the anime's biggest loss to me is them cutting the mogi "kidnapping" 💔💔 the one time we get near and mello working together.... gave us iconic moments like near lying to the task force that mogi was killed by kira (lmao)... which is what gets aizawa to finally call near!!! and gets mogi suspicious as well!!! we lost so much. can you imagine if they actually gave a fuck about the second arc.
also i always get so sad that they cut near defending mello to aizawa.... spends two whole pages talking about how we have to forgive his murders bc it was for a good cause and mello is so driven we should all be thankful to him bc he's the one that got the notebook first he's so talented <3 (sorry i'm too meronia pilled i must make everything about meronia)

god i can't believe ohba and obata introduced the literal characters of all time and were like oh btw they were raised to be the next L which resulted in irreparable psychological issues that only each other could ever possibly understand but these issues have also simultaneously driven them apart so they have to suffer alone and then they never gave us any resolution to that at all. one of them died and one of them lives with immeasurable grief and the soul-crushing burden of a mirage he'll always chase but never really live up to because he only has half of himself intact and we're just supposed to live with that. what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
