wammy's house is such an interesting concept to me and it intrigues me so much because. where the hell did they keep finding those genius orphans and decide hey we should make them compete to be the next great detective.

how young were near, mello or matt when they were taken in? do they have any memories of their family? they do know their real names, which maybe shows they werent young enough they wouldn't remember that. especially when we think that wammy's house immediately switches to aliases and stops calling you by your real name.

also another point: if you've been going by an alias since you were a kid and have been called by another name for most of your life, why isnt that ever considered your real name? is L Lawliet L's name because if he had a previous name it just no longer matters since he had used L for most of his life?

also if not even roger knows their real names, and no one in wammy's house calls each other by their real names (at least according to the japanese task force so roger could very well have lied), do they have kids that do not know or remember their real names and just know of their alias? in THAT case would the alias be considered their real name by the notebook law?

also do they ever actually meet possible families to adopt them or nah.

i have so many questions and the thing is. when tsugumi ohba wrote it i'm sure his idea was just "hey wouldn't it be fun if there was like an orphanage that focuses on making L's successor and we just did that for arc 2 since L's dead now but we still need L to lowkey haunt the narrative LMAO"
