that manager anymore, even though he isn't working that shift.
Luckily, I'm not here to deal with it!
