Tips for ttrpg players who tell you they want to play but give you no availability?
How do you deal with players who have close to no availability but want to participate in a campaign?
I'm having issues with a player that has little availability for almost two months for the first session of the campaign while the others in the group have at least 5 to 7 days they have free time to play.
We're all adults so we have the joy of adult responsibilities to deal with but im asking for one afternoon every 5 weeks....sometimes it feels like people say they want to play but then when time come to actually do the thing, crickets....
A couple of options ā
Option 1: Explain that this may not be the right group for them to play with if itās one player holding things up.
Option 2: Start the campaign with everyone else but keep the door open to introduce their character later on if availability smooths out.
Option 3: Start the campaign, have their character be a recurring guest PC with some excuse to pop them in and out of the game as needed. A wild magic curse, a very specific limited teleportation item that can get them between the party and their headquarters, etc.
Thank you for the tips, i will def add them to my dming toolsšā¤ļø
The unfortunate roadblock I have is its a short campaign that i donāt think will go over 6 games, so if a player canāt commit for like, 5 afternoons in 6 monthsā¦.
Why did they bother joining the game smhš
(And if im being honest i think what i might do is play more of a āthe show must go onā type of game, if half the players come we play kinda vibes. If they dont wanna be there its their loss)
